The offer a ski school in winter which sounds nice. Also, Schladming and Rohrmoos offer a lot for people with kids to do - but I recommend staying up here instead of in the town. It's peaceful up here and the town is a bit crowded with tourists and you can drive to any attraction from the Tritscher apartments.

This ski hire shop is located right at the bottom of the Planai gondola and is very convenient for…read morepicking up and dropping off you skis and stuff. When we went in they were extremely efficient in sorting everybody out on changeover day. The equipment was of good quality and when they didn't have the right size skis for one of our party they opened new ones. They are all rented out electronically, so you don't have to fill in loads of forms, and if you find something isn't right and want to swap when you return to the shop they scan your items and the new ones and add them to your order.

We received a small discount because we were staying in an Almhuette in the Mei Zeit Doerfl. I also received a club card so the next time I visit, it wouldn't take as long. There was only one man on staff and he was a little stressed, but at least we weren't hitting the slopes that day. The ski selection is not huge, but you can also find hats, shoes, gloves, goggles, anything that you may have left behind. Intersport is right next door, but I am happy to support a small business instead. For an entire week of skiing, we paid roughly 118 euros for the skis.

They have a great selection of any outdoor gear you may need; socks, boots, walking poles, quick dry clothing, etc. which is great since there isn't a mall on every corner around these parts. In fact, as far as I saw, this is the only outdoor oriented shop within a 15-20 minute drive.
