It is always extra informative because she talks out loud to herself as she diagnoses you! She is also top notch with patient education as well. I have never walked out of her office with questions or confusion about my care, and she always gives great tips as well e.g. make sure you are only drinking hot liquids with your sore throat; make sure you are only eating small meals to help with your nausea. Like all people, I'm sure she makes mistakes but she has never steered me wrong (and has even corrected errors and misdiagnoses of other MDs and NPs). Her prices are very reasonable and her office is clean and conveniently located near the hospital. It is a walk-in clinic but it may help to call in advance, especially on busy days like Mondays. Her office is closed on Fridays. She is also doing some aesthetic nursing now if you are interested in that kind of thing. The only reason I didn't give her four stars is that she seems to have been going through lots of staffing changes recently. I haven't cared for the last couple of receptionists. That is the only area I have any complaint and even in that area, services are adequate.

I couldn't find any doctor in California who provided the 6th edition impairment rating required by the DOL. I knew of a couple of places out of state, but you had to travel to them, plus they made you jump through hoops before they'd schedule an appointment! I was close to buying a plane ticket when my union called referring me to this facility. They said it was done remotely. I was skeptical but what did I have to lose? From the moment I called Meals & Tolar, they took care of everything. I think I paid $75 for them to organize my records for me rather than do it myself. It was worth every penny. Other than that, I never paid a dime. They sent me to a local physical therapist for the actual exam, and then I had a phone interview with Dr. Brien James. He couldn't have been nicer! At the end he told me he would submit the report to DOL, but warned me that it could take up to six moths to get my SA depending on whether it's accepted, denied or they want more info. I was shocked when in less than a month there was a mystery deposit in my account. I went on the ECOMP website and saw that my claim was accepted and that was my first payment, which would continue for the next two and a half years. The amount far exceeded what I was expecting! So if you're looking for an impairment rating, I'd highly recommend Meals & Tolar! You won't regret it!
