Forget about registering your out of state car! So beware about moving to this state. Even the locals say it's way to expensive and there are more out of state people that moved here but finding out they are now moving out as fast as they come in. The state prefers the millionaire folks there are to many HOA private communities here with million dollar homes. They get by with us by having a catchall recording, saying if you have any questions to call Columbia, which is typical of this place. My complaint is about the inadequate drivers license process and now having to stand in line for hours trying to get some kind of mitigation, this based upon Columbia telling me that's what I had to do ridiculous When I got my drivers license a few years ago, I had no reason to review it in detail. Let the buyer beware, however because rather than using my current recorded South Carolina DMV address for my apartment on the drivers license, they used my house that I own; other things - height 5 feethah! I am 5-8. Wait 100 pounds. No I'm not dying like that. I have 200 pounds in weight. How does this kind of incompetency get by? This is a South Carolina government agency correct? We have been informed numerous times to be at the DMV by 1pm Monday thru Friday, only to be turned away because of bad weather , not enough people to make it worth while, not enough instructors, etc. Now we are told to make an appt 2 weeks out or to be at the DMV by 8am. That has never been devulged previously. Your instructors are not the same, one is strict and one is much more relaxed. Needless to say but all Instructors must be on the same page. Get consistency within this dept ASAP. We showed up at 9 am this morning and the drivers test was already booked and not taking anymore drivers. This place is insane with their non consistent policies. It is apparent that no one gives a darn what happens or how this DMV looks to the Public.

Five stars for a comfortable library where I was able to connect and get some online work done…read more This is a big library (certainly bigger than McClellanville but not as big as Mount Pleasant) but it absolutely had everything I needed today. It would be nice if the parking was free, but I guess too many people were parking in the library lot all day and going elsewhere. I found a work carrel where I could plug in both my laptops, though it was a bit of a stretch to the power outlet (I need to start carrying a small power strip!) but quiet. I took a Zoom call or two here without disturbing anyone and still got a bunch of work emails done. Lots of books, DVDs and reference materials. Of course, you need to be a local resident to borrow any of that but anyone is allowed to use the library and the wifi is free for anyone to use. Park by the water and a newly renovated kids playground. Tennis courts. Fairly responsive HOA board. Community activities if you want to meet people. It's a blend of renters (military) and homeowners. We like it here!
