One of our best meals this summer. This place is on an unassuming avenue between Dendermonde and…read moreLebbeke that looks like any road that approaches any old Flemish town.
The husband-and-wife team who run it used to be in fine dining and wanted to open a new place that was simpler (hence the name). The interior has all that chabby chic - glass jars, bare wood tables - that is popular in the U.S.
The menu was on a chalkboard - 2 starters, 2 mains to choose from. We got all four that were on offer that week:
- Cheese croquette
- Baked tomato with tiny shrimp
- Steak frites
- Veg plate (excellent, best we've ever had; but veggie plates do usually suck)
The hours are a little atypical, definitely check before you go. Also, we counted maybe 16 seats total, so a reservation is probably a good idea.
Highly recommended. Best place we have eaten in Dendermonde by far.
