Made it out to SM Mall in Philippines, and since there was no Black owned bookstores as I traditaonally do, I went to National Book Store in the mall. I did look for books written by Black folks, I want to say I found maybe one or two non-fiction titles that didn't pique my interests. None written in the fiction genre. So I bought the Marvel Age of X-Man Prisoner X comic and a title written by a local Filipino author titled Luminous Mystique of Anais written by 4 Reuminct. I have yet to read either, but I will say I am disappointed in my self for not paying attention to what I was purchasing because I bought book 5 in an ongoing series. I may still read it, but I doubt if I will seek out the previous four books in the series. The only thing that I wish I had found at the bookstore was a more relaxed atmosphere that I;m used to from American culture, like a cafe, people sitting around talking, reading, pastries. I will say that I found it cool that the different places that I went to in Phillipines I saw a National Book Store.

My family had fun! We went here for ice skating, bowling and shopping! All in one place! The only bad thing is that their restrooms don't have toilet papers and the flush don't work as good! The toilet in the bowling alley is the worst!

This place is huge. This is my fifth visit since I move back from Chicago and I still get lost. I wish they had that electronic floor map by the entrances, escalators and stairs that they took out during the pandemic. It doesn't have to be an interactive touch screen, but a map of each floor will help. The place offers everything you could ever want and more (so far). I enjoy the scooters which you can rent so you can joyride around the mall. They a have an ice skating rink, a food court and dozens of restaurants, hundreds of retail stores and movie theaters that include the Director's Club Cinema. The roof garden offers a spectacular view of the new CCLEX bridge. I like to go to this mall just to walk around, since there are no hiking/jogging/biking trails near me. You can spend a day here and not get bored.

SM Seaside City is the biggest in the Philippines and apparently the sixth biggest in the world. As the name suggests, the mall is located seaside. The have an open air playground with a Philippine basket weaving theme. There are a lot of kids enjoying this playground, but not so much that it's stifling. On this floor, they also have a water play area for kids and empty storefronts that would be great for a coffee shop or souvenir items. You can catch a view of the seaside or the city, you can sit in peace catching a breeze in an open area rooftop park. You can go bowling, watch a movie, go to the playground, try different cuisines, buy a car, sip your coffee. At this point, I have not talked about the shopping, I get it. Well, the mall is great!!! There's a carousel inside, there's several restaurants and shops. SM itself has a VIP lounge where people can just sit in comfortable couches or tables, be served drinks and go on wifi, maybe read some newspapers. In this area, you can't take pics. SM mall has great women's wear line for a very good price. Because it's so big, it does not seem crowded at all. It seems quite tranquil. You can rent scooters, if you think the mall is too big and you want to get around a little faster. Malls in the Philippines are way more than malls. They really are a source of enjoyment and even tranquility, rather than stress and shopping. I enjoy visiting the SM malls and Ayala malls in the Philippines.

I believe there are a total of 5 levels in this mall.

Our time at SM Seaside was too short. Got a glimpse of how incredible this shopping mall is. We arrived about an hour before closing time to have dinner at one of the restaurants. That is why time was so limited. SM Seaside is GIGANTIC! Great place to burn some calories (by walking) or gain some calories (by eating). It is like a little city inside this mall. I heard that it is one of the Top 10 largest malls in the entire world!! I look forward to spending more time here in the future. Cebu, Philippines gets very hot so SM Seaside is a fantastic place to escape the heat because they also have terrific air conditioning!! Believe me when I tell you that it is a huge bonus to have A/C in the Philippines!!

Wow! This place is big! Almost too big. The top level has a great outside walk around with shops and cafes. Inside... everything! You can go bowling, see a movie, buy a car, eat cuisine from anywhere in the world, Ride elevators, escalators and walk upstairs. There are shops from North face to Prada, coach to SM market. Pretty much a one shot destination if you want to escape the heat and shop all day long and stay in the building. This place is it very clean and safe retreat if you've just had enough Cebu city.

This has to be one of the biggest malls I've ever been in. There are 5 floors plus an additional outdoor mall area over looking the city. The mall is brand new so there are still a lot of vacancies. You'll find just about everything here. They have American franchise stores as well as Filipino and other international stores? Once entering by car. Your car is bomb sweeped and checked. Finally upon entering the mall doors armed security guards check you and you walk through a metal detector. They take security in the Philippines very serious here which is a good thing. Try Paulito's resto it's very good.

Let's get one thing straight. The Philippines knows shopping malls. And although I hate to admit it Filipinos know shopping as well. Don't believe me? Go ask your nearest Filipino which mall to visit and they'll gladly give you a list...not just one place but a list. Anyways it's no surprise that the malls in the Philippines are some of the largest and grandest malls I have ever been to. And trust me when I say this, I have visited a crap load in my time so I know what I'm talking about. One of these grand oasis of shopping nirvana is SM Seaside Cebu. There's just something about this megamall that just screams excess. And I mean for goodness sake it's the third largest shopping mall in the Philippines and 8th in the world. That's 8th in THE WORLD people! Let's put that into perspective shall we. Number three and four on that list are SM City North EDSA and SM Megamall which both are in the Philippines and the entry from the United States are relegated to the 28th and 29th spot. Those spots are filled by King of Prussia Mall and Mall of America respectively. How is it that a country so small as the Philippines has three of the largest mall in the world in the top ten list? That speaks volume. So trust me when I say this, you haven't visited a mall and truly know what that definition is until you visit SM. To say I was impressed is an understatement. First of all, the location is simply sublime. The reason it's called SM Seaside Cebu is...well you guessed it...it's right by the seaside. They couldn't have picked a more perfect location. That's because the view of the ocean from the rooftop garden in the morning and the evening is to die for. Just strolling through the lush greenery and feeling the ocean breeze that's so fresh and refreshing is what life is all about. If I was living in Cebu there is no doubt you would see me at this mall every day. There's just so many things to do. So many things to see. And so many restaurants to try that it would be difficult to get bored of it. There's a bowling and amusement center, Olympic-size skating rink and numerous stores that can literally drain the money from your bank account. Also there is the famous "Cube" centerpiece, the Sky Park garden which I have mentioned, and a huge tower that rises from the middle that will provide an amazing view of the complex and nearby city below. There's something to be said about not going home to my country for close to two decades. I would have never imagined that such a mall could exist in the Philippines. My visit has proved to be full of surprises and wonder. It's truly no wonder then that I wouldn't hesitate visiting the motherland once again even if it's just to visit the amazing malls like SM Seaside Cebu.
