The office is pretty good, I respect the workers' professionalism, their welcoming, and their preciseness. I do recommend them.

I submitted all the necessary documents on line for a "Real ID", and that application was valid until 30 July. Once I received the email stating the documents were approved, I tried to schedule an appointment online on July 7 and the first available appointment was September third...and my application was only valid until 30 July. I had no choice but to go to the service center and wait in line with everyone else. We arrived 15 minutes before the office opened and the line was wrapped around the building I had to park a 1/2 mile from the building and It took 3 hours to get a license. The staff was great and working very hard, but the volume of clients was overwhelming. When we finally got to the counter, I asked the clerk if today was an unusual day and she stated "it's like this everyday". This is a systemic problem...the facility and staffing levels are not suitable for the population they serve. The department needs to take action!

We've been wanting to go to the library and so happy we did. They have many activities for kiddos and their kiddo section is big, clean and amazing. We love it! It is a library - yet they have more just 'archaic books on a shelf'. They have a growing computer lab, 60+ computers last I checked. With these computer labs, come various computer classes from the elderly to coding for children. They have a children's section and a pre-teen section so you don't have to run around looking for books that you might enjoy. The children's section is actually behind an extra set of doors for added security. There are secluded study rooms, numerous audio books and the latest DVDs that the library receives all the time. No reason to use a Redbox when this library has the latest and greatest movies. This library has also kept up with technology. You can reserve your items online, and then you will receive an e-mail once it comes in and they will hold it for you. Not only that, but say you want a book that they don't have; simply request it online via their 'order form.' I have actually done this needing a certain study guide. The book came in a few weeks later, and I received an e-mail stating it was ready for pickup. Couldn't ask for more - all for 'free'.

A popular road side attraction in this area is the statue of Frank Sutton in Clarksville, TN. Frank…read moreSutton was one of Clarksville's famous residents. He was, also, a famous actor on television. He played the memorable role of "Sgt. Carter" from the CBS sitcom, "Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. . More information about this iconic statue: Source : https://www.visitclarksvilletn.com/listing/frank-sutton-statue/138/ The statue of Frank Sutton emerged glowing in the midday sun and evoked oohs and ahs from the crowd when it was unveiled in May 2017. Sculptor Wise's statue perfectly evokes Sutton's famous "Sgt. Carter" from the CBS sitcom, "Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C.," with his trademark hat, lean-forward stance, square jaw and flaring nostrils. Mayor Kim McMillan acknowledged that Frank Sutton remains a "favorite son" of our community. "He gave distinguished service to our country, and by all accounts, he was always fond of Clarksville, and remained true to his relatives and roots here." Mark Holleman -- civic leader and broker/owner of Coldwell Banker Conroy, Marable & Holleman -- working with the City of Clarksville, led the drive to place the statue near the Roxy Theatre in Sutton's hometown. "This is about keeping the past alive for our youngsters, like these students who gather here with us today," Holleman said. "This all started when one of my agents, Pat Powers, a distant relative of Frank Sutton, and I started talking about making this a company project. It was a long two years of hard work, but it turned out great, thanks to Scott Wise, the City, and of course, the group of investors who contributed the money." Sutton, whose parents met while working at The Leaf-Chronicle, took to the stage as a student at East High School in Nashville, where his family moved when he was 8. He returned to Clarksville after high school and worked as a radio announcer. During World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the South Pacific. After the war, he began a notable career as an actor, with many TV roles in shows. But Sutton will always be remembered for his breakthrough role as tough Marine Corps Sgt. Vince Carter in the "Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C." television series with Jim Nabors. He chose to be buried in Clarksville, which he always considered home. by Richard Stevens
