This is a hidden gem of NW DC. Whenever I sneak away from my office and head uptown, Ms Angela Lee is there with a smiling face. She knows some folks by name. She recognizes me only because I come there once or twice a month. This is not a place that you want to come to if you're watching your weight - but the food is good. The wings and potatoes are seasoned nicely then cooked in a pressure cooker! Yum! Yum! Yum! Make sure you get mumbo sauce for the wings. It's a staple in many dc carry outs. This stuff is delicious!

Chicken, potato wedges and mumbo sauce on the side!

The tiny little place with four seats and greasy orange floors has been in the Washington Post. Let that speak to the merit of the mumbo sauce and the crunchiest chicken wings and potato wedges. The owner has been working there about 15 years, but the restaurant itself has been in the family for about 47 years. Being from out of state, I had no idea what in the world mumbo sauce was, but boy am I glad I do now. Smoky's makes some of the best mumbo sauce out there! They make it in house and it's fantastic on the wings and potato wedges. There aren't a lot of people sitting in the place, but if there are, they're usually regulars. The line goes out the door though, people love taking their food elsewhere to nosh and get greasy, I'm guessing the privacy of their own homes. Definitely stay and strike up a conversation with one of the cute little ladies that work there though!

Reminded me of back home. Western omelette with home fries. Eggs were soft. Potatoes on point.

Best breakfast and friend chicken wings in town. You can go to some fancy place to have brunch. But this place wins my heart with their chicken and waffles. Eggs are alway fluffy. And the owner's daughter always greets you when you walk in.

A wonderful time is to be had at Little Coco's Aperitivo Hour…read more $36 will get you bottomless cocktails, wine or beer (choose from their special menu), and nibbles of garlic bread with a delicious mix of parmesan, whipped ricotta and mozarella cheeses, caesar salad, and a single meatball with polenta. That evening I had a hankering for negronis, and true to the bottomless offer, they kept them coming! No sooner than I had taken the last sip of one drink than the next one appeared. No looking around for a waiter! I was really impressed with their attentiveness. The hospitality is truly impeccable. When I gave feedback that the caesar salad was way too salty, the manager understood precisely what had gone wrong and instantly replaced it. I would have liked two meatballs rather than one, which would have felt generous, but this was not intended to be a meal, after all. We also ordered the corn and jalapeno fritters (which were probably fabulous when they were originally conceived but not currently being executed well) and for dessert a fantastic zabaglioni. Little Coco's is casual but stylish, a fun place to go, as is to be expected at all of Jackie Greenbaum's spots. Aperitivo Hour is M-F from 5-7. Highly recommend!

Main courses (Cacio e Pepe, chicken Parm, goat cheese ravioli and pasta bolognese) were generous and well prepared. The Cacio e Pepe was well seasoned, the Chicken Parm was huge and an excellent value, especially if you add spaghetti to it for an extra $5. The goat cheese ravioli was a creative dish with corn in the sauce. The Caesar salad was a large portion- enough for two to share - but much too salty. The desserts were good but nothing special, compared to the main courses.

Flat Out Burger and Flat Out Fries were so good that I'm still thinking about them days later, planning my next trip back there! Service was excellent, even though their 2-person team was very busy. My friends ordered the garlic Parmesan wings, bbq wings, old bay fries and salmon sliders and I didn't hear one bad review. All of the staff was friendly (ask for Bre she'll take care of you). Both DJs were a vibe and definitely had me and friends there way longer than we anticipated. The only reason I took away a star is because the air conditioner didn't seem to be working. They did have huge fans in there to try and cool it down but they didn't seem to work. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by Entitlement Lounge. You won't be disappointed!
