Clams

Order taker borderline rude. Clam chowder pretty good a little thin. Fried clams awful. Fishy and tastes like old oil. I've eaten fried clams everywhere along the eastern seaboard from my entire life. This one I had to actually spit out. Do they add sugar to the batter? Not sure. Always very smoky inside too from their cooking equipment. Don't think we will come back.

Place is fantastic. Friendly employees, great variety of different foods on the menu. Seafood chowder and clam chowder are amazing. They also have Zek's BBQ on the menu as their family.

Visited this restaurant for lunch with family while traveling. Order 3 different soups, the lobster bisque didn't have any flavor, corn chowder was okay, clam chowder was okay but also lacked flavor. They may have been over whelmed with our large group as the soup sizes were all mixed up. Did have a nice salad but it so many onions, had to pick them off. The lobster roll wasn't bad, it was cooked in butter. Fries were cold and overcooked. Also had the clamp strip and it was pretty good.

I thought food was delicious. Hot and plenty of it and very fresh. Ate outside, it was really good. Would Definately stop again and try other things as well. Chowda was excellent , loaded with clams, creamy and delicious. Would order again. Reuben a pleasant surprise! Gal at counter a little attitude, but food was a 10!

Such a cool nautical vibe just a few minutes north of Northampton. Smithsonian offers a menu of soups that are absolutely delicious - clam chowder, lobster bisque, chili. Menu is great and sure to delight anyone with a desire to indulge in a seafood experience. Don't let me forget the cooler of cupcakes! We had the clam chowder, hot and chock full of clams and potatoes and calamari for the appetizer. Both choices were fantastic. Eat in or dine out in the expansive nautical parking lot. Limited beer, wine, water and soda.

Ordered take out today and have been here plenty of times. It seems each time the quality of the soup gets worse. Today I ordered vegetable soup and my co-worker got tomato bisque. Neither of us could eat much. The tomato bisque was WAY over salted. The vegetable soup was not vegetable soup. Yes it had vegetables in it but it was more like vinegary french onion soup with green beans. We were sorely disappointed and had we ordered there (instead of discovering the terrible soups once we were back to work) we definitely wouldn't asked for a refund.

I honestly didn't expect much from the name, location, or building. But I was blown away! We got there between rushes, and even though the poor employees seemed few, they held it together and kept everything moving. They are a Coke establishment, nice cold beverages perfect for hot days. The lobster bisque was thick with a satisfying taste of lobster (although not a lot of lobster meat). The fried clams were perfectly fried and tasted fantastic. Plus, they're one of the few places I've seen where they have a price, and not market price. There is outdoor and limited indoor seating. The bathroom was clean, although possibly next to a fridge given how cool it is.

For appetizers we had oysters and the grilled octopus. Both of which were delicious, but the serving size on the appetizer was very small. Next was the arugula salad. Really nothing special here. Very basic salad and portion size again was small. Then our main courses. I got the monkfish. The flavor was good, but again, SUPER small portion size for a main dish. My husband got the duck and same story there. Great flavor, very small portion size. For dessert we got the cheesecake and the chocolate raspberry torte like bowl. I thought these were both pretty decent. In terms of the ambiance, my husband and I both noted they needed to dim the lights by about 50%. It was very bright in there. Otherwise, the building is beautiful and they've done a good job. Overall, food is good, I would just love to see larger portion sizes and faster service time. Im happy to see a new place in town, so this feedback is not meant to be harsh, just some suggestions on how to improve.

I'm a vegetarian, and although a couple dishes had the option to swap the seafood for tofu, veggie options were lacking. The sesame cauliflower was very good as an app! I had wanted to try the burnt end mushrooms but they were no longer on the menu. Service was incredibly slow. I know the waitress was hustling and it's not her fault, but I'm not sure why it took 45 minutes for our entrees to come out. She kept apologizing and saying it would be out soon but we were there for a full 90 minutes before we got our entrees which was weird. I ordered the harvest bowl with tofu and it was fine. It was a big portion size, great variety of veggies, and the pesto was good. But there wasn't enough pesto for the whole dish and without the pesto, nothing else was seasoned at all. It was so bland. The tofu was just big chunks of lightly seared plain tofu. I saw on the menu you can order fish and chips with tofu instead, but it seems silly to come to a place known for seafood and swap their fish for tofu. Especially after eating the harvest dish, I don't know if they would even know how to properly prepare the tofu. Maybe this is a good spot for drinks and oysters but that's about it!

Thanksgiving buffet at Hotel Northampton, a quintessential, New England Thanksgiving. Done right…read moreas someone who has worked away through more Thanksgiving prix fixe menus and buffets I care to admit I can say with confidence that hotel Northampton delivered one of the most well executed holiday spreads I've experienced in Western Massachusetts. From the moment I stepped inside that historic lobby beautifully decorated for the season, warm, inviting and buzzing with celebratory energy, I knew I was in good hands. The staff had that polished anticipatory service style that instantly sets the tone for a seamless dining experience. The Thanksgiving buffet was thoughtfully, curated, and impeccably maintained throughout the seating. The carve of turkey was exceptionally moist, no small fete on a buffet line and the stuffing and mashed potatoes struck that perfect balance between upscale and comfort, familiar seasonal size or vibrant, fresh and clearly prepared with intention rather than filler. Special shout out to the carving station team who prepared a wonderful prime rib roast - they were not only efficient, but genuinely personable, the kind of hospitality that elevates a meal from good commemorable desserts, the pumpkin pie with a silky custard with just the right spice and the pecan pie was rich without being cloy. I may or may not have sampled more than one plate in the name of research. Service was consistently attentive without hovering. Plates were cleared promptly and check-in is perfectly timed. You can tell this team knows how to handle high volume holiday service while keeping the guest experience front and center. Hotel Northampton nails a classic New England Holiday vibe with elevated execution, relaxed, delicious beautifully organized Thanksgiving. I'd absolutely return next year and recommend it to anyone looking to celebrate without compromise.
