Don't need to say much, but I will! I'm in the area for business and the local employees…read morerecommended Wanha Fiskari. Restaurant was exquisite. The atmosphere may have come off as slightly stuffy and old fashioned, but the service was fantastic as was the food.
I'm not a big fish guy but I've been slowly moving my way toward finding comfort in seafood, especially at boutique seafood restaurants. I was uncertain if I should get the current fish of the day (Pike) over a safer smoked salmon option but the waitress assured me it would be great and guaranteed it with free salmon if I didn't like my meal. Ultimately, she offered giving me two half portions of Pike and Salmon. That is just unreal! I essentially got the sampler of what turned out to be two amazingly prepared fish, and this is coming from the non seafood guy. A colleague ordered the venison and thoroughly enjoyed his meal as well.
Menu options: The menu only had 3 options for fish and 3 options for meat dishes. While some people see this as a negative, I actually see it as a very big positive. First, as someone who normally orders steak at a seafood restaurant, it seemed like there was adequate representation for all food types (except maybe vegetarian!) even with a limited selection. Second, and MOST IMPORTANT, you really don't want the opposite, where you have TOO MANY menu options and end up with a "jack of all trades, master of none" result. I've come to find that the boutique restaurants with a very limited menu usually end up excelling in what they do serve. And tonight they hit it out of the park. Theory validated.
Dessert was also excellent. Got the "three way" of panna cotta, ice cream, and chocolate mousse pie/cake. After all was done, I felt satisfied but not stuffed. Given I had dessert, that was the best case scenario possible.
5 stars.
