The park is the perfect size. Only nordic animals. Not that many options to buy food or coffe when you are in the park so bring it with you.

A tree-lined path runs alongside the water, giving it a calm vibe without trying too hard. It's peaceful, breezy, and very Malmö in that understated way. Perfect for a stroll, a pause, or just watching the water and pretending you're not on a schedule.
King Oscar's Park is gorgeous and its fantastic views are not to be missed if you're ever in Malmö!…read moreAfter getting off the train at Malmö C, I wandered the canal until I eventually landed myself here. The day itself was my favorite kind of day, a gentle rainy one that most would consider unpleasant or dreary. Not me. I purposely don't take summer vacations or vacations to hot places. My goal for the first part of my day was to visit the Malmö Museum (Museer in Swedish) and Castle (Malmöhus Slott), but I also made time to really explore the Kungsparken, or King's Park, as well. This was really an unavoidable thing anyway as I had planned to continue to follow the canal into town to meet my friend after work for dinner, shopping, and goofing off. I'm big on the free outdoors when I travel, you can tell. I enjoyed the little clusters of flowers most, but also the canopy of different tree species and the series of trails, bridges and passageways along the canal, which borders one end of the King's Park. Weeping Willows create shade and privacy. I found the park very romantic! The many benches along the trail would have been perfect for a rest, but alas in the rain that was not an option. It's an 8 plus acre park, and a complete circle would be great exercise. The route I took through altogether was 2 miles of walking. If you're headed to the castle fortress and museum anyway, you can't miss it. Note: The Yelp listing also says "Zoo," but if there is one in here I didn't find it...

It's located right along the coast and the design of the building fit in perfectly. There were a lot of families there (on an overcast Wednesday in July) so it, quite possibly, was one of the more crowded destinations on the itinerary. The place was separated into three sections: Nordic fish, Rainforest, and the Ocean (I'm pretty sure it's ocean...). They also have a large eat-in area and a little cafe stand type place for coffee, other beverages, and small bites. There are also lockers and a rather nice outdoor area (the sea otters are there!) with Hansen Ice Cream and supposed food trucks. We went out and got ice cream. My youngest has food allergies and they were super nice and looked up the ingredients lists! Thankfully, he could have the flavor he wanted. A note for vegetarians: they have a partnership with sustainable fishing company, which I think is awesome! But there are no vegetarian options for kids here, entree wise. My favorite section was the Rainforest. They have free roaming animals including poison dart frogs and even a sloth! Funny enough, I didn't find either of those but I did see many birds, butterflies, a tortoise, and bats. Not to mention the fish in the tanks there that includes piranhas. I could probably spend a lot of time there just trying to find all the animals they have. My friend found a poison dart frog so they are there (they are tiny so they have ample places to hide). Overall, both the adults and kids enjoyed it! I paid 219 DKK for myself and 118 DKK for each of my kids, so around $35 for adults and $19 per kid. They have a gift shop with the most amazing plushies! The most expensive one there was a few hundred USD that was just over the size of a carry on luggage. Overall, rather pricey but I managed to get a small (but the softest) sea turtle as a gift and a magnet for my fridge. Despite needing to pay, I felt like it was a good experience! Don't forget to say hi to the humongous sting ray in the ocean tank! They all have digital signs that switch between English and Danish and you can click on each animal to learn about them more in depth. I loved that! (If I didn't have kids with me, I would have stayed much longer.)

It is advertised as a romantic garden park, and that name seems very appropriate. There is lush, beautiful green everywhere, with flowering plants throughout. Several little lakes and cute bridges are found throughout. Swans, ducks, geese, pigeons, and seagulls were found in many places. There was an area for kids with many young families gathered for some special event the night we were there. At another part of the park, it looked like people were arriving for a concert of some kind later that night. There were a lot of people enjoying the park, but it never felt overwhelmingly crowded, as the park is so big. If I lived in Copenhagen, this park would be a regular for me.

There is a particular focus on elephants (including some bottles of Carlsberg Elephant) with several displays housed in the same structure in which they trumpet. My personal highlights was one of the polar bears that was playing with a can shaped object, flipping it up in the airdiving after it in the water etc. A real performer. I also loved the bright red birds that reside with the flamingos, near the entrance. I forget the name. I was also happy to see my old friend the Mousedeer again. There are a few interactive displays in some of the buildings including a pulse checker into which you insert your finger. I wasn't too sure about how well it works though! At least I prefer to question it's accuracy than have serious concerns about my friend's health! (See photo below)
