Now I usually don't enjoy Macaroni salad or Potato salad that much but all, and I mean all of the sides that I got with my meal including those two and the coleslaw and fries, were absolutely amazing. BF and I came in and were seated right away. We ordered the brisket sliced platter and a half rack of ribs. The ribs are so good! Super soft and flavorful, definitely worth a try. The brisket was a little dry but paired well with their homemade sweet or spicy BBQ sauce. The brisket was also tender and had a smoky taste to it. The sides we got were the macaroni salad, fries, and cornbread all of which were good. The fries were crispy and the macaroni salad was my favorite since it was seasoned with a few spices giving it an extra kick. We had two servers since one had to leave early. Our first server was super nice, our second one was okay. Prices were affordable, our bill came up to $30 something. read more

Located in a strip mall, this place was highly recommended by the locals. I think the locals need to get out more, sorry... just sayin. The hush puppies app were way overdone giving them a burnt flavor. This place takes "no frills" to a new level. You order at the counter, no menu, everything is on a chalkboard. While my brother and I were visiting our dad in Corning last week we decided to stop by here for dinner. The last time we were in town we could smell their barbeque from across the river on Market St and it smelled fantastic. I'd been looking forward to coming here since then. I'm a big BBQ fan and I had pretty high expectations for Slammin Jammin based on the smell and the Yelp reviews. The three of us were a little underwhelmed with the restaurant itself. It felt a little grimy, the tables were all sticky, but dirty restaurants can still be delicious (some of my favorite eateries are dives). All three of us ended up getting pulled pork sandwiches, we split a large side of baked beans and a large thing of fries. The pork itself was really good. It wasn't too shredded or soggy which some BBQ places make the mistake of, and the fries were great (hand cut potatoes deep fried). The beans were essentially straight from a can and I wouldn't get them again (we threw half of them away). We were all really disappointed with the BBQ sauce selection, in that there was no selection. They had a single type of sauce which was very sweet. Usually when you go to a place like this they have at least three offerings (sweet, spicy, vinegar). None of us were thrilled with what they had to offer. For me the sauce and the meat are the only things that matter at a restaurant like this and they failed to deliver on half of that. Overall it was an alright experience. Next time we visit we won't be back. If I lived in the area I could definitely see myself getting takeout meat from here and providing my own BBQ sauce (take out seemed to be a pretty popular option from what I observed while we were sitting there eating). read more

Already a good sign and we didn't even step foot inside yet. Best advertising ever? We ordered pulled pork and chopped brisket sandwiches. Both easily topped any BBQ I've ever had. The meat was moist, the bun was soft, and the housemade BBQ sauce was perfect. The fries (think Five Guys style) and the baked beans were CRAZY delicious. Had a great dinner here last week. My wife, son (6 months) and I came in around 6pm. We grabbed a table and I placed the order at the counter. Food was served very quickly, fresh out of the smoker. My wife ordered the brisket dinner and I ordered the rib dinner. The meats were smoked perfectly. Lots of flavor, great moisture level and the sides were a great accompaniment. We each enjoyed the baked beans and mac salad which held their own. Really enjoyed the two homemade bbq sauces (sweet and spicy). Glad to see a new bbq restaurant in Corning. Super bad experience... got here with a group of 6 and the waiter tried to move us from the first level to the second seeing that we had two handicap persons. Slammin is right! We came from San Diego to get married in Watkins Glen and Ben and his crew catered our wedding. They did an amazing job and the bbq was absolutely the best!! Order at the counter and mosey to your table. It will be worth the wait. We had sliced brisket sandwiches topped with the house sauce. Tasty! Moist and meaty. What more can you ask for? The pulled pork sandwich had great smokey flavor; wasn't just borrowing its flavor from the sauce. The buns were light and nicely toasted. The ribs weren't quite falling off the bone but also had a nice aroma. For sides, there were no collard greens but they sure can make a tasty baked bean side! Great food but service for a Tuesday evening was disappointing. It took over 20 minutes to get a beer after I ordered one, 10-15 morning mutes linger to take my order then it took another 25 min to get my food. 3-4 servers during an evening that was not that busy I was surprised that service was that poor. Based on looking at yelp we went to this restaurant for supper on Sunday night. My son and I ordered two iced teas, half a chicken, 1 lb of brisket and an order of potato salad. The restaurant had one or two tables occupied upstairs and a few walk ins for the bar after we sat down. Now the review part: I state it as it is and have no ill will in this, the order took 40 minutes to get in a place that was dead. The tea was stale at best. The brisket and chicken both was tough and did not have a hint of smoke in it. The also put bbq sauce on it which is a no no in my opinion, you let people put their own on! We took most home to feed my dogs which I have NEVER done before. The chopped brisket reminded me of shredded beef jerky in consistency or a dried out pot roast, just bad. The chicken half was also tough, dried out, and small. The potato salad was good, and waitress was friendly. I was told this was authentic Tx bbq, not a chance, I lived in Tx and has had many times before. Given my overall experience I feel jipped, especially given this cost more than Tx bbq I had in October. I cannot endorse this place given my experience no matter what all the locals there say. read more

I live in Atlanta so I was skeptical about BBQ this far up north but I was wrong! We all had brisket (both sliced and chopped) and I added pulled pork. Outstanding! Perfectly smoked and juicy! I had the fresh cut fries and the other tow had baked beans. Owner chatted with us and first brought out sames of his Brunswick Stew and then his ribs (wet, not dry). Both were homeruns! The meat is succulent and seasoned just slightly to allow the wonderful smoked flavor to be appreciated, without masking it with tons of sauce. The waitress was very Costner focused and extremely knowledgeable about the food and options for meals. We ordered the 1/4 lb platter. We had ribs, brisket, pulled pork, sausage and chicken. Our sides were corn muffin, fresh cut French fries and coke slaw. The meat was extremely moist and chock full of flavor! We ate every morsel of meat except the chicken. We were too full to eat it! The menu said the corn muffin was sweet, though I didn't think so. It was delicious and I wanted more!! The coke slaw was delicious and a bit too sweet for me. The fresh cut fries were cooked perfectly and not greasy. They had sauces on the table, though we didn't use them because sauce was already on the meat when served. The sauce was a bit sweet and therefore sticky. I normally will ask them to hold the sauce as I prefer it sans sauce. I forgot to this time. However, it was still great BBQ for this area. We went to Slammin' Jammin' for dinner last night. Arrived at about 8:45p (they close at 10p). Sat at the bar and had good service for awhile. The bartender made an excellent Long Island for my wife, which is a challenge as she likes it a certain way. Beer selection was pretty limited, but OK. We both ordered ribs, with sides of fries; I had cole slaw and my wife had a tossed salad. The cole slaw was some of the best ever I've had - 5 stars on that. Fries were very good also - 4 stars there. The ribs were excellent. Meaty, nicely smoked, etc. I ordered the full rack so I had leftovers, and they were just as good the next day. So, why only 3 stars rating? The bartender got off around 9:15p, and the bartender / server that was closing spent a good 15 - 20 minutes on the phone with a friend complaining about work. Now I don't expect white glove ambiance at a barbecue place, but it really ruined the experience for us. If you are going to complain about work, do it in the back room, not in front of customers. read more

Here for lunch before we visited the Corning glass museum. There is only one lady serving so we have to awkwardly stand there waiting for her to finishing filling the drinks for other guests. It would be better if she asked us to grab a seat first... We decided to order by pound so we don't have to struggle with ordering too many sides. The food is pretty good though, we love it and finish everything. The brisket is tender and every piece has a nice soft tendon linked to it, the sauce is not overpowering and is just right. The pulled pork tastes ok, but I would say it looks more like chopped pork than pulled pork... The chicken is very tender in the inside and crispy on the outside, I think it is one of the best bbq chicken we had. For the sides, we got French fries and veggie of the day. Both of them are very good. The grilled veggie is much better than I thought I could have at a bbq, you know, meat place. Price is very reasonable. We paid only about 10 dollar per person. We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The first thing you notice is the fantastic smell from the kitchen, which is right up front. The waitress was friendly and helpful. Since we had never been there before, we asked her what she recommended. She suggested their 1/4 lb sampler. She assured us it wasn't too much for two people. On that count, she wasn't entirely right. It is a lot of food. 1/4 lb of pulled pork, 1/4 lb of brisket, 1/4 smoked chicken, 4 ribs, and smoked sausage, along with sides and cornbread. It was a great way to try a bit of everything, but it was really too much for two people. The pulled pork and brisket both come chopped. The flavor was good but they were both just a little dry. Their house sauces on the table helped with that. I think we'd probably prefer the brisket sliced, which is an option if you order ala cart. The chicken was a thigh and drumstick, both had nice flavor. The smoked sausage was delicious. Our favorite was the ribs. They were fall off the bone tender, and were delicious. Our sides were fries and cole slaw. They were both fine. There are only a few tables on the first floor, so unless you get there when it's not busy, you'll have to climb some stairs. The atmosphere is typical BBQ joint decor with lots of old signs and music type stuff on the walls. Everything was clean. Bottom line, it's a decent place for BBQ. We'd go again. read more

Stopped here while on a road trip to Niagara Falls and I'm so happy I did! By far some of the best BBQ I've ever had. We got a sampler, which is all their meats, and a few sides. The standouts were the garlic bread, fries, and the chicken breast. If you get one thing here it needs to be the chicken. It's so juicy and tender, bursting with flavor. The BBQ sauce they use, I'm assuming it's made in-house is so smoky it takes you straight to a summer BBQ at a campfire. The staff was very attentive and friendly.
