Me and my husband just went to Smokestack Pottery for a date night, and I simply can not say enough about Sue! She has a great LARGE space in Fort Collins for her studio and offers so many great options to the novice or expert pottery. We had never even touched clay before but really wanted to get a feel for it and learn what throwing was all about. Sue gave us exactly that! she was a great teacher, giving enough advice while still letting you really learn. We each got to make four pieces of pottery, our choice of what! We loved getting to see our improvement from our first piece to our forth. Sue is also the sweetest person and will put you right at ease and like you have been friends for a long time. She provided snacks and water and let us know we could bring any drinks of our choice as well. Its a minimum of two people, but you can also bring all the girls for a great girls night out as well, or a fun double date. We personally loved having all her attention to ourselves :-) Sue also rents out studio spaces to potters and does seven week classes I believe. I cant wait to join one and really getting to learn the whole process! She knows a lot and explained things clearly as we asked about different glazing techniques and the different kinds of Kilns, of which she has several options available at her studio. I would fully recommend you check out Smokestack and take a class if you have ever had any interest in pottery, or even if you haven't. It was by far the most fun me and my husband have had on a date, and we aren't even artsy people :-) Did I mention it was only $35 each!?!? Included the two hours of instruction, snacks and four pieces of pottery! Go see Sue and be ready to have a great time! read more
