Whenever I get delivery from Simon's, I feel like I'm receiving a care package from my dad. Everything is made to order, clearly prepared in-house, and nothing is ever wrong. They think of everything, from extra sauces to the small details that make an order feel cared for. I really hope whoever is running Simon's now keeps this up, or carries that same high standard forward for anyone who works there or runs it in the future. Here on work travel. Very extensive menu and incredibly friendly staff. Don't know if roast beef is some sort of specialty in these parts; wasn't in the mood for seafood tonight because my stomach is quite upset from all the travel. The roast beef sandwich was one point and high quality. Only way I think I could be improved is if there was a side of au jus. Maybe there is and I missed it. Got a side of fried mushrooms which there is a good heft amount of for what it costs. There is a good chance I'll be back here this week to try other items or at a minimum my next trip. This friendly neighborhood eatery (dine in, takeout or delivery) serves up thin crust pizza, calzones, fried appetizers, roast beef sandwiches, club sandwiches, subs, salads, pasta dinners, dinner plates (steak tips, gyro, kabob), bottled beverages from the Coke cooler, and desserts (cookies & brownies). Daily and ongoing specials are offered. August 2007: A Large Cheese Pizza is only $5.00 (between 8PM and 10 PM daily). This is an order at the counter place with overhead menu boards. The bright dining area with brownish red walls with wall decor/sconces has booth and table seating with overhanging decorative glass lights and stool seating along the front window. Wifi is available too! I ordered the Vegetable Lasagna Special ($5.99) served with garlic bread. The small piece of lasagna (cheese, sauce & diced zucchini between the noodles) topped with marinara sauce and four split chewy sausages was a decent tasting dish. Still on my quest to find the best delivery steak salad around the city, I came to this one. Decently priced at just over $12 including tax. They should be embarrassed to call this a STEAK TIP salad. These tiny pieces of meat were hard and chewy. There were no croutons or onions & peppers, seemed like bagged iceberg mix with a few tomato pieces and a couple cucumber disks. I have always loved this restaurant's food. I have not been here for years but decided to stop in and have my favorite dish, steak tips and broccoli penne with alfredo sauce. Also a piece of baklava and a container of coleslaw. OMG, this place has gone downhill with the food. The steak tips were delicious, but the alfredo sauce tasted just like cream, that's it, no flavor whatsoever. I don't know if they've been watering it down, but it tasted awful. The baklava tasted like it had been on the shelf for way to long. It didn't taste fresh at all. There's no expiration dates, so how do they know how old it is!? I use to really enjoy Simons. The roast beef was delicious years ago. Not the case anymore. I ordered a large roast beef on a onion roll with a side of seasoned fries. What arrived you ask? A stale onion roll with grey, yes it was grey zero pink, roast beef. I took one bite and I had no choice but to throw it out. Meat was rancid. Fries? Plenty of them, except NO Seasoning. What did this experiment teach me? Food poisoning is no fun and Simons has lost all food quality and customer service skills. Never going there again!!! I ordered food and it was wrong. I called and was offered a credit for a free meal for next time. I ordered my free meal a few days later and was told I was all set. When I get there I stood there waiting while the staff ignored me and I could hear the cooks make comments to check my food before I leave. When the cashier comes out I am then told that they will not credit my meal as previously told. I began to reluctantly pay for my meal when my husband got upset and yelled for the manager to come out. The owner proceeded to come out and begin yelling in my husband's face to leave and never order from them again. Worst service I have ever encountered!!! The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The Good: Really good pizza. Have ordered pizza's here many times for family and parties - never been disappointed. Thinner crust like a NY style which is the way I like it - not too doughy. Grade; A The Bad: Well, not all bad - their subs are actually pretty good for the most part but if you get your sub with onions they will load it up with CHOPPED onions, not sliced. You know what that means, most fall out all over the place. They must not eat their own subs or they would amend that practice pronto. Once I even requested sliced raw onion and was told no, they don't do it that way. Too bad b/c otherwise they would rate an A for subs, but I have to grade a C The Ugly: Do not under any circumstance order a gyro. They don't wrap the gyro in a pita as is normal, rather they stuff it in half a calzone shell. Yeah, thats right, half raw pizza dough with your gyro - yuck!. The gyro meat is not fresh, rather its those frozen pops that are greasy and tasteless. The tzatziki sauce was runny and definitely came from a commercially made tub. Food is a tad overpriced but pretty good. My main complaint is they never have enough help on to take phone orders @ meal time. If you you want your phone delivery order taken without being put on hold and delivered hot in a timely manner don't call @ peak times (e.g. if you're calling @ dinner time call around 7:00 or even a bit later . Am upgrading my review to 4 stars. This is worst service I have ever been given. I ordered one pizza and a pasta side dinner the price was outrageous at over $31 !! I stood in front of the older woman at the front desk for 7 minutes she did not look up at me not a single time !! There were two people in the kitchen that looked at me several times and said nothing ! The young girl stocking desserts up front looked at me over a dozen times and said absolutely nothing ! So a while back i had an altercation with one of the managers there about being sent the wrong food. He was completely rude to me and since then if i order they make it a point to say something IE oh are you sure you want or oh we can't forget that address... i can deal with that but tonight they sent me a gluten free pizza with a black crust piece sticking out of the middle of the pizza. I used to love the sausage pizza here when they used slices of real sausage. Now they use crumbled sausage. Not as tasty. Tonights order was 2 hours to deliver and was supposed to be remade. My puzza roll was hard as a rock and went in the trash. The steak is usually ok. The driver was great. Not his fault he was sent to the wrong town. It was challenging enough getting through the ordering process without repeating yourself 10 times. Delivery was fine; on time and the delivery guy was very nice . Noticed that we were sent the wrong pizza - we ordered a speciality pizza that is significantly more money than the cheese pizza we got . No big deal , we called and said no problem but could you either send us a new pizza or refund the money . Spoke to the manager - morning but attitude and hung up on my husband . My husband calls back same manager- your pizzas in the oven what do you want ? Hung up. Well now we don't trust you to properly make the pizza and don't appreciate the attitude . I tried to call and he answers the phone what ?! Said he refuses to refund our money and we can't have it both ways . I said well if you stopped hanging up you and this isn't the way to handle a customer . He yelled at me fine I'll refund you but never call here again and hung up. The website is well outdated. Asked for a meatball sub with provolone cheese and toasted the meatballs were gross ,there was no provolone and there's no way it was really toasted. My husband asked for a super roast beef with cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce. he got the super roast beef but no cheese or barbecue sauce. The onion rings were so overdone they just crunched and tasted burnt. Ask for extra cheese on the pizza, if it was extra cheese it didn't look it-so maybe you need to ask for three times the amount. They screwed up and also gave us a steak and cheese sub that we did not order. Good thing we didn't we had to really look for the steak.
