When a doctor prescribes an APAP, my assumption is the individual will use it nightly going…read moreforward. But for whatever reason I have not yet received my mask replacements. Contacted them and they said my doctor hadn't specifically stated that I need ongoing supplies. That they have to contact the office for another order. Are they kidding? If that IS true, why wasn't that done when they received the order a few months ago to prevent delayed delivery of supplies? Now they say that after the order is received it will take 3 days to process and a week to ship supplies. They're more concerned about checking insurance boxes than they're concerned about patient needs and customer satisfaction. Further in calling the main number, I made an appointment to replace my BiPAP because moisture was coming out of the SD card drive. They said they couldn't get me in immediately, but that their office in South County had an Air Curve 11 on-site and they could assess for repairs or replace as needed. They made the appointment for me. When I arrived in South County, the person evaluated my Aircurve 11, determined that water was indeed coming out of the SD card slot, but told me she had no Air Curve 11s on site. So she sent a message to the Kearney Mesa office inquiring whether They had extras on-site. They said they did. She asked if we could come and pick one up because I needed one immediately since I am using it as ASV while awake, too until they finalize the order for my ventilator on the back of my wheelchair. The people at Kearney Mesa said to come on up and that they'd have it waiting at the desk. We arrived. The front desk person was aware that we were coming, but didn't have it at the desk. There was only one other person who was in the waiting room. We waited more than an hour for that AirCurve 11! They must've not updated the information in the system from back when I was using a CPAP either because they sent me the wrong nasal mask as a refill. I paid for expedited shipping shipping and they said they would overnight it that day, and they sent a different mask, but it wasn't the correct one. I called them to exchange it and they wanted me to pay again for expedited shipping. I told them I paid expedited shipping the first time and they sent me the wrong one. I asked if they could apply the money I previously paid for expedited shipping and they confirmed they could. I received a message via text saying overnight shipping was approved. I received it 10 days later. Then they didn't contact me 30 days later for refills of the nasal portion of the mask. So I called them. They refused to use the payment that I spent the prior month to expedite the shipping. I got that shipment 14 days later. It didn't include the filters. So I had to call them back and order the filters and anything else I was qualified to receive. They said that they could apply the $18 overnight to my refill order. I said that would be great since the last two times I didn't get the right order or the expedited shipping. I didn't get my order the following day. Or the day after that. I called them to see what was going on and they said they would be "happy to see if I qualified for refills." I received the refills 14 days after the call. I live on an extremely limited disability income. That $18 should have been spent on groceries. I used it for expedited shipping because I am allergic to the wrong mask they sent. They owe me $18 for expedited shipping plus interest and gas for driving all over creation to chace down a replacement AirCurve, plus time for my caregiver/driver and my time. (My most recent consulting and university guest lecture fee was $200/hour.) They need to fix the communications within their office, between offices, and between scheduling, supplies, and shipping. The stress involved in getting this sorted monthly does little to give patients a Better Night.

Since I am on Medi-Cal, my PCP referrals are to mental health providers that rely heavily on prescribing mood stabilizers and other serotonin inhibitive drugs. But when I spoke to the receptionist, I was simply told flat out that they didn't accept my insurance, and to go to UCSD (scary!), and given NO other referrals or suggestions as to where else to look for a healthy alternative. The receptionist seemed very stressed and desperate to get off the phone. I'm disappointed, and let down, but mostly, just very very tired. I hope others haven't had this experience.

I yearn for Saturday's because that's when I can catch up on sleep. But it seems the longer I sleep, the worse i feel. What gives?? I increased the cups of coffee and caffeine pills, but it never seems to help at all. I felt drowsier after each cup or dose. I tried going to bed earlier, but I would wake up so drowsy and fatigued that I would call in sick. Then it progressively got worse. I started to doze off in traffic after work and even after I leave the house at 7am! At around 1pm, I pass out at my desk snoring loud. Coworkers were making fun of me, so I had to pass out in my car on my lunch breaks just to be able to focus and stay awake until 5pm and for the drive home. I commute on average of an hour to an hour and a half each way. My girlfriend was starting to be concerned because she would notice me gasping for air at night, she would shake me to wake up. My dreams were becoming very lucid and been experiencing quite a few of OOBE's that freaked me out. Then one night I was sitting at my dinner table with my girlfriend and then a pain struck on my chest. It feels like I got punched! I immediately grabbed my chest and bolted forward. My girlfriend immediately saw this and rushed to my aid. She gave me some aspirin to swallow and told me to sit down on the couch. I started to sweat and feel weak. Then I thought that this was it. I told my girlfriend that I love her and made my peace with my creator and was ready to go. She then called 911. Within minutes, the firefighters and ambulances rushed into my house. They rolled the stretcher in and immediately started measuring my vitals and performed an EKG. Blood pressure was very high and EKG was normal. Lead firefighter asked a few questions to where the pain was coming from and asked if I feel it coming from around my upper back. I just told him that it feels like I took a blow to the chest. They strapped me into the stretcher and took me to the nearest ER, because matters with the heart, they take it very serious. They advised me that it's best for me to be checked out by an ER doctor just to be sure I'm not having a heart attack since they can run blood tests, x-rays, etc. After waiting in triage, all tests performed came back normal. Blood tests showed no signs of heart damage. EKG came back normal as well. But my blood pressure came back down to normal. I took some days off from work just to rest and recuperate, trying to piece things together. I'm 5'10.5", 216 lbs, pretty active and fit, and eat very clean. Infact, when this all happened, I was eating a bowl of brown rice and tuna lol. I even asked the first responders if I can take my meal with me because I'm not letting that go to waste! I grew desperate and searched for solutions and that's when I found her on Yelp. I work near the Del Mar-Sorrento Valley area and she happens to be within minutes from my office. I immediately called and scheduled a consultation, showed my Insurance info (PPO), and the rest was history. During my appointment with Dr. Rohatgi, I explained to her that I was in the ER. She had me do a sleep study to measure baseline. Well, my AHI was at 44 which to my knowledge is severe. No wonder why I always felt so sleepy and fatigued! I was holding my breath 44 times a night!!! No wonder my dreams became lucid and experienced some OOBE's, My oxygen levels in my blood was dropping so fast to a dangerously low point that my heart would beat twice as hard and fast just to keep me alive. I was literally dying in my sleep by holding my breath lol! I grew motivated to end this suffering and reclaim the energy that I once had. I coughed out the funds for the dental appliance and they took my dental impressions, x-rays, etc. I was determined to sleep deep and better again, to get my life back from Apnea! I waited a week or so for the appliance to arrive. In the meantime, I purchased another dental appliance from the internet which by the way, did not work! It was very uncomfortable and my saliva was uncontrollable. Fast forward to today. At level 0, I'm already seeing a huge improvement. I'm feeling more awake and energetic when I wake up. We did more sleep studies as we ramped the level from 0 to 5 to 10. At ten, my AHI came back at 2.5. How's that for progress? Awesome!! Now I'm sleeping better and waking up feeling restful. I no longer doze off in traffic nor at my desk at work. Literally, I have my life back!!! I am grateful for Dr. Rohatgi and her staff at SD Sleep Therapy. We have another sleep study in December and will be testing at level 12 to see if they can bring the AHI down to 0! If you're feeling tired everyday and feel as though you don't have enough sleep, give her a call. Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea is a Silent Killer. Ignore the troll reviews and regain your life!

I wanted to find an alternative to cry it out method and Jen was the perfect solution. While there were a few tough nights Jen was by our side through and through. What I noticed was Jen didn't treat this like a gig or just going through the motion. She was genuinely invested and that's why I would recommend her to anyone who wants to find an alternative sleep training that moves at the pace of your child. If I went back in time, I would hire her again in a heartbeat. By graduation, my baby was able to sleep in the crib through the night! P.S. Jen we love you! Thank you again for everything!! I don't even know where to begin! I had reached out to Jen after having had worked with a sleep…read morecoach for 2 months to no avail. The previous sleep coach had a very strange method, which involved only my husband doing bedtime since she thought it would be easier for both baby and mom? My baby went from co-sleeping to solely contact napping to sleeping in the crib, and handling overnight wakes pretty well (with the previous coach) but bedtime itself was a nightmare. My baby would pretty much cry herself to sleep every night, and the spike in cortisol caused 5am wakes EVERY morning, and we were stuck in that cycle for months. Days before I had reached out to Jen, my husband had informed me that he had to go on a work assignment to a different state, and would be gone within days. I was extremely anxious since sleep training was in process, and unresolved, and well because I had never once done it myself. Jen quickly got back to me over text, and scheduled our first intro call. As soon as she heard the anxiety in my voice, she moved mountains to find me a slot in her very busy calendar, and was flexible enough to change a few things around and get me going with her training from one day to the next (a process which takes a few days to go through the intro, the material, etc). She met me exactly where I was at, and promised to help support me. Jen is an extremely warm and empathic person, her care for me within minutes of talking to me came through on the phone. She knew I had no village, and soon would be solo parenting, and she became just that for me, a partner and a village in a matter of hours. I know I was not an easy client, I was anxiety ridden, and very traumatized and conditioned by the old coach who had a very strange and cold way of viewing babies and sleep. Jen carefully deconstructed a lot of that old way of thinking, and was genuinely available every time I would text her, even if it was just to encourage me or remind me to breathe. My baby went from crying HYSTERICALLY at every bed time, to looking forward to going in the crib within a matter of days. Jen was OK to go from a very rigid and cold method, to something that was FAR BETTER suited for my baby's temperament. Even without knowing my child, she was able to gather what her temperament was with just a few questions about her. I was very surprised. On MANY ocassions Jen's empathy towards me brought me to tears. I was finally understood, heard, and held! I was no longer scared of bedtime. Jen's tailored method worked, but she is also very data driven which is extremely important for me. She has a specific way of gathering how much sleep each individual child needs, and is able to identify the child's "sweet spot" as she calls it, to try to optimize sleep training and sleep overall. As she reminds me often, babies are not robots, not every night will be perfect, but Jen gave me the stamina to be OK with this and to roll with the punches! Sleep is better overall, but so is my mindset, and that is ALL thanks to Jen. I was thrilled that she graduated my baby and me quite quickly, but at the same time a little sad, because I felt like I was saying goodbye to a very dear friend. Look no further for sleep training, trust me on this one.

I was referred to AKANE Institute of Allergy Asthma & Sleep Medicine and Dr. Anoop Karippot for sleep evaluation. My initial appointment was scheduled for November 17, 2025. I arrived on time but was informed that the doctor was not in the office and would arrive over an hour late. Given my age, distance (about 20 miles), and reliance on insurance-arranged transportation, this was already difficult. During the visit, Dr. Karippot ordered overnight and daytime sleep studies and clearly stated that the testing equipment would be mailed to my home. A follow-up appointment was scheduled accordingly. Unfortunately, over the next several weeks, the clinic repeatedly failed to deliver the equipment as promised. The clinic gave conflicting instructions, at one point asking me to come pick it up myself, which was not feasible for me. Appointments were rescheduled multiple times based on assurances that the device would be mailed "soon." When the device finally arrived in late January, it came without any instructions, contact information, or guidance. The device requires software installation and physician pairing, which cannot reasonably be completed without professional assistance. Despite multiple requests, I was unable to speak with the doctor or receive any written instructions. No phone call or email was ever provided. As a result, the prescribed testing could not be completed, and my care was effectively abandoned after it had already begun. This review is not written out of anger, but out of concern. In my experience, the clinic demonstrated poor scheduling practices, inconsistent communication, and a lack of appropriate support--issues that are especially problematic for elderly patients. I hope this information is helpful to others considering care at this facility.
