This office staffs some of the most incompetent bumbling hillbilly idiots. I have NEVER had any issues with a social security office until I unfortunately moved to Talibama. One thing I am noticing here is the bar is set extremely low with hiring in the Shoals. Majority of these people get their jobs because they are related and know someone in these government offices especially since these are small towns where everyone knows everyone. They are also quota hires. Not because they are educated and qualified for the positions because they don't know policies, procedures or how to do their job. When they mess up they never take responsibility for it and they give out false information. Time and time again they have told me you'll qualify for medicare in 2017 and that was wrong and they said call in 2018 and you will and that was wrong. Then I was told I would qualify for SSDI in October 2019 and found out that was wrong and they never even started the application process for it as they should have. I had to call the Cullman office and get correct info and she said the Florence office was supposed to start an application. The very first problem I had with this office was they just can't seem to enter wages in their computers accurately. An idiot named Fred Pell messed my account by not entering in my wages correctly. It took 3 months and calling the Huntsville office to get it corrected and not have to pay an overpayment because this office refused to fix it and take responsibility. The second time dealing with that idiot Kevin Balch whom is a supervisor lied to me and told me there would be no overpayment when I turned in proof of payment of a lump sum hospital benefit. That idiot didn't even have the decency to call me, let me know there was an overpayment and went behind my back to get information from my credit union. I only found out about it because I had to call him and ask him a question. The mishap was found over a MONTH ago and he never contacted me. Kevin told me Ms.Goodman whom did my redetermination found it but she NEVER told me about it when we did our interview. She just gave the info to Kevin. Kevin calls me a week later asking me if I pay a premium on my hospital benefit because he wants to make sure they have been paying me correctly. Lol for the last year of turning in check stubs to him he would have seen I do but apparently with his cock eye he can't read. Don't even try asking for lying Laura whom is over the office because she won't help you or even take a call. Due to Kevin lying it caused an overpayment and he told me I would have to apply for a waiver and they aren't going to waive it. Lol even though he acknowledged it wasn't my fault but his. I will not file for a waiver because twice in the past when a SSA rep messed up my account I did not have to fill out a waiver. The lady in Austin took responsibility and corrected it and the supervisor in Huntsville corrected Fred Pell's mess up with no waiver. At this point I will no longer deal with this office and I will be writing the national office about these people and the mishaps and the SSA commissioner. read more
