Who knew I'd find my favorite hotel in Curitiba?…read more LOCATION Batel is the neighborhood you want to be in and Nomaa is in the heart of it. The clean tree-lined streets play host to a variety of local restaurants and bars. During the day it's a great area to walk around in, at night, it's safe and bustling with life. Within a 10 minute walk, there's Patio Shopping, the fanciest of malls (with Louis Vuitton, Farm, and others). My favorite feature? The VIP cinema that has waiter service -and- reclining chairs that adjoin (for romantic couples). ROOM My room had 2 shower heads in the same shower. The bathroom was beautifully tiled in large polished marble and might as well have been big enough to function as a studio apartment. Ok, maybe not, but it was a large bathroom and ideal for couples. Bed: King size and super comfortable. Nightside table: iPad included. Loved this. From the handy device, you could easily check email, browse the internet, or even order room service or chose from their amenities menu. DECOR Anyone who loves good design will drool over Nomaa. Eames chairs and other staples will delight the architecture and designed focused crowd. RESTAURANT and BAR Home to Nomade, the in-hotel restaurant and bar, I was a huge fan of the focus on gastronomy. The selection is modern European and ingredients are super fresh and tasty. Whether you order from the room service menu or dine at the restaurant, you're sure to be pleased. The cocktail menu is similarly exciting and well executed. Classics are there as are in-house creations. There's also a spa and gym that I didn't have time to check out, but based on my overall impression of the hotel, I'm sure those two services are top notch.

This is the best hotel in Curitiba. Before I came, I booked a regular room (Rate was R$400/night)…read more When I arrived, they had run out of regular rooms so they ended up upgrading me to the presidential suite. That's right. I got to stay in the Presidential Suite for 3 nights while paying the original rate. How awesome is that???? I can't say how the other rooms are but the PRESIDENTIAL SUITE was unbelievable. This was the first time that I have ever been in a PRESIDENTIAL SUITE so of course I was in awe. I had a dining room, a living room, an office, a master bedroom, a huge bathroom with a Jacuzzi and a shower as well as his and her sinks (toilet in that room) which connected to the showers. In the living room, there was another bathroom too. The dining room was fully decorated with a really nice chandelier and the living room had 3 couches and a tv. The soaps and shampoos in the rooms were fantastic and smelled really good. They use L'Occitane for the shampoo and new bottles were given each day. The staff was extremely friendly and they all spoke english. There is a big breakfast buffet in the morning and they do make pancakes with authentic Canadian maple syrup. There is also a gym and a swimming pool but I wasn't able to go how it looked like. The hotel is located right downtown and there are plenty of restaurants close by. If you need a taxi, just ask the front desk and they will call you one. This is where team Spain will be staying for the world cup.

And I have twice enjoyed their incompetence, why any hotel would hire them defies logic. There are a few English speakers on staff which has made our trip much easier for arranging taxis and trips around town. There's a nice outdoor area you can work or eat in if you need fresh air. The beds are spring mattresses, which aren't as comfortable as foam, but they aren't terrible either. The walls seem to be insulated enough not to hear every detail from your neighbor, unlike some other hotels we've been told about in the area. The showers are quite hot with decent water pressure, which makes a morning much better. Room amenities include hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, cotton-swabs, shower cap, American outlets, refrigerator stocked with juices, beer, and sodas, as well as peanuts, chips, and snack bars. Room service is also available doing certain times of the day and the food was quite fresh. There are cheaper options for lunch in the area, but if you need to power through getting some work done in your room, it's very convenient to order room service either online or at the hotel desk. Laundry service can be provided with a 24hr turn-around and is charged by the piece between R$5 - R$40 per piece. There is a laundromat down the street for R$44 an entire load with wash & fold service as well. All in all, we seemed to have a much better experience than the other conference attendees staying at other hotels nearby, so I'd definitely recommend the Slaviero Slim on your visit to Curitiba.
