My own dentist had retired, and I couldn't get seen at home in the Hudson Valley until September -- this was July. On a whim, I called Dr. Mara Mariana's office, frustrated and desperate. Despite being fully booked, they got me in within 24 hours. Dr. Mariana was kind, professional, and hands-down the best dentist I've seen in my 53 years. She quickly assessed the situation, explained my options clearly, and performed a painless extraction -- all within 20 minutes. I made it to my son's game an hour later, and days later I'm still pain-free for the first time in months. Her staff was equally wonderful -- compassionate and helpful. Her assistant even recommended a local historic bridge and swimming hole that became a surprise highlight of our trip. I never thought a dental visit would be one of the best parts of our short stay in Lake Placid, but it absolutely was. I'd drive 3.5 hours to see her again if I could!

The medical care was great. The buildings are not modern, but everything is clean and well taken care of. We could not be happier with the care that she received there. I just hope UVM Medical Center doesn't try to take them over. That would be a disaster.

They also do not provide you with a receipt suitable for you to submit to your insurance. The receipt that I was given did not even list the name of my provider. In addition, no one there was anywhere close to friendly. It was one of those instances where it appeared. Everybody hated their jobs. I had to use the bathroom to provide a urine specimen. I used the last few squares of toilet paper, and there was no new roles to be found. The toilet would not flush. After I soaked up my hands, I turned the water on to find it came out less than a trickle, basically running down the porcelain of the sink. I was so disgusted. The visit itself was $150, the specimen was $25. I most definitely do not recommend this facility.
