Horibal the fake police officer told us to sit on the dirty rug for 30min and then 20min and we missed our appointment due to this guy. No WiFi for Silicon Valley that is a no go. Dirty, no electronics (phones, iPads, Apple Watch I hate this place because the watch they asked to put in a locker was scratched when I came out. Do not go there ever

Limited parking space. The entrance security guard showed very poor attitude. Other than that the officer is OK.

I was very happy with my experience today. Everyone was professional and courteous. I did not have to wait an unreasonable time.

If your in need of paying off fines, tickets, child support question or want to see a listing of opened County positions everything is located in this same area. I come here many times for training and truly enjoy it! Everyone has such a pleasant demeanor, workers here are nice and friendly! Library is near by. They also have a San Mateo credit union ATM outside if your in need of quick money. They also have an actual San Matrox credit union bank at the corner and the bank has its own parking as well. Bank Of America is also walking distance. Let's not forget that located near by as well are all the good food places:Five guys, Chipotle, Peets coffee just opened up (for all you coffee drinkers). Beware that if you park on the streets you have to pay for your parking meter and yes they do check!!

Not that Matt is bitchin about it; it's good to leave the office to go to other county's offices to visit and do other business transactions. This county office is much smaller and cozier than the San Francisco County Office. Workers are much friendlier and treated you like a family-member than the San Francisco's County workers. How some of the SF County workers get a paycheck with their bitter attitude is beyond a miracle. The Human Resource have a long list of job-openings and Matt will comeback and check out what they have and try to work for the quiet county of San Mateo.

On May 25, 2023, I had a somewhat awkward experience trying to get to the entrance of this place. They're doing construction, and the front entrance is blocked by fencing. You need to walk around it to get inside. This was my first time here. I was tasked with doing a pickup in the lobby. Once inside, everyone is behind glass. Staff was helpful and professional. An elderly man needed help locating an inmate, so a staff person came out to offer assistance. I had to wait in the lobby, and then my "pickup" came out. It was an uneventful experience. If you wait in the lobby, there's no scan or search. No cellphone use in lobby

I had a time when I had to stay here & I will admit for the worst food it was pretty good! I think one night was Salisbury steak with vegetables and some potatoes. The guards treated you with respect but still treated you like an inmate. The clothes were fairly new & clean. This place I was housed for a few days had windows to see outside. Very accommodating with visiting hours. Plus in the summer the weather is nice even though you can't go outside the walls of the jail. I'm from south city and it was a pleasure stay here momentarily.

Won't follow my allergy request for milk and egg on "vegetarian" meal. All I did was have cannabis and MDMA in my own home and the cops busted in threatening to shoot us, and in the court no one spoke to me, but the lawyer said they were blackmailing me into going to prison. I still don't understand how jail is supposed to help anything whatsoever, and how they try to force milk and eggs in your food, because somewhere there's an animal in a cage just because they wanted to put me in a cage. Still a bit unstable mentally from being forced away from my family. Other than that it's pretty okay if you have time to spare it's like a sleepover for adult man babies with racially based clicks/gangs. Tap water, my pineal gland is just clearing up now. No ingredients listed on the food. MSG and GMOs. Hard to get regular exercise if you are used to running and swimming.

The jury duty process was interesting. I know everyone complains about jury duty but if you are…read moreable to serve on a jury at least once in your life I think it's worth it to see how a court trial plays out. You get a summons in the mail and if you don't reschedule or somehow excuse yourself permanently you should go in if your group is called. I've seen the judge issue either summons or an arrest warrant (?) for those that fail to show up to jury duty, so it seemed pretty serious if you fail to show up. On the first day you may spend quite a lot of time waiting around either in the waiting room or in the court room if they're doing voir dire (jury selection or interview process). You may want to bring a book or something. If you make it through voir dire and are picked to serve on the jury, the jury service depends case by case. I was selected and served for about a week. Be prepared for long days in the courtroom. You can't use phones or laptops but you can take notes via pen and notebook that they will supply. The lunch breaks were surprisingly generous like 2 hours but it may vary depending on the case. It was interesting seeing court proceedings and multiple witness testify in court. The jury deliberation room is cozy and they have bathrooms and water in there since you're supposed to be locked in until you reach a verdict (or if it's a multi day deliberation then I guess until the end of the day). You get some compensation each day and the check arrives few weeks later. It was like $15/day which may be enough to cover lunch at least. Overall it was an enlightening experience and I was grateful for the chance to see how our justice system worked up close.

I also brought all the paperwork that I needed and I got that information from their website. However, I noticed that some of the personnel that work here were rude to some of the people waiting for service. Also, the people waiting should do their homework ahead of time and come prepare with their paperwork or documents. So I can understand how employees get frustrated, but also people get frustrated because many of them need to get the process done and they feel frustrated with the bureaucracy. with that said in the five minutes, I was there I heard many people complaining and also employees yelling at those people so overall, it was a stressful experience, even though my own transaction was very fast and easy because I came prepared. My recommendation is for you to make an appointment and also review carefully the requirements that are posted on their website so that once you are at your appointment, you can have a fast and productive experience. also, I saw several signs that say that appointments are REQUIRED. Also, some of the disturbances I witnessed were because people who did not have appointments or were missing documentation but were very insistent which then became a yelling match between them and the SSN employee! Another suggestion is to be patient. This is the Social Security office which is a government facility, and this type of thing can be slow and bureaucratic. This is how it is, so be patient, come prepared, and make sure to have an appointment.
