Was in the area as we are in the market to buy a home, and any home we buy needs to be close by to a public park! So before my scheduled tour time, I came here to scope it out.
The trailhead begins off of Concord St N, right beneath the pedestrian overpass. The parking lot is by no means large, but seemed ample enough in number of spots (approximately twenty) to park. You'll find a single-occupant gender neutral restroom at the trailhead, as well as a cool Native American sculpture and a kiosk with info about the trails and nearby parks.
You can proceed eastward over the pedestrian bridge to walk nearby/along the Mississippi River, or you can proceed westward up the hill (slope is minimal) through the well-established folliage, through the tunnel under 19th Ave, over to Kaposia Park/Thompson Park. It's really serene and you feel like you're no longer in the city. The trail is paved and in good condition. read more
