I was sooooooo happy that amongst all the random things that were closed in Oslo while it was a (1)…read moreweekend (2) a sunday (3) new years (4) xmas that Kulturehuset remained open. I'm always a sucker for good coffee and this is one of the few places in Europe that delivered. This place is cute, quaint, cozy and serves beer too. You can find the coffee shop in the front and the beer bar in the back. They have free wifi and amazing banana nut muffins. I know that's so weird, I'm not even usually a muffins person but this was one delightful muffin. Great place to relax, and unwind after a day of sightseeing!

Small but lovely museum that featured two exhibitions when we visited. The inside got a modern,…read moreindustrial, lofty feel to it. It might possibly be an old, refurbished industrial complex or warehouse. Spent about 90 minutes in this place, and saw everything. Admission was free so that's a big bonus, especially on a rainy day :-). The staff is very friendly and you'll also find an attached store and modern vegan restaurant inside (which we're going to check out tonight). We left the place inspired by this well presented exhibition.

I ordered a wheat beer and I think that sums it up: At Litteraturhuset you have all sorts of clientel! The place itself is rather spacious and the basement part served as a venue this evening for an event on band lyrics . Yes, there are often events related to litterature and other intellectual topics and you should follow their Facebook page to get updates. Litteraturhuset lies at the bottom of Majorstuen and next to the Royal garden - a nice location in summer, but rather grey and hidden away in the dark evenings of winter. Still, the place was full and is obviously pop. If on a roll, go by Lorry while at it- it's just around the corner!

We needed a quick bite to eat and we were thinking bar, snacks, and small plates. The restaurant had a really nice modern and slightly upscale vibe . It was nice and cozy. The service was really good too with the waitress explaining the menu to us since it was a new tasting menu they were trying . I got a local beer and we tried the miso, glazed eggplant with non-bread and the lobster roll . Both items were extremely delicious and surprisingly filling for being small plates style . From what I've read, they have live entertainment and music upstairs on certain nights, but we came on a quiet evening. If you're looking for late night bar snacks and a nice chill atmosphere this is definitely a place to go !
