Visited the beautiful old Skodje Bridges with Trond from Local Trips. He dropped us off on one side and then met us after a short walk crossing over two bridges and through a tunnel.
The Skodje Bridges are a series of masonry arch bridges that were built at the request of a couple of school teachers in 1880. The construction started in 1911 and was completed in 1922. They are the longest masonry arch road bridges in Norway.
Due to their age and weight restrictions, they are limited to pedestrian traffic today. A newer steel arch Straumsbrua, Straum Bridge, was built in 2004 to accommodate vehicles crossing the Skodjestraumen.
A nice stop for a short walk along the way to Trollstigen Road. read more
