They will gouge you so be prepared. They didn't fulfill my order correctly and requested more money to correct their mistake.

I am giving one star for a few different reasons…read more Overall, the business practices curated by both Skyler and his wife Ashley are incredibly inappropriate. I will start from the beginning to ensure that my personal story and the overarching theme are both discussed. I was approached by Ashley via Instagram to see if I wanted to come in to make music. The way everything was initially portrayed to me was that they were veterans of the music industry and looking to work with fresh talent/book out their studio. I remember Ashley briefly name dropping on our initial call and telling me they could also get me signed to different record labels. I remember telling her that I enjoyed being independent and was really just looking to work with as many different producers to experience different sounds. When I reflect back, I realize I naively brushed over the name drops and didn't recognize how much "talk" like that is a red-flag. A big sign you are getting scammed. I went to meet at their house for my first session where I was given the cost of what one mixed and mastered track would be. I remember thinking about how it would be an investment as the cost was steeper than I was used to, however, seeing the platinum records throughout the studio (which I've now been shown are fakes after doing research... and if you look up skyler Lexx and attempt to find any of his credits... they don't exist... legit producers will be all over album credits if they've truly worked with a big star.) seemed like a decent indicator that this was a legit opportunity. What's the worst that could happen, I don't like the song?... well, to say I misjudged that assessment would be an understatement. Throughout the making of the first song, they kept throwing different "ego-boosting" promises my way. Things like, hey ya know, you really should look into going to these record labels, let's put a package together. (The cost of the package was never discussed to me.. more on this part later.) I remember thinking "why not" see what going through a label could be like and going from there. Everything started to crash and burn shortly as the first track was being recorded. Skyler has a very "specific" way of working and I remember thinking just how much the entire track was not for me. I should have spoken up but naively thought i was working with a semi music legend and didn't want to "come off as hard to work with." Totally different vibe and they wanted to "present me as a Jessica Simpson type performer".... um... I'm a lo-fi and blues singer that likes to dress like Carlton from the fresh prince, lol...... what?... I then received the finished product and I don't know how to explain it... but I still cannot find anything to like about it. But, hey, I should have done better, whatever. Anyways, after realizing I paid a significant sum of money for something I didn't like.. I began to feel extremely pressured into "creating this record label package." I returned for a song-writing session on a second beat, was not interested, and decided that was the end of my experience working with the family. Keep in mind I already paid an additional 2.5k just to book the second song session. I felt like it was more than enough payment to walk away unscathed but alas... nope! (Side note: During your sessions they will talk poorly about past clients and random people constantly. It's very uncomfortable) Little did I know, he kept a recording of me doing a rough take into the mic trying to initially write to the beat... Well, guess who then was told I owed $6000 for a song I never actually recorded? Me. Yes, that rough take he says is the song. Anyways, all I am saying is that if I could take back the entire experience with skyler, I would. It was one of those life experiences that taught me what NOT to do. Also, the below review by Kiran is correct. He WILL threaten and use lawyers to scare and intimidate you if you don't give in to his payment demands.. and it is definitely why you don't see more negative reviews. I will finish this review by stating that I really wanted to like Skyler and there were moments where he acted very cool... it just became a money pit and I am still having to pay off a song I never even made.

Skyler has the contacts to put Cienna Plant together with songwriters and mixers and meeting with labels. The experience and what Cienna and I as her parent have learnt is invaluable. We have both grown from the experience and Ashley and Skyler were both very encouraging and able to give so much feedback to help guide us along the way. It has been months since we recorded the songs with them and they are still guiding us. We hope to do more with them in the future and hope to keep the relationships going well into the future.
