Unique vibes and amazing food! Where else can you take a swamp tour and see a bunch of cool gators and then have some delicious barbecue? We opted to sit outside in the serviced area to take in the swamp vibes. Derrick warmly welcomed us and kindly helped me decide between the different sides, which all sounded amazing. I opted to get corn on the cob and baked beans with my ribs, which were delicious. The corn bread though really stood out as well. We also had the sweet potato fries as an app. These were delicious but I'd recommend pairing them with a barbecue sauce instead of the herby sauce they came with since they're seasoned sweetly.

Service--spectacular. Our waitress was great and took wonderful care of us. Ambiance--right on the river. This was a lovely spot. Live music. Outdoor seating, if you want it. We could have fed the gators! Food--it was good. It was not spectacular. It was tasty and thrown together quickly. I've had better and I've had worse. We enjoyed it, but it could have been better overall. We were satisfied with it. Nothing spectacular to write home about.

I went to Snook Haven for the very first time today. They will be closed forever starting tomorrow. I wish I had not taken so long to come here. I have lived in Sarasota County, FL for 10 years now. I rolled up at 6pm. Most everything was sold out. Beer included. It is an absolutely beautiful place, and actually very easy to get to. The Folk who work there, are beyond nice & friendly. The customers are mostly older Folk in their 60s-90s. I am 55. If you are a "Southerner" you will be happily surprised that most customers are from Massachusetts and New York, and so you can have interesting conversations with people you may not regularly meet. Like if you went to Montauk, NY and everyone there was visiting from Charleston, SC. I was there with my golden retriever and red jeep. The pulled pork was better than anything in Sarasota County, 10/10. Slaw 9/10, Mac/Cheese 8/10. I will absolutely go back, if it ever re-opens. It is seriously the prettiest area of the river. Kid friendly, Family friendly, I was the only one there with a dog. It is best not to bring your dog, however. It is not a wild/crazy vibe like most dog places are. Much more low-key. First time there in 10 years, and I love it.

Snook Haven has a special place in our heart. When visiting family, going here became a tradition. Service is friendly, food was tasty and of course the ambience is exactly what you want in an outdoor barbecue restaurant where you eat picnic style while enjoying live music. We had a great time, and made new memories. Can't wait to come back.

Very good food. We had Taco's and a few drinks. Workers were friendly and service was fast. They had a single gentleman singing and playing music with great sound. Heard closing its a shame because could could tell a fun place for locals and snow birds.

Not being big meat eaters, we visit Snook Haven for the ambiance, not the food. The food is okay-- but eating on the river and listening to live music is a fun time! Service was good with a smile-- and the live music entertaining! Ordered the pulled chicken sandwich and the kale salad. The pulled chicken had nothing on it-- no lettuce or tomato or sauce. They do have a few sauce options outside though-- so that helped! The kale salad was flavorful with pickled onions and a raspberry dressing. We always try to visit once on our vacations to FL--will miss this place, as we heard they are closing up in 180 days!

What a gem! We are staying on the west side of Venice - saw the flags for Snook Haven on our drive in - decided we had to check it out. Driving west on Venice Ave - when you get to State Highway 777 - aka River Road - yes - you keep going west. There's some construction going on - so the intersection may be built up soon - but in April of 2024 - Venice Avenue becomes a two lane gravel road west of 777. Keep going! We pulled in to the first parking lot we saw - which was near an unused "picnic house". Walked another 1/8 of a mile to the restaurant - no big deal - but there is a closer parking lot. I believe that Snook's is a former fishing camp - thus the out buildings - and the bathrooms being in their own separate building. The place definitely qualifies as "quaint". You can eat inside for table service - or order from the counter and sit at one of the many picnic tables outside. We opted for outside so we could enjoy the music from the quartet of guys playing their own arrangements of a number of popular songs from the 60s to the early 2000's. enjoyable. But enough about ambience - what about the food? I enjoyed the Camp Salad with pulled chicken and their blue cheese dressing. The salad had a variety of greens - not just iceberg - white onions, carrots, red cabbage, tomato slices, croutons and shredded cheddar cheese. Well done - and the blue cheese paired well with the pulled chicken. Rick opted for the pulled chicken platter - with delicious garlic bread, baked beans and the healthiest portion of Cole slaw I have seen in quite a while. They have quite a selection of draft beers from local as well as national brewers. We each enjoyed two cold beers while we dined and listened to the music. All in all a great evening at Snook Haven.

Funky spot, great barbecue and great service. I was visiting my daughter so decided to come based on previous reviews from fellow yelpers. They had live music, plenty of parking which was very organized. Plenty of seating both outdoor and indoor. They have some seafood offerings but mainly barbecue. Beer and soft drinks available with free refills on the soft drinks. They do have a children's menu as well. We sat outside overlooking the river. I had the brisket with homemade chips and baked beans, my wife had the brisket sandwich and my daughter the brisket tacos. The brisket was tender and smoky, they have different kinds of barbecue sauce at the table. Overall it was a great meal and experience.

HIDDEN GEM! Love this place. Such fun vibes with good beer on tap. BBQ is also pretty good with a decent variety of things. Ate a couple bugs but that was my fault for sitting outside by the water in a buggy night. It was just SO pretty. They also have live music and some pretty lights lining the trees. Cool environment, beautiful jungle-like scenery. We came on St. Paddy's day so they served up traditional corned beef and cabbage plates. For my lunch, I ordered chicken tacos - they were out of chicken so I went with pork tacos. It was good, not much food. Definitely a place for older crowds. Was a cool one time destination with entertainment. read more

More of a 3.5 but I'll round up. This has a cool atmosphere to hang out, but its overly crowded by the the blue hair gang.The food was shockingly good. The brisket was good. I'd come back for the food it it wasn't so crowded. read more

What can you say about Snook Haven except it's one of the most old Florida types of establishments in our area. The food is decent but the place is so enjoyable with all the outdoor dining g and unusual inside with the stuffed gators on the wall. Love the outdoor concert area when we've been fortunate enough to be there when there is one and of course just sits right on the Myakka River and is such a different type of finding experience. read more

What a great lunch I had there today! I've driven past it numerous times but never stopped in until today. I went there with my family and was amazed at the beautiful setting, right on the Myakka River. The food was absolutely excellent, they had a great selection of beer and we even had a raccoon cruising around the outside dining area while we ate. We started off with the BBQ-wings. I am always hesitant to get any barbecue anywhere because I am extremely picky and rarely find what I consider to be good barbecue. I have to say that their wings were absolutely excellent! They had a great smoke flavor they had a great dry rub on it and then they flash fried the wings before serving them. After the first bite, the wings never had a chance with my family! We've been ordered four meals; Homemade Pastrami Reuben, Blackened Catfish Sandwich, BBQ Chicken Tacos and a Cobb Salad. I really don't need to get into the specifics on every one of the plates other than for me to say that they were all absolutely delicious and would order any of them again without hesitation. I do want to point out the homemade pastrami Reuben was amazing. Again a homemade smoked pastrami that was tender and incredibly flavorful. Overall I have to say that their barbecue was definitely a great and tasty job well done. As I said everything was absolutely extremely awesome and I give it for very very very strong stars. They also had a tremendously awesome beer selection to choose from. The only aspect that keeps me from giving it five stars is I did think that they were a bit on the expensive side. With tip, we spent almost $100 for lunch and only had four meals and one appetizer along with two beers and two sodas. Overall this was an excellent dining experience even though it was a little bit on the spending side. As I always mention in my barbecue reviews, I have to say that Snook Haven is T-shirt worthy! I will definitely be back there to try the other items on their menu! read more

Service was good--food was terrible--didn't know ribs could be so dry and tasteless. Won't be back. Save your money--but if you insist on finding out how bad it is for yourself, take a LOT of bug spray--malaria capitol of SWFL. read more

This was by far the best pulled pork taco I have ever had. Great taste and the salsa on top was perfect. My boyfriend had the fish and chips with homemade macaroni and it was delicious too. Will definitely be coming back to this secret spot. read more

Outstanding food, service, and atmosphere. No wonder it's always jam-packed. Gator bites and wings are my favorite apps and the triple platter with ribs, pulled pork, and brisket is incomparable. Don't bother going with a clean car though. read more

Great stop and a taste of old Florida. Don't be intimidated by the location, it's down a dirt road and literally on the Myakka River. It might get a little messy after a thunderstorm so make sure you go when it's dry. We had the sweet potato fries for apps, pulled pork tacos and cold salmon tacos for lunch. Everything was good as we overlooked the river and wildlife . Seating inside and out on the deck. There's a campground and kayak ramp to the river right in the parking lot. It's worth a stop. This place was awful. We were here for over 2 hours before we got our food. Our food was delivered to another table and we got our appetizer and toast after we were done with our food. The food was not good at all. There was hardly any meat on our ribs and they were very dry. My husband got a brisket sandwich and his bun was soggy. They did not even offer to discount our bill. This was not our servers fault, but she could have spoke with management to at least give us some kind of discount. read more

This is a local's hidden gem. If you like some old fashioned BBQ or Florida delicacies like gator bites then this is the place for you. This is not a place for you if you aren't okay with picnic tables and plastic cutlery. This is a place is you like local craft beers and a selection of awesome BBQ sauces. This is not a place for you if you mind a few bugs flying around your picnic table while you enjoy the warm Florida nights beside the Myakka River. This place is outstanding for some good local BBQ and on many nights a great local musician. It's a little out of the way but worth the drive down E Venice Road!!! read more

This much more a tourist stop. The food isn't great. You sit on picnic tables. Pay a 10 per cent tip added without your approval . You stand in line to order. Thee family runs this and Sharkeys and Finns. They can afford to pay their help without forcing patrons to pay a 10% premium for food. Dusty rustic place. I'd suggest go see it eat elsewhere read more

The atmosphere was quaint and the view on the river was beautiful. We had appetizers of fried green tomatoes and smoked wings. Would've like a couple more slices of fried green tomatoes (order has 3 slices) but the sauce was very good. Smoked wings were tasty. The food was a mixture of Bar-b-que and seafood. We had the Bar-B-Que and it was very good. Meat could've been warmer, sides were piping hot. Service was timely and servers were very attentive. read more

How fun! Great rustic place for BBQ. Great location down by the river. Has music, look at the site for performers. There is beer and wine only. Which fits the place. Enjoyable spot on the Myakka. Dine under roof or out in the open. It rained on our day so we were inside. Service fast and friendly. The road to get to them is around a quarter mile maybe and horrible --- a dusty washboard that 10 mph is too fast. The city should fix it, asap. read more

Had such a nice time sitting near the water eating. I must have driven by this place 1,000 times and finally decided to see what it was all about. The food and atmosphere did not dissapoint! The weather was perfect and there were no bugs bothering me as I ate. I got the pulled chicken and my bf got the kielbasa hoagie. Can't wait to go back and try something else! Fun, wholesome indoor/outdoor Venice Florida staple. The live music is always a hoot and those home made chips taste just as good as you'd think. If you love shrimp, definitely get the fish, so good! And don't forget to save room for the boat tour. Worth it, in all honesty. 5/5 for wholesomeness and catfish. Will be back to try the BBQ, y'all be raving about it read more

If you want to see old Florida this is the place for you! Your in the woods on the Miakka river. They bring in great music. You order from a counter and the food is brought to your picnic table. Word of advice. The tip is added to your order. read more

The ribs looked good on the plate turned upside down but once turned over the tops were burnt and the meat was also very dry. Also the house salad, i had to ask for cheese and croutons, it came with one slice of tomato and one slice of cucumber. So the house salad is quite bland just a heads up. Will try again, hopefully just an off day with the meats.

Texas bbq has always been at the top of my list after traveling and working in Texas for decades and experiencing what I think is some of the best on the planet. I admit my expectations were pretty high long before I walked through the door here - just from the exterior and interior ambiance I immediately knew these people are serious bbq people and some of the friendliest you'll ever meet. In my opinion eating bbq should be an experience yes the meat preparations are of the utmost most importances but the sides, and desserts also have to be on point as well and of course fresh brewed tea. I wanted to try it all which is not reasonable so I read the menu, scanned the daily specials board(s) and also considered the recommendations by our wonderful server. We enjoyed some great sandwiches and sides and couldn't of had a better lunch during our drive through southwest Florida. Chopped Brisket Sandwich - the bun was fresh and toasted perfectly so it held up to the sauce that I drenched on the beautifully smoked meat, the lean to fat ratio was absolutely perfect and the smoked flavors came through making this one of the best bbq sandwiches I've eaten in a very long time. Pulled Pork Sandwich - the perfectly smoked pork was piled high and very lean, this is a big and delicious work of art. We ordered the sauce on the side so we could control the portion and it worked out great. Pinto Beans - these beans are cooked down until they melted into the smooth and creamy broth that was filled with onions and jalapeño peppers - these are a must try especially if you top them with some fresh raw onion and a few dashes of the Tabasco Pepper Vinegar table side the only thing I regret is that I didn't get a quart of these to take back to the campground. Fried Okra - Crispy deliciousness a southern delicacy served with ranch dressing, this combination is never a disappointment when done right and they do the okra right here. It was nice to get pickles and raw onions on the side, in my opinion if a bbq joint misses this step they don't understand what a bbq experience should be. We really enjoyed our meals here and appreciated the hospitality from the staff, great food, great service all at a reasonable price is always a winning combination, this is definitely a place I hope to return to soon...

Definitely check out Snook Haven. It is like old Florida on the Myakka River. Super casual dining experience which I always appreciate. They have a walk up area where you order at a window and they bring you your food wherever you sit or they have a dine in service where you have a traditional waiter. The catfish bites are great and I love the brisket sandwich. Also the salads are fresh and huge. Don't forget to sign up for the Logan River tour to catch some gator viewing. I always bring my friends here when they are in town. Also live music is always happening and the owner here is just so nice and friendly. read more

We live 5 minutes from Snook Haven and would love to make it our local hangout- but the food is awful!!!! Sharkys is our other favorite, but we would spend so much more time and money at the Snook if only the food was better. HATE the potato chips, ugh.... I ordered the Cowboy Burger with house chips. It was cooked perfectly to order. A little bland for my liking but over all experience with this burger was comfortable.
