How can I NOT love an organization that gave us our sweet Kylo Ren? I stumbled upon his adoptee page and instantly fell in love. I visited him at one of their adoption fairs and signed the paperwork and paid the $300 deposit on the spot. It did take a while from the time I paid my deposit to the time I was able to bring him home, but I think that was because I was so anxious to get him. The fee includes the microchipping and neutering which SNIPSA also handled. The surgery went well and now Kylo is all set. I can tell they don't really have time for training of any sorts because this little guy just does his own thing. I don't fault that for them since they probably have a lot going on. Kylo has been a very welcome and needed addition to our home and I'm thankful SNIPSA was able to give that to us. read more

A fantastic, well run organization that saves the lives of numerous dogs and cats. I was looking for a companion for my two year old, friendly mix who l had adopted from Austin ACS. I wanted a dog that was medium sized and house trained and playful and got along well with other dogs and with cats. Preferably a dog who was reasonably attractive and under five years old. My sister volunteers at a shelter in Maryland and told me l would never find such a dog. She said l would have to settle for less. Not so! I looked on the SNIPSA website and they had wonderful, beautiful dogs of all ages and breed mixes with every attribute imaginable. So l picked a German Shepherd mix named Hottie who has proven to be everything SNIPSA said and more! SNIPSA spayed her and treated her heart worm and now she's a beloved member of my family. first off they borderline gave declawed my cat without our consent and she was supposed to just get a spay and routine vaccination now we're up in 1000+ vet fees trying to cure her from everything they did she was a prefect healthy cat before this and now she's sad depressed can't eat or drink it's been almost 5 days since the spay and she's just been worsening everyday she got mucus that smells pouring out her mouth and the animal hospital we went to let us know they cut her tongue horribly too when they were putting her under anesthesia it looks like and gave her a life long disease from said cut most likely from them being hygienic if you really care about your pet never bring them here their supposed to be helping animals and families and they just ruined a young cats life i don't know how these money hungry people sleep at night when we tried calling them to get answers we got blocked on social media and our phone number they don't really want to help you they just want to get their donations for their money scheme read more

I love SNIPSA having added two furry friends to our family through this organization. We first became aware of them while they hosted an adoption event at the Pearl. Having recently lost our Maine Coon, we happened to pass by and spot his doppelgänger, a beautiful three month old kitten. We filled out the paperwork but with no carrier they, in putting the pets safety first, had us pick him up at a later date when he had received his last shot and we had a carrier. Willie Nelson is now a beloved family member - and arrived healthy with all shots , chipped and neutered. Many of their pets are fostered until it's time for adoption so are used to families and ready to go to their forever home We returned to them to get a second kitten - this time a teeny baby which meant we had to leave a deposit and sign a contract agreeing to bring him back to be neutered as he was a tad too young - which I think is excellent as the responsible thing to do. They fixed him as agreed and he is a healthy cute new addition to our family who rules rtf house and food bowl The animals are deeply cared for, by loving foster parents and so social that they make a great new companion. SNiPSA is the best! We got our lovely Levi here a few months ago and he is the most precious jewel that we are so fortunate to have found. We met him through their fostering program which allows the animals to socialize and interact with people and other animals alike. You can tell that the people running this organization truly care for animals and their well being. They find animals from kill shelters and they bring them to SNIPSA and have saved their lives. This is the most fantastic organization. SNIPSA rescues abandoned animals and strays from being euthanized at animal control. Since they do not have a facility all their animals are being fostered with families in San Antonio. They vet the animals, vaccinate them, have them fixed and micro-chipped before they adopt them out. They work hand in hand with other local rescue groups and are pushing to have San Antonio "No-Kill" by 2012! Shannon Espy is the vet that treated my "Henry"....She was so moving that I ended up fostering a pup and after he is fixed tomorrow he will go to his forever home. I recommend SNIPSA to anyone looking to adopt a dog or cat. You can view their rescues on-line and fill out an application. After you fill out the application and a quick home visit, you can adopt. Dogs are $150-$200 and cats are $85...the rates are a steal considering how much it costs to vet your pet with shots and vaccinations. Do not buy dogs from here or cats they don't care about their adoptees. I was the 1st person to fill out application for 2 westies. The organization lied to me. I have been waiting for phone calls anout the progress of spay and nuetering of the 2 dogs. I called 4 times in past 9 days. No one called me. All of a sudden i get a hold of them and they tell me they have been adopted. Complete liars and rude people working at this company. SNIPSA is amazing! We rescued two puppies that were abandoned in our neighborhood. We emailed every shelter and no kill organization we could possibly find and within a day, Shannon emailed us back and set up an appointment to examine, neuter and get them up to date on their vaccines. They took pictures of them and had them on the website within 2 days. It was such a great experience to attend 2 separate adoption events and meet all the wonderful people who foster and volunteer for the organization. We met so many awesome people who are active in the struggle to turn this city into a "no kill" city by 2011. We grew to love the pups so much but being military and only having 2 weeks left in San Antonio, there was no way we could keep them living in hotels. Even with the time crunch, everyone worked so hard to find them a good home and really genuinely cared for these sweet puppies. I really like the fact that they make every single adoption go through and application process to guarantee as much as they can that their animals will go to good homes. They charge a very reasonable adoption fee and considering that all their animals have their medically needs taken car of in advance, it's not asking much. Especially when it goes right back into the organization and what they do for the animals. Adoption was a success. We met a really nice couple with a young daughter at an adoption event at PetSmart over the weekend who were looking to adopt a rescue pup. Our boys were so sweet together they decided to take BOTH! They just picked them up today with brand new collars and a promise to take great care of them and enroll in dog training classes. I drove to San Antonio to adopt a puppy from these folks. All the babies were in foster so they brought me a few to meet and choose from. You could tell the pups were well cared for and had been seen by a vet. They checked my references, called my vet in Austin, all that jazz. Only negative was they sprung a charge on me at the end for the collar and tag that they put on the puppy without telling me it would cost $25. They acted like it was part of the adoption fee. I could have gotten a collar and tag for less somewhere else. read more

The site makes it easy to search for dogs and to make the right selection for your family. VOLUNTEERS: We arrived at the SNIPSA area at the Pearl Farmer's Market, and it was teeming with adoptable dogs. We looked at some older dogs (2yo) and some fresh young pups (1mo) and chose a 4mo puppy who was relaxing in the heat. The volunteers let us walk her around, and we we also able to take crated pups out to hold. The volunteers were knowledgable about each dog and got us the form for ours immediately. We were 100% satisfied. CARE: Within a day of taking her home, our poor pup showed signs of Parvo :( Our foster clearly understands dogs' needs and had been very supportive in the adoption process. We decided to call her with our dilemma. The foster mom took her to the veterinarian for us, and she took care of our puppy in recovery to ensure she was sending us home with a healthy puppy. SNIPSA is covering all associated costs, which is great! We love our new puppy, and SNIPSA made it easy to take her home. Terrible! I'd leave no stars if I could. Do not ever adopt from SNIPSA. They overcharge and when I adopted my dog from them three years ago I showed them that she had a couple of ticks and they just ripped them out. When I left I noticed that she was covered in ticks all over her. I took her to the nearest vet and they said that she was invested with ticks and she was also way too young to have been spayed already (which ended up giving her an incontinence problem). They told me that she was a Jack Russell and Chihuahua mix but she is over 30lbs and looks nothing like either breed. They are not knowledgeable and very negligent when it comes to these sweet puppies. read more

Snipsa is great! I adopted a golden retriever through them over a year ago. They were very organized, had the dog neutered and vaccinated and treated the bite wound he suffered in the pound. I have to give my two cents about SNIPSA even though I live in Austin. I was looking on petfinder online for a small dog to be a new best friend for my obscenely small chihuahua when I stumbled across a little dog that stole my heart. I filled out an application to adopt this little guy and my lack of patience talked my husband into driving to San Antonio to meet said doglet even before I was approved. I picked him out of the crowd of dogs that day and immediately fell in love. They accepted our application and we drove home with him in my lap. I cannot express enough gratitude for this organization. Having worked as a vet technician for some time, I've seen my share of sad stories. SNIPSA takes those sad stories and turns them into happy endings. They find adoptable animals and see that they are healthy, fixed, and emotionally fit for adoption then they find them new homes. My little dog is proof that they're doing a good thing. He is happy and healthy and we couldn't be more pleased with our new addition. SNIPSA is saving lives. read more

I adopted my puppy from SNIPSA. What attracted me was the easy and friendly-user website. I navigated right to the puppies, and there was a small profile for each dog. Also, kudos to the photographer because they snap the best pics of all their animals. SNIPSA was quick to respond to any questions I had. I applied online, and I heard from them immediately. The foster mom called to set up an appointment. The only critique I had was that I had to buy the nametag before I could pick up the dog. The gentleman at Petsmart said that I could come back and exchange the name tag for another one in case I wanted to change the puppy's name. I should have done it immediately, but I was anxious to get my puppy home. Since the Petsmart was on the other side of where Ilive, I decided to keep the name. That's a very minor problem, but just in case you want to adopt your puppy from SNIPSA, be prepared to get the nametag before you pick up your pet. read more
