That is occasionally difficult, especially when reviewing chains, gas stations or in this case, the landfill. This isn't my first landfill review. That distinction belongs to the River Birch site located on Hwy 90. The Houma Landfill may not be as large as River Birch, but what it lacks in size, it makes up in customer service. Customer service at a landfill? Surely I am joking, right? I assure you I am not. The Houma Landfill continues the great customer service, and friendly employee trend that I have found at nearly every business I have been to in the Houma area. The reason for my visit to this landfill was that I needed to buy an additional trash can. I couldn't use any plain can, and the landfill is one of the locations where you can buy the official trash can of Houma. It is also the place where you can dump large trash as long as you have a local address on your license, or some local utility bill. Unfortunately I visited on a Saturday. While I was unable to buy the can I needed (apparently that is a weekday only thing), the employees did give me very thorough instructions on how to acquire one during regular hours. An additional plus about this dump is that it smells significantly better than any other landfill I have visited. If you're in Houma and need to throw away large items, or get the official trash can, stop by the landfill.

Visiting The Civic Center for a Women's Empowerment Seminar; I was surprised at the grandness of this venue. I'm not sure if this place is newly renovated, but for me, I was quite elated to see this spectacular sight. This is just another testament to the growth of this area. Beaucoup parking... Spacious indoors... Indoor suites vary in size... Modern restroom facilities... No indoor lingering food or nasty carpet smells... Oh and speaking of the carpet; it seems freshly laid... Friendly management staff... I'd love to return for a larger venue & see what they have in store for me.

A division of the Clerk's office is located on the 1st floor dealing with filing of documents in the Mortgage and Conveyance records...the Civil division is located on the 2nd floor and that's the division I mainly deal with... The ladies of the Civil division have always been extremely friendly and helpful in my dealings whether in person or over the phone...given the above you might ask "Then why the 3* rating?" Well that rating stems from the metal detector at the entrance...even if you're an attorney and show them your LSBA card they make you remove everything including your belt to get in the building and it in general pisses me off...so there you go...

I emailed asking to schedule a tour and the guide got back to me within an hour or two and we got it scheduled for the next day. Reasonable price, this was more like a conversation about the house and family and how things have changed and evolved. This is unlike most of the other house tours I have done. Very special and unique. I would recommend to anyone in the area.

There was a wooden fence all around the property and gates that were locked. I was hoping there would be someone here to let people walk around. But there wasn't. There was a gravel parking lot. When I am in the area in the future, I will make sure to stop back by to see if I can actually walk around. This is an amazing spot with so much potential.

The selection of books at this branch is very broad and if you are looking for something that isn't at this particular branch the helpful staff is willing to have the book sent over from another branch. Other than books there are several different things to do at the library. You can rent movies or tv series on DVD. There are computers avaliable for use as well as study rooms for students. Kids classes are avaliable at different times of the month and there is always a calendar to take home to keep track. Many activities for adults as well. The possibilities are endless!
