There are some reasonable cigars and it's always a nice vibe anytime I sit in for a smoke.

Smokey Bear on 87th and Kedzie is an excellent place to hang out and smoke cigars. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. There is a variety of cigars. The prices are good also. Some are cheaper and some are more expensive than other places but the overall quality of this place is excellent. The only thing is that the parking lot is small. Because it has a nice intimate setting, if you get there late then all of the parking spaces and seats are full and you will be forced to go somewhere else. This one is a lot better than the one on 105th and western. With that being said, I would recommend that you get there early. read more

Highly recommend. If you're on the south side of Chicago and want to smoke a cigar, definitely give Smokey Bear a look. The star here is the selection; the number of brands they carry (and the depth within each brand) is on par with the best in the city. Pricing is ok; I saw several sticks which were a good deal (i.e. Liga, Padron) but several others were on the high side (i.e. Fuente.) The sit down lounge isn't big, but it's cozy. Everyone who came in was super chill, and they have a number of TVs to keep you entertained. If you're planning to sit in the lounge, you have to purchase 2 sticks. They had water and soft drinks, and I believe it's BYOB for alcohol. read more

Went in last week for the first time. I knew it was gonna be good when patrons sitting in the lounge greeted me before the salesperson did. Big selection of quality cigars, no garbage stuff here. I forgot the gentleman's name that helped me, but he was knowledgeable and gave me a couple of ideas as well. Then the same patrons greeted me when I left. Excellent shopping experience! Walked in looking for a couple of "It's a boy" cigar boxes and was immediately pointed in the right direction. The person working (might've been the owner) gave us a discount for picking up two boxes and threw in a bunch of matches and a couple of cutters. Very friendly! Gone are the days where good smoke shops still stand strong, especially in the south side. Same owners And same setup for as long as I can remember. The Young lady was very sweet and knowledgeable too. I am always impressed with the inventory here, they Carry some of the best brands. Cigars are tucked away neatly in this humidor, large selection and everything is labeled and grouped accordingly. It just smells amazing brings me back to my days when I managed a smoke shop. I had not been in the store in at least 5 years. Completely revamped large retail area with incredible selection. The old humidor is now a storage area. literally, something for everyone from flavored to full bodied beasts. Their cigar prices are comparable to any on the south side, and yes while that is way more than you pay at the on-line shops there is no risk of getting dry sticks a week later or being fooled by a picture. You pay for the brick-and-mortar. I was surprised to learn they still had my loyalty program information saved after all that time and they let me know what I needed for my next reward. The staff was friendly and walked me around giving me information on all the smokes I was looking at and I looked at a lot - I don't have a go-to, l try something new every time I stock up my humidor. The only downside is parking - park in the strip-mall across the street if you don't like to cut across traffic into the postage stamp of a parking lot. read more

Uhhhh what a sess pool. Old and beat down shop that has been in the neighborhood forever. Bad location and prices are thru the roof! Tried to buy the same can of butane I purchase in dupage for 2 dollars they have it for 6.25. Their excuse is being located in cook county. Yeah hahaha, I'm sure this place will get video gaming soon and we all know what that does to places.... Long and short of it whatever your looking for cigars, cigarettes, accessories or even lighters go someplace else. Rather go to Binnys and buy cigars at least their humidor staff won't get in your face because your voice hasn't gone raspy from a pack a day for 30 years so your not an experienced smoker. read more

I'm in Chicago once a week for work. I've been checking out the various cigar lounges in the area. Today, I decided to give Smokey Bear a try. I was greeted by a sweet, young lady literally before the door closed behind me. I explained that I've never been before, and she graciously showed me around. The humidor has most of the brands I enjoy. I bought 2 Kristoffs, which I'd tried before and really liked. The humidor is set up nicely. My stogies seem to be right at 70% RH and are burning perfectly. Prices are pretty decent...about $1 per stick higher than I normally see at home. But that's perfectly understandable with Chicago's high tax rates, and the fact that I can smoke them on premises. Minus 1/2 star for the slightly higher prices than I'm used to seeing. Also, minus 1/2 star due to one of the regulars pumping up the jams on his Bluetooth speaker. All in all, I like it here, and I'll definitely be back. read more

Always a great selection of premium cigars available. Cigars are stored well and not dried out like a lot of stores. I've been coming here for 10+ years and have never had an issue. Lived 2 miles from this place for over 4 years and didn't know about it until wife surprised me with a variety of cigars for our anniversary. GREAT SPOT! She was impressed with how helpful they were, and I found the same when I got there. They showed me how to season my table top humidor the _right_ way, showed me how to refill a lighter and spent over an hour just helping me out. Great cigar selection, but, Smokey Bear's prices are much higher than their competitor's prices. If I'm buying cigars in chicago, I'll go to Iwan Ries Tobacco downtown and pay less with a even better selection, and, I could smoke my cigar and pipe there. HEY, Smokey Bear, we pay enough in state tobacco tax, we don't need to pay you an extra $2.00 per cigar... And for a box?... Forget about it.... This shop is nice, but their tobacco is almost $8.00 more for a pound than it is in Uptown Chicago. However, I went in a couple of days ago and was able to purchase tubes for the very same price, $3.99 as I am used to in Uptown. They had a great selection of cigars, papers, and various smoking utensils too. Clean, quiet, and I will go there again if the bring their price for a pound down to $20.00. read more
