We were at this location once before and found it much more to our liking so Mr Cheeseburger had no problem making that u turn when I, much to my chagrin asked if he wanted Smash Burger! I have to admit the Cheeseburger, the one on the bun, not my husband was quite good. The egg bun was fresh and the hamburger was served hot, not lukewarm as I've had at other places. The shoestring fries were surprisingly just as good. I haven't tried the salad for some reason but I definitely will next time. To be honest, I came for the salad today. I've been here for a burger and it was decent enough, but the salads always look so pretty I wanted to try it. Man was I disappointed. The menu says for two dollars you can add a marinaded chicken breast. From what I could tell the chicken was marinated and salt and that's it. The quality control is totally non-existent. None of the training or procedures are being followed (the burgers are not smashed and have no browning on them). The chicken sandwiches are double the price of popeyes' and contain only the thinnest slice of chicken... surely about 2 - 3 oz at most. The boss wanted to give this place a try. Situated somewhere between In N Out and Red Robin's. Fancy burgers, lots of shakes, salads, sandwiches and bottled beer/wine. I guess I'd call it "upscale fast food". Decor was definitely "fast food". Not a place to while away some time. We both got chicken dishes. I guess the smash part comes from the the fact that the chicken is pounded thin. Makes for faster cooking? I wonder how thin they smash the beef for the burgers? Bottom line, these guys serve an above average fast food burger. I find myself gravitating more towards griddle cooked burgers over grilled and Smash Burgers fits the bit quite well. Juicy, flavorful burgers, not dessicated like some fast food places. The Double Triple had a good bun to meat to cheese to toppings ratio. The rosemary, garlic Smashtots were a nice side. Take your standard tots (and who doesn't love tots) and plus them up with tasty seasoning and you have Smashtots. Nothing fancy here, but if you want a good ol' burger and fries (or tots) to fill that craving, this is a pretty good choice. read more

MADDISON Is the star manager there. Now my issue is not with her but she fixed it. I Always have an issue with ordering and picking up food not complete or correct . I pick up food for friends due to I'm a dash and postmate driver. Friends trust me and I place their order and pick up food for them. Never a good moment with this location till now. They have a young lady manager that made my situation better. I'm a big guy with a not so nice attitude. She still held ground and made me relax than took over to fix any issues . She let me know to come to her with any future issues. Maddison is the best . I gave three stars for her. The restaurant is lucky to have her. It would of been one star. Had coupons so we tried the Triple-double with 2 patties a 2nd 3 slices of cheese and the barbeque, bacon.and cheddar with onion straws. Both were well cooked and nicely seasoned. Most places don't season their burgers, Smashburger does once the fresh not frozen beef hits the grill. A nice toasted bun and the famous smashfries with Olive oil and spices....worth every calorie. The shakes look pretty good as well as did the grilled chicken. They also have good looking salads and even flash fried veggies served with dressing. My wife and I have visited this restaurant twice over the past 2 months for inside dining. Both times I ordered a burger with mustard, pickles and sliced onion. The 1st time I received a cheeseburger. I thought that mistakes happen and their cheeseburger is OK but the same thing happened on the second visit. We were the only couple in the place at 11:30 AM. I didn't bring it too the attention of the restaurant. Maybe they would have replaced my meal but my replacement would have come later -- I can't figure out why these places can't get the order right the 1st time. I've been to other locations and have had great experiences. So i expected the same going to this new location...and was so excited because it was close to where I live! The last two times kind of did it for me...one to go order was awful! I ordered a sandwich with a bunch of toppings which I got charged for, got home and had a plain sandwich! Absolutely nothing on it. Buns, and chicken.. I guess I should've checked it before I left. This last time we ate there. Ordered our food and the cook seemed kind of irritated when we asked for crispy chicken for our salad...saying we were going to have to wait. We waited. Our salads came out and once again, things were missing on our meal. Asked one of the employees and he came up with a strange answer. Anyways, probably won't be back. Really loved the smash fries- it's a different taste which is unique from other burger places. Food arrived quickly and nice employees. Took the whole family to SmashBurger for dinner, my wife and I and our 5 kids. Horrible. Tasteless burgers. Kids meals came with like 5 fries .... literally 5 fries. When we asked to speak with someone regarding our meal we were told that's how they are made and that's what you get with a kids meal. The employees were on their phones at the cash registers, you can over hear them gossiping about people (VERY unprofessional!), and they are SO UNSANITARY. I've been to two other Smashburgers before but this location in Oro Valley was not a good experience. Ordering went fine but as I sat to wait for my food I noticed so many unsanitarry activites by the staff. A girl was making a shake and took a dirty cup out of a small fridge to measure. After pouring the finished shake into a to go cup, she wiped the edge of the tin cup with her hand and then proceeded to lick her fingers. Then reached for the to go cup, put a lid on it and handed it to the customer. Yuch. She then ran into the back room with the tin cup and just her manner made me think she took the leftovers to drink. I guess that's okay with management because the supervisor would drink his can of energy drink from the food prep table between sending out orders. And, a staff's soda drink is also on another food prep table. The holder with the straws, utencils, lemons, etc. looked sticky and dirty. Clearly not wiped down on a daily basis.
