Some of the deterioration of the crown moulding on the outside of the structure had to be specially crafted to match the rest of the authentic moulding. Inside there are many original brass fixtures and mail slots, post boxes, wooden doors, desks and podiums. One unique feature of this post office is the huge mural of Clifton farm painted by a local artist of that period, E.S. Lewis. Dubbed "New Deal Art" from1939, as Franklin Roosevelt's effort to end the Great Depression, it's one of only 2 murals of its kind in the area. A plaque dedicating the building is displayed next to the post office counter. A knowledgeable and friendly postal worker informed me of the historic value of this post office! Been here a couple of times to send some packages and my experience here has been satisfactory so far. There are never enough staff so there is always a line no matter the time of day. All in all, I would recommend anyone who need to use usps services to come to this location.
