This place isn't bad, but isn't note worth either. The food is okay but could be seasoned better. The waitress was attentive and friendly, until I made the statement that something needed salt. She told me her executive chef was exceptional and I had no idea what I was talking about, which was odd as I thought I knew my own personal tastes, but not as good as her obviously. anyway the bar was adequate, and the food was okay, average not great. read more

I've eaten there many times, both lunches and dinners. The food has always been excellent, the service friendly and the price reasonable. The owner is friendly, outgoing and knows many guest by name. I find no reason to travel to downtown Raleigh or even Clayton when I can find better parking, atmosphere, food, service and price so close to home. read more

Kelley was our waitress and was very helpful with our choices since this was our first time there. Hopefully though the next time we're there , when we say we want the fries very well done , that's what I'd like. Very well done! Other then that it was fine. Skylines Cafe is our favorite place to go for a meal out. We've never had anything that we didn't like ...or love. Their steaks are tasty and very lean, seafood always tastes fresh, the stuffed chicken is one of my husband's favorites (but it does take a longer time to prepare/cook so sit back and have another glass of wine). Everyone on the staff is quite efficient and wants your meal to be enjoyed so let them know if something is not what you expected. Make sure to leave room for one of Tina's homemade desserts, or start with dessert... They have an excellent wine list and the third Friday of the month is wine tasting and microbrew tasting. Not to be missed. Wednesdays is half price bottles of wine and a special tapas menu. Great patio dining in warmer weather! Great place to eat and people watch! read more

Well i work in the next building over so i decided to try Skylines. I had been told by a local resident that he had a bad experience with uncooked food there. I decided to give it a try anyway. Me and my co worker go for lunch. I ordered the black bean burger. Well the burger was frozen. Our waitress decided to eat lunch at the bar alongside us. I asked her if the burger was frozen. Her response was " thats made fresh every day ". Her coworker verified what she said. I looked at my friend and told her to try a piece of the black bean burger i gave her. She couldnt eat it because it was so cold. The waitress was so busy eating she waited till the end to offer me a replacement burger. Why would i want a replacement burger for my cold one? All in all the management needs some training because i have never had my waitress eating alongside me ever ! Plus telling me that it was just made today was a joke. Good thing it was only the veggie burger !!! read more

Wow! We were so impressed by this restaurant! Definitely the healthiest food option in the Clayton area. It is very much the farm to table kind of mentality behind the menu. We went with five of us and two kids... And they were very accommodating. My husband and I shared our dishes, he had the black bean cake with garlic mashed potatoes and quinoa salad, with a spicy sauce onside, absolutely scrumptious! I had the butternut squash bisque(with a hint of spice), fried macaroni and cheese w/ caramelized onions & the skylines salad, all were fantastic!!! My nephew had the turkey corn dogs and loved them as well :) Our server Nicole was enthusiastic, helpful & so on point! We will definitely be visiting this place again!! read more

I had been wanting to check this place out ever since it opened, and finally got around to it. When we first got there, I thought they were closing as there was only two tables seated in the whole place, and didn't see anyone that worked there anywhere. But after a minute a lady came out of the back and was really nice. She ended up being our server and we had pretty good service. Which considering how dead it was, service could have been a tad bit better. Although, it wasn't far from closing time, so I know she was trying to get stuff done to go home. Not that my service should be effected by that but.......anyway. It definitely is a bit of a nicer place, and a little pricey depending on what you get. But that would be one of my complaints is it would be nice if they had a slightly larger menu. However, the items they do have on the menu all looked very good. My wife got the Chicken Parmesan and was happy with it. I just ended up getting the burger off the bar menu, but it was REALLY good in my opinion. Nice big chunk of prime meat, grilled to perfection, and the fries were the big soft steak fries that were seasoned nicely. Overall, I was happy, and we'll definitely be going back again. Hopefully next time it will be a little warmer so I can sit outside on the nice patio area. This time we got away not spending much at all, but I have a feeling I'm gonna drop some cash next time....cuz I gotta try that stuffed chicken! read more

I have been here a handful of times for both lunch and dinner. The food here is pricey for a cafe type restaurant, but it is well prepared and delicious.The customer service has never been excellent on any occasion that I've been here to dine, and the last experience was atrocious. I do understand that it was very busy, so I wont deduct for having to wait over thirty minutes for our dinner. My husbands dinner came first then ten minutes later mine arrived. His food had a old film on top that had settled from sitting out too long, and it tasted cold. We ordered an appetizer of calamari that I had to use my finger to eat with because we had one fork, and I did not get a fork until after we were finished with the appetizer. I asked three times with the person that sat us, along with the server, before finally getting one. We also had empty water glasses that did not get filled until we were done eating dinner, so we just sucked on our ice cubes, until the server finally came over after dinner to fill them. And that was only because she had to ask if we wanted desert. The peanut butter desert that we ordered was scrumptious, minus the plastic wrap that was on top of our plate. The chef at Skylines is exceptional, but the service is below average. I expected better for the prices that they charge, and at minimum our basic needs (even on a busy day), like water and utensils to be taken care of. I will not be returning here with my family. read more

Food is good, price is reasonable especially for clayton. Although they have been consistently changing chefs, I still like the idea of different changing menu and styles of cooking. I like in particular the food that their Jamaican chef make. Not sure if he is still there but great food coming out from the kitchen when I was there. I really like the interior of the restaurant, warm and cozy. The owner moves from one table to the other to chit chat it is kinda like an intimate homey feel bar and restaurant which i think they are trying to promote considering that most of their patrons are local. Most importantly though they probably need someone to constantly check the food coming out from the kitchen, making it sure it is serve hot when it has too like the soup for instance and delivered at the table fast. The manager could be that person hah!!!! The wait staff are attentive. Tommy was a great waiter, very knowledgable but the last time i heard he resigned!! At the end of the day I would rather bring in my friends here than #mannings restaurant. I wish their location was in main street clayton to pumped up that dying town!!!!! read more

My fiancé and I happened upon this amazing place about a month before we were due to move back to California. The food here is fantastic, the atmosphere and service is excellent. They have a staff who is extra accommodating, my vegetarian daughter asked for a dish modification and they handled it beautify. The wine selection great and staff recommendations are on point. I have dined at restaurants all across the country and this is one of my favorites. We have and will continue to dine here whenever we are in town. If you are having desert the banana cheese cake is a must. read more

Skylines is the BEST! Tina, the owner is one of the most "involved" and passionate restaurant owners I have ever seen. You can tell from the moment that you walk in that she really cares about the atmosphere, food, guests and staff. The staff also seems to have a great attitude as well (undoubtedly from her great management!) I am a huge fan of the stuffed chicken and have even tried to duplicate it at home for my family.......but obviously not even close to being as good as hers :) Highly recommend! read more

Best place in Clayton, and could rival downtown Raleigh places. The place is small, but we always get a good table if you are early. The food does not overflow the plate, but hey, when you get a perfect taste - that is what is important. The wine list is very good, and the wines well, have not had a bad wine yet. The Skyline Cafe was more like a bestow to me. My husband and I decided on the hamburger steak we asked for well done it was burnt with gravy. Got the garlic mash potatoes they were better than the hamburger steak. As far as seating we where able to be seated fairly quickly, but didn't see but one waitress and so it took time for us to be able to order. But to be fair we tried it close to there closing time. Having moved here less that a year ago, I thought that I was living in a "culinary wasteland". Then Skylines Cafe opened a couple of months ago and I found my oasis in the Dining Desert. Great food, great people, comfortable surroundings, and a super wine list. So, not only is the food at Skylines delicious, but the atmosphere is great for lunch or a special dinner. I've been many times, but this last time was the best! My sister and I reserved the restaurant to throw my parents a surprise party. Everything was perfect! This is my mama's favorite restaurant and she eats there frequently, so we knew she would love it. My step-dad's art was being displayed. It was just the perfect spot. The food was delicious! Our guests raved about it all day! The staff was so accommodating as I pretty much took over the restaurant. It remains one of the best spots to eat in Clayton! I can't wait to go back for dinner so I can get salmon and the amazing dessert. Skylines also catered my class reunion a few years ago and the food was so good! My husband has talked about a stuffed chicken dish for years now. You can't go wrong with Skylines! read more

One of the things I miss about living in Clayton were my Friday night visits after work for dinner and drinks with friends. Great service, great food and drinks! I love that the owner, Tina, knows customers by name and always takes the time to talk to you. So few owners do that anymore so it makes the dining experience even more special.
