It was bright and clean and I was greeted by a very friendly guy named Rob ( I think that's his name ) I asked for the address so I could call a cab, but he offered to call for me. I thought that was really nice of him. They have a huge cooler full of various cider and beer. ( Rob told me it was the coldest one downtown and I believe it ! ) I wasn't sure about the cider I picked out and he actually gave me a sample of it to try ! That I thought was so cool, I have never been to any place that gives samples ! Good thing I tried it as I didn't really like it, so he suggested something else, which I bought, and really liked. This is a new store and it's a family run. They really went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. I totally will return and hope that they have great success. Go check them out !

He then proceeded to yell at me and Be quite disrespectful for no reason at all. I have never experienced such disrespect in a store! I mean he was on his phone on the job first of All and then had the audacity to scream me out! I will never go back there again after my experience. Also the owner is super creepy!! Normally I am not bothered by rude people but the unprofessionalism and complete meaness I experienced really upset me.

Their featured sales items list is always very large and I am rarely disappointed. The store is clean, organized and easy to navigate. Backpacks are a necessity to check in which I fully support. Too many displays that could be accidentally knocked down. Hours of operation 10am-10pm, 7 days a week. Lots of parking in front of the store. Members acquire membership points. I cannot say enough about the staff from the floor staff who are always, helpful, knowledgeable and instructive to the cashiers who are friendly, conversational and sometimes very humorous. I always leave with a smile on my face and a good feeling in my heart. At times they hold special events such as wine sampling with guest sommeliers, winery or liquor representatives and other creative and talented people who promote certain brands. Although this is temporarily halted due to the covid crisis. This is a wonderful store to stock up for your holiday needs, cooking requirements or anything else you may have in mind.

I politely answered that I did however I was told that meant I could not come into the store. Unfortunately that is a red line for me. I bike everywhere and it is not safe to carry things on a bike without panniers or a back pack. I use both. It is a small contribution to the environment and to my health. I am fine if you want to check my backpack on the way in and out (if you are nice about it). I am also okay if you want to follow me around the store. Please reconsider your policies. Until you do, I encourage all peddlers and pedestrians to take their business elsewhere.

The store is very dim and disorganized with boxes everywhere. They have rack after rack of wine, which is supposedly organized by country. All the price ranges are mixed together, $14 with $35. They have a display case in the back full of $100 and even $300 wines! As I searched the rows, all I saw was red wine, one out of 20 was white! So I decided on a rose. Then spotted a red at the back that seemed appealing. I noticed that they do tastings, so I asked the guy when I went to pay. He said that they do and he actually had a red open right now, if I was interested. I never pass up free samples of wine! It turned out to be an amazing selection too, one I had never heard of, which I think I will try next time. They also have a basic stock of beer and liquors at standard prices. So I bought the rose, at $15 and the red at $20. The rose turned out to be horrible, so I feel that was a waste of money. I have had $10 bottles of wine that were better than that. The red turned out to be perfect. So I will definitely ask for advice when it comes to shopping here for wine again. I will return to Varsity Wine if I am in need of a pricier wine, but there are better places to buy a good cheap bottle of wine from.

They gave us so many samples that I was on the edge of needing a cab. Others at the event certainly drank all of their samples and would not have been driving. Food paired with the beer and wine was quality. I wouldn't have needed to eat dinner beforehand. The host made the event educational, fun and invited everyone to stay afterward for more of the food and beverage samples they liked. He also handed out coupons for store discounts. I was impressed with the attendance, which was about 20 people, making it even more interesting. An event like this, which was on a Sat. night, is a fun outing and great way to start off an evening. I'd highly recommend checking out the events calendar and I'll definitely go to another function here.

While the main store in Crowfoot is a liquor super centre, this location is a little more like a general store. The selection is much smaller but they still do an impressive job at keeping the right products on hand so you can stop here for something craft or something common. The staff are friendly, mature and knowledgeable enough about their products to set them apart from any other liquor stores on 14th Street. While not high enough on the awesome scale to be one of Calgary's great destination liquor locations, this Crowfoot Liquor isn't trying to be.
