Stir Crazy in Neutral Bay is a restaurant but I use it more as a Thai Takeaway in times of lazy cooking nights. It's the kind of place you keep going back to, a place that's stopped me trying one of the other million or so Thai restaurants in the North Shore area. What's possibly more shameful is that I can't go past the Chicken Green Curry ($12.90) - it's just so yummy and fresh. Unlike some other Thai restaurant that use average quality coconut milk Stir Crazy's curries leave my sensitive stomach feeling joyous rather than jumpy.
A tasty appetizer are the Money Bags ($6.90 for 4 pieces) which is minced chicken, green peas and corn wrapped in pastry served with sweet chili sauce.
A note on the side rice - they tend to overestimate how much you need. Whether I've ordered for a hungry crew or not there is always far too much rice on their quantity recommendation.
The other day I walked past the restaurant and saw the staff enjoying a pre-opening meal together - food for the soul but also good food to share over a long communal table.
Takeaway and delivery available. Generally the wait for delivery is 45 minutes. We live 5 minutes away by car so if you're a bit further and hungry you may want to order ahead of the tummy grumble breaking point. read more
