Sliced Brisket Plate

Nice little place on Market St in Corning. Service was friendly all the servers were helpful and so nice...but maybe a little overworked? It seemed like most of them were running up and down the stairs (there are two floors) and so, at times a little salute to get to the table. The food was good...but we've been spoiled by our own local bbq place! Meats could have been smoked a little longer. Cole slaw was delicious!! The fries are good...I suspect made from fresh potatoes but were very dark. Probably from the starch?? Anyway, really ok place to go but they do have the potential to be much better.

Dozen smoked chicken wings, medium Buffalo sauce

We stopped by here after a visit to the museum and were happily surprised not only by the prices and portions, but also the quality of food. The decorations of the restaurant totally fit the vibe of the food and everything we ordered we would get again. Definitely some great authentic Texas style BBQ. The meats that were smoked were perfectly flavored without overwhelming the flavor of the sauce, from what we could taste there was no artificial smoke. Service was great and can't complain about the close parking! Must try! We tried the following: -dozen smoked wings with medium Buffalo sauce. These were perfectly crispy without being dry, the smoky flavor was great but not overwhelming. Some of the best wings I've had! Pairs well with the ranch and blue cheese -3 item combo plate. Definitely a lot of food but good to share and try a bit of everything. Sausage had a good crisp bite to it and well seasoned, the ribs nice and tender with a good crust to them, and the brisket (sliced) was beautifully tender. Fries, garlic Texas toast, and side salad also very tasty. -Plain burger with fries and side salad very tasty as well (not pictured) and fluffy bun -Pulled pork sandwich with fries also very tasty and juicy. The bun it came on was really fluffy too (not pictured

Lunch plate: chopped brisket and potato salad

I came here for lunch on a Thursday. I got a lunch plate to go. The lunch plate came with my choice of protein (chopped brisket) on top of a sad wilted lettuce, a side of choice (potato salad) and a soft drink of choice. The brisket itself was good. Great flavor with a nice mixture of fat and burnt ends topped with some well seasoned barbecue sauce. The portion was fairly small though especially for the hefty cost of 15 dollars (including tax). The potato salad had a great flavor and was nicely portioned. Though flavor was nice the cost with the small amount of food you get just unfortunately did not feel worth it.

I'm going to go with two stars because the waitress was awesome, she was very polite attentive & understanding. Upon entering I noticed there weren't any customers in the restaurant, despite there being no parking spaces available on the street out front. (There's metered parking behind the restaurant, free on the weekends) I thought the restaurant was going to be packed, but not. The menu did not display prices for the items, you had to use your scanner to bring up a separate menu for prices, on that menu it shows there are two prices for each dish, a cash price and an increased card price, I'm not sure if each individual dish has the up charge or is it just a one time up charge on your entire tab. I did end up leaving the restaurant without finishing my meal because the smoked wings I ordered had what I believed to be a spoiled odor once I've bitten into it, they also was too pink on the inside for my liking, which I was told that's how they look once they are smoked, the french fries were soaked in oil (as you can see in the picture), I apologized to the waitress & left a few $$ for the trouble but I just could not continue with the undesirable meal. Instead, I went down the street to another barbecue joint (see review)

We started with an order of hushpuppies to share and ended up deciding to share a Two-Meat Combo platter for our lunch. We chose the the chicken and chopped brisket as our proteins. Sliced Brisket, pulled pork, sausage, and ribs were also options. For sides, we went with coleslaw and baked beans. Other options included potato salad, mac salad, tossed salad, fresh cut fries, or veggie of the day. Finally, there was a choice of bread. We went with the Garlic Texas Toast but also ordered two corn muffins on the side. Looking back at their website, I see that there was also a choice of a few different BBQ sauces which we didn't notice at the time. I would assume that the default sauce we received on our meal and was available on the table was the Sweet BBQ. If you prefer more heat than sweet, it appears that was an option. The meat was tender and the sides were really at the top of their class. Both my partner and I are picky coleslaw and we both were pleased with the cut on the cabbage, the amount of dressing, and crunch factor. But the beans were wow! I think this is one of the really fun things with food. When you're sure you've tasted the best and then someone/someplace comes along and tops that! There was pork in these, but that's common. I couldn't figure out what else made these so special both in flavor and viscosity. Maybe molasses? If anyone has a great recipe for homemade baked beans, please share in the comments. I'm going to be trying to figure this one out! Obviously, we would definitely eat here again.

Converted food to go after running out of time

We were really excited to find a standalone barbecue restaurant on the main strip in town, while visiting for a wedding. Walked up and down the strip to consider all places available and chose this establishment. Unfortunately, after waiting an hour, we had not yet received our food. Was told 3X "your food will be right up" for at least 10-15 minutes. Only got to try the meal after a 30 minute ride back to the airport to drop off the rental car; half cold and soggy - super upsetting after all the waiting. For BBQ, I generally expect cool times under 45 mins. It was a pretty normal Sunday afternoon; not overflowing or that busy. Next time, a warning about 45+ wait times after ordering would be a nice courtesy. Rating 2/5* because the cold food wasn't horrible tasting. Slow kitchen, careless servers, and management who thinks it's appropriate to bill us for 2 fountain drinks, after the hour wait. Thanks!

Juice was okay. Coffee lukewarm. Problem, no way to stir creamer and sweetener since there weren't any spoons in the rolled silverware. Cheese omelette with ham was the only warm thing on my plate. Cold hash browns and English muffins. I didn't check out the buffet which was another option. I didn't see any staff checking the stations to see if any items needed replacing. Sunday, we had the buffet, not much better than Saturday's ala carte. Dried out scrambled eggs, pancakes that couldn't be cut with a knife. Only good thing was the bacon. $16 for the buffet, beverages separate. For the amount of the room, you'd expect a decent breakfast. Update, the hotel refunded both breakfasts. My comments have been shared with the restaurant's manager and the hotel's general manager.

I stumbled across The Farmer's Table last night on yelp, and perused through the breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. I was intrigued! So tonight, I took a trip to Blossburg, and was impressed by the restaurant's cleanliness, the friendly staff, and the atmosphere that I would describe as modern farm- chic. The food- fresh and delicious! There were several options on the menu....it was difficult to decide! I went with the almond, cranberry, grilled chicken salad with a balsamic vinaigrette- the dish that initially caught my eye. My guest ordered a ribeye steak and was impressed by its taste and overall quality! If you are passing through Blossburg, or simply wish to support a small business, please stop by The Farmer's Table and give it a taste!

This is not going to be an easy review to write. I have so many conflicting thoughts and…read morefeelings... reviewing a restaurant should never be this dramatic! Seriously though... speaking as someone who was a partner in two restaurants in NYC for 4 years, who does not claim to "know it all" but knows some tricks of the trade... I think they've got great potential and would like to share my thoughts with them. Saying they've "got potential" probably come across as smug, obnoxious, and ridiculous, especially because they've got like 4.6 stars here on Yelp! And that's mainly why I found myself here... Staying in Mansfield for the night, I looked up restaurants that were enroute to our hotel. Some of them had 3 or 3.5 stars and I said "no way." But 4.6 stars with as many reviews as The Farmer's Table has? Absolutely! The atmosphere is a little bit diner but cozy enough and has the farm as a theme. There are some cool design elements, like the steel ceiling, the tables... The bathroom was clean and well stocked, and that's a really good sign that the place is sanitary and organized. The waitress was really, really nice... and we loved that we were in this tiny little town and yet she had this really cool, funky image. Great fingernails! I'm jealous! A tip for her to make service even better... think about sequence of service. Think about the extras that the customer will want with the specific thing they ordered so that they won't have to bother you. If they order something with fries, definitely put ketchup on their table, and do it before the food is delivered. There were also a lot of empty tables with salt shakers, but it's had none. Some customers notice these little things and appreciate a server who anticipates their needs. On the other hand, maybe she was just really slammed busy before we got there. My wife and I waited like 2 minutes for her to take my order and she apologized profusely for having us wait so long for her. I was like, "am I in Manhattan or wut???" She was on point, generally easy to find when we needed her, she was never trying to hide from customers (a huge no-no) and very well-intentioned. Definitely a keeper. The food though... I was surprised we didn't like it very much being the reviews were so good. When I got the check to pay, I asked the server what their most beloved and popular dishes are. She said that ppl order a lot of the prime rib sandwich, and also the cat fish. Incidentally, I had ordered the prime rib sandwich, and my wife had the breaded cat fish. I was expecting a lot more meat on my sandwich, and the bun was just a regular burger bun, but it was ok. It came with 3 slices of pickle and cost $11.90. I was still hungry after that so I finished my wife's catfish 'cuz she gets full easily. I liked the catfish more, but neither of us thought it was anything special. What was special were the prices. The catfish included 2 sides, and it cost less than $14. Being from NYC, it was so refreshing to see pricing that reminded me of year 2000! A burger for $7.85 that's not Burger King? Incredible! But the cole slaw... ewww. I didn't hate it, but I kind of forced myself to eat it even though it had a strange flavor. The sweet potato fries were ok. Everything was basically O.K. I imagine that, if I lived there, I would go pretty regularly cuz it's probably the best thing the neighborhood has in a few square miles, and it's easier and more fun than cooking at home (if you're not a cook and you're busy at work). But I think that some improvement in the food could make the place more of a destination. And a destination could actually bring more business to the surrounding businesses! I can understand if the townspeople want very basic food there, but at least offer a few specials that are fancier, better ingredients, something that stands out and is memorable. I know I'm spoiled coming from NYC... a 4.6 star review in places like Manhattan are different than a 4.6 star review in a small town. But this place has some nice things about it. Take it all the way!
