Nice business! Came here first thing in the morning when they opened. They were the closest one to my job. Was done in like 15 minutes and cost $68 (I was joking with the cashier and said 'whats up with the VIP discount?' he said 'ok $10 off'! That's ok with me! People, closed mouths don't get fed so it never hurts to ask. Didn't even need to print out the online coupon (which I didn't know about until after the fact). Also, they electronically send results to DMV which is a nice feature. I literally went straight to the DMV 10 minutes later to get registration and used the new self service machine without any problems. A lil pricier than other places but totally worth it! This place has one of the best customer service! First of all, they have a very friendly employee sitting in the front desk, greeting you nicely. Their service was on par as well as their time efficiency. I was expecting to wait for a long time when in fact in only took less than 10 mins to finish everything that was needed. DO NOT BELIEVE THE WEBSITE. Website says they are open 7 days a week, even during COVID. BF and I phone the Irvine location at 9:18 AM on Sunday. No answer. We go there. There is an attendant there, but he says the "place is closed", even though doors and bays are wide open. No answering machine on the phone to say it is closed. No technician and no ability to even answer basic questions like 1. Are you able to smog test an older car? 2. How much does it cost? No posted prices or handout paper flyer price sheets in the shop. No prices posted on the web page. Attendant not trained to tell you anything other than"come back Monday". Could not even tell us if the other locations had a technician or someone who could answer our questions over the phone. Did not even know their numbers. Wasted our time and gas going here for nothing. Nonexistent effort by this business to help in any fashion. Despite what is said below, there was no posted sign that they were closed. Doors and bays were open when we drove up and when we left. Notice that he is not offering to fix any of the above deficiencies which are all 100% reasonable. Go elsewhere. Tucked away in an industrial park, I felt like my car didn't belong there, among all the bigger trucks I kept passing on the way in. But, it's convenient to work, so I was able to get the smog test taken care of over my lunch hour. The test itself only took 20 minutes. Was pleasantly surprised at the amount of up-to-date magazines in the lobby. I'd recommend calling ahead and making an appointment, though, if you plan on stopping by over your lunch hour. I have a coupon from VR Smog in Santa Ana for $21.75. Called Smog time since the yelp listing says "From the business: We accept all competitor coupons!" and asked the price. He said $56. I asked if he would match the VR coupon price and the answer was "no, that's too low. He asked what branch I was calling, I said Tustin, he said I'd reached Irvine, and he won't match the price. So let's start here originally came to the smog shop because it was right up the street from my house unfortunately that day they were having problems with their system and they were unable to Spohn my car that's fine the gentleman was very polite later on call me that day when their system was up and running. The second time when I return to this smog shop it was the following week to get my car smog the gentleman on the phone was clearly having a bad day he was speaking to a customer and instead of giving her the complete price he told her that she could do the math. Secondly when he came out to check the Vin number on my car I unlocked it and offered to show him trying to be helpful. This is where the fun part started he began to yell at me asking why I am trying to show him how to do his job. Yes, giving them 5 Stars today, reason: Went on to their web site, they are still giving out $15 dollar off coupons for either a "Test Only" smog check or a "Normal" smog check. Luck out today, came by 11:30 AM, I was the only customer (usually they have one to maybe two customers ahead of me) in line. After filling out the necessary paper work, it took the Technician about 10 mins to smog test my car. Now I don't feel so guilty when I have my engine idling at the drive thru at the long lines at In-N-Out Burgers which is just up the road from this business. HA! I would give them less than 1 star if I could. Don't come to Irvine location for an oil change - they prioritize smog checks and other repairs. I was the only one there for oil change and waited for more than 2 hours while all other customers who came in for smog checks had their cars serviced before mine. Came in today at lunchtime to get my Porsche smogged. The owner Mr Molina I believe said he doesn't smog Porsches? Wtf? I've been to 2 other places in Irvine around bake Rd and they stick the tester in the muffler and plug in the obd computer to download emissions and that's it. Mr Molina says he needs to get in the mid engine cover. Wtf? And I'm first in line with 2 others behind me and says he's too busy. Ok no worries. Bad review coming. read more

Here on a Saturday afternoon to get my car smog checked and am thoroughly impressed with the professionalism that J.C. provides. Not only is this gentleman warm and welcoming, but he even saw that I pulled out my phone and casually said "I see you have a coupon you want to use, let me take care of that for you". Most small businesses offer coupons to bring customers in, but then they aren't happy when you use it. SmogTime, and especially J.C., seem genuinely happy to have the customer's business. I had checked in here before with this car for a smog check. Great service then. I can not express how grateful I am for Smog Time automotive repair! They saved my PT CRUISER!! The timing belt broke and with this particular car when that happens the valves get damaged. I had just had new valves in December 2018. I was devastated. The 1st compression test after new belt instal did not give good results. The professional mechanics were not going to accept it! They continued to work on it. They did another test with a positive result! my car runs great. Finding a good mechanic you can trust is very hard. I really got burned by my last one. Super friendly service! I needed a smog check for the dmv and decided to stop by while I was running some errands in the area. They started on my car the moment I hopped out and asked for a smog check! My brake lights just happened to turn on that day too, and they said they could check that for me also. Turns out nothing was wrong, they said the brakes looked brand new so they weren't going to replace anything and wanted me to know. I was in and out in under a half hour.
