I didn't want to write this review. I wanted the business to make it right, so I reached out to…read morethem on two separate occasions with no response. I booked myself and six young people for an event that was advertised as family friendly. The class started 30 minutes late (tough for an impatient 7 year old) and then the ONLY instruction was, "I would start with the background." I wish this was an exaggeration. Then the instructor sat behind the desk for the duration of the class. When I've gone in the past, the instructor walked us through the painting while they painted on stage and gave tips, often circulating through the class to see if anyone needed help. Not this time. There were no printed instructions either. There was a monitor that displayed the painting but it went off halfway through the class, leaving us to use our phone screen or our imagination to finish. Despite starting thirty minutes late, it ended on time which cheated us out of our full booking. And then the "instructor" had the nerve to put a tip bucket atop a stool standing between us the door. Everyone has a bad day, but this experience was particularly egregious. Coupled with the company's refusal to acknowledge, apologize, or remedy the problem leaves me no other option than to recommend Google users NOT patronize Painting With a Twist Metairie.

As you can see the rooms are damn near bare and you have to pay for EVERYTHING!! lol this place is the spirit airlines of rage rooms, you gotta pay to wear the protective jumpsuit (other places include this) it was NOT presented as an option, it was just stated that they were extra. Had I known it was an option we wouldn't have rented them. you have to add on things to smash which should be included. I understand TVs, larger items, and additional things; sure...but glass bottles should be included. If they were supposed to be they WERE NOT! We paid for bottles. The ones I've visited previously have plates, glass, bottles, etc.) I completely understand how cost works which is why I purchased a Groupon vs paying regular prices. Also the room is half ass filled with items that have already been smashed and unless you're a huge man ain't much left to do to it. Thank goodness I used a Groupon. They do offer a painting option. The staff was cool; but I personally wouldn't return. The kids did enjoy themselves (their first experience) so that was good. With better organization, communication, and an understanding of what the customer is interested in or expecting this place could go far. The rooms should be prepared for specific age groups because giving preteens ovens and refrigerators that have already been smashed is just crazy.

Perfect for date nights because you both can pick a different painting and don't have to wait for the 2 piece image so that you don't have to fight over whose is better and gets the honor of hanging up in your apartment/house! The wood pallet and paint is provided, as well as the stencils and step-by-step instructions, and you can bring your own wine! They don't have cups though, so remember to bring your own disposable ones! You pick your design online (or scroll through their facebook for more options), then personalize what you want (ie last name & established), then choose your background and paint colors when you arrive! I was afraid it was going to be super hard, and that I wouldn't get a product I love because I'm not that talented, but they guide you through the steps of turning your bright new wood pallet into the dream painting you would be prous to hang on your wall or show off on social media for all the world to see! I even learned how to distress the wood to give mine an antique feel! One of my absolute favorite painting places and I will definitely be back! You can schedule parties, or show up to a pick your pallet project to try arts and crafts with strangers (aka friends you haven't made yet!)!

I'm obsessed y'all…read more Paint and Sip classes have always been one of my favorite things to do. The Rustic Brush takes it to a whole nother level though. Tracy & Travis opened up their doors late fall of 2019 and were only open for a few months before COVID-19 struck. I love and appreciate how they adapted and created DIY kits that you can take home and enjoy socially distant and in the comfort of your Casa. It was super easy to order my kit ahead of time and when I picked it up masks were worn and everything by their team. I loved doing the kits in the comfort of my own home. Everything was packaged and labeled nicely. I enjoyed the butch paper wrapping since I could use that as my painting station and not ruin my furniture. All the paints were packaged individually, came with a set of sponge brushes, a disposable apron (yes please!), and of course the custom stencil I chose. You can actually choose up to three paint colors and they have a wide variety of stencils and projects to choose from. Currently during COVID-19 you can book a private experience for a small group of folks and it's BYOB!

I picked up my kit a few days later and that was quick and easy as well. I selected the classic gray stained wood and must admit I was disappointed in how it looked. The stain didn't appear to take on most of the wood. I wouldn't have been happy putting my stencil directly on top of the wood, so I painted the wood white first. You basically paint on top of the provided stencil and then pull the stencil off. It was challenging because the smaller pieces took forever to pull up. I literally broke a sweat lol! My takeaway from that is to pick a pattern that isn't so complex the next time. Overall, I was pleased with my finished product. I just wish it had the classic gray background.
