Yesterday was horrible. It was traumatic to say the least. I don't think I have ever experienced…read moresuch a level of unaccountability, unprofessionalism, and lack of integrity, as I did at BarberKing Cuts Barbershop 7331 Stonecrest Concourse, Lithonia, GA 30038. The experience took me to a dark place, where I contemplated evil. I should have listened to my instincts and gone ahead to the barber I normally frequent, but I was in the area. The owner (I don't know his name), who works the first chair to the right when you come in the shop, jacked my head up so bad. He's a brown-skinned, slim man, probably wearing a baseball cap. Yall listen. I've been growing my locs for 8 yrs. My locs come down to the center of my back, but yesterday, I pulled them up in a bun on top to allow a barber access to fade the back, sides, and the little area on the forehead. My hair happens to be soft, so when it's time to get my locs done, it's extra frizzy. However, my hair had been faded 3 weeks ago, so in essence, there was already a template for a barber to follow. Any barber worth his talent and experience knows you don't cut the frizz, but I really expected an OWNER of a barbershop to know better. Hell, a barber in training at the academy knows not to cut the frizz, especially if the client TELLS YOU, "Just cut the back low, fade it, the sides, and low in the front," which I told this dude. He proceeds to cut my hair, and I feel him cutting some frizz in the back. I should have known something was wrong when he said, "It looks like it's time to get your hair RE-BRAIDED." In my head I'm saying, "Sir...they are locs, NOT BRAIDS." So, I tell him, "Yeah, it's time to get re-twisted. I'm on my way to get it done. Don't cut the frizz." He finishes with my hair, all the while, still cutting frizz. I look at the cut, and I sort of breathed of sigh of relief because it looked good. He charges me $20 (Who does that?!!! You didn't cut a full head of hair!). I get to my car and look at my cut some more. I see a loc in the back sort of holding on by 1 strand of hair. I feel for it, and 4 LOCS CAME DETACHED FROM MY SCALP IN THAT ONE SPOT! I go back to the shop and the owner wasn't there. The other barber told me his number was on the door. I call him, and he is only willing to give me back only half my money! He comes back and gives me $10, but I'm still mad, so I go back to the shop. I ask the dude for my other $10 because my locs were attached to my scalp before I sat in the chair. He KEPT denying that he'd cut into my locs. I did not know the extent of the damage until I got to my loctician. This untalented, no cutting, don't know a loc from a braid SUCKA, damaged/weakened nearly the whole row of locs right above the faded portions of hair on the sides and back of my head. My loctician ended up having to cut several more locs because they were hanging on by 1 or 2 strands. He also cut some frizz in the front, which ended up cutting a chunk out of lock in the front, making the front portion look like a plug taken out behind the section that's cut low. Man...I'm so pissed. I asked the brutha. "Man, are you so hard up for that other $10? You have at least 5 other customers now sitting here to make that money back." He asked me to move, so he could cut his next customer. I left, because I'm too mature to fight about cut hair, but I can write this review. In the pics of the locs by themselves, the four on the left were the ones that he cut. The others were the ones my loctician cut. I wish there was a way to give negative stars on Yelp because he deserves 100 of them! Tired ass...
