David coached me through the whole process and was able to calm my anxieties when my LL started to get aggressive. He has a deep knowledge of the law, and was able to cite specific instances of my LL acting illegally. The outcome resulted in my LL folding and choosing one of the options that David wrote in a demand letter. The two consultations were the best money I have ever spent, and I would highly recommend David to anyone who believes their LL is taking advantage of them.

Very upfront and honest about landlord rights and responsibilities. All emails and texts received quick responses from the team. Their actions resulted in the tenants moving out after Stage 2. Daniel Marshall Attorney at Law is the team to trust when the eviction process is the only option when dealing with uncooperative tenants. Thank-you Team Marshall!!!

The person removed themselves before the 60 day notice expired. It was painless and although I had to pay, Daniel Marshall's office was efficient and did follow-up to make sure everything went well and there was no need to remove the individual with a lawsuit. It was worth it. The amount we offered for the person to leave was the same amount it cost to have the person legally removed. Lesson learned.

She also claimed that I authorized a service I "could not afford." To be clear, my ability to pay was never the issue. The issue is that I dispute the $799 invoice, I never signed an agreement authorizing that amount, and I was unable to speak with a supervisor or manager despite requesting to do so. I even offered $350 in good faith for the time they spent, but instead of receiving a professional response, I received personal insults and intimidating comments about facing "consequences." Lawrence is truly a good lawyer and general good guy. During all the economic eviction chaos that…read morewas going on in San Diego, we desperately needed support against a bad landlord. There isnt much support for tenants here, really, there are is almost none. After calling about 30 offices and being told they were to busy or only supported landlords, Lawrence listen to what we had to say and decided to represent my wife and I from illegal rental increases. Everyone else wanted us to go to court. Lawrence instead wrote a nice letter for our landlord, explained what we were going to do, and then put the ball in the landlords court. That was enough to get him to back down, listen to reason, and keep the rent at the legal and fair rate. Avoided the hassle of court for both sides, and saved everyone money, while resolving the overall issue. At no point was he looking to railroad anyone, he genuinely wanted to seek mutually beneficial outcomes for both side, despite not really ever needing to engage with the landlord. I really appreciated that he advised us to just seek what was genuinely fair. Lawrence was kind, responsive to emails and phone calls. My wife was very scared about the worst case scenarios and Lawrence took the time to address all of her concerns as well as mine. He gave us peace of mind with a sold plan with each step. He followed up with us during the way and even checked back in with us months later to make sure things were still going well. I really can't put into words how great it felt to have Lawrence on our side, if I was a landlord, which is what he mostly represents, I would want this man working for me.

The eviction process can be a headache but call the office and let them take care of it for you. Heather, one of the paralegals that works there is great. She's very responsive to emails and answered any questions I had in a timely manner. They have a licensed process server to serve notices. Our tenant didn't pay rent after being served the 3 day notice to pay or quit and he was still in possession of the property so the office filed an Unlawful Detainer. The tenant contested with nonsense defenses that were not true. Trial day comes along and the tenant doesn't show up so my mom won her case and was granted possession of the premises back. Attorney David Owens is very friendly and gets the job done. He's a busy person so his paralegals are good at handling and processing the paperwork. Working with Hoffman & Forde -- specifically Mike Dicks -- was one of the most frustrating…read moreprofessional experiences I've ever had. My sister and I hired the firm to represent us in a construction defect case involving our home. At first, our case was assigned to a junior attorney. When that attorney left the firm, Mike Dicks took over. From that point on, the entire process became far more stressful and chaotic than it needed to be. Instead of feeling like our attorney was advocating for us, it constantly felt like we were being pressured, dismissed, or talked down to. Any time we asked questions or pushed back on changes, we were treated as if we were the problem. One of the most maddening patterns was being told that parts of the settlement agreement were "final." We were repeatedly told we could not make further changes. Then the defense would make additional changes anyway, and suddenly those changes were allowed. When we asked questions about those changes, we were told we were jeopardizing the deal. This happened over and over again and created constant confusion about what was actually finalized and what wasn't. Another major issue was the lack of attention to detail. We provided extensive documentation of the problems with our house, including photos and written descriptions. Despite that, several critical issues were not properly addressed in the settlement scope. My sister repeatedly had to review and redline documents herself just to correct errors or omissions that should have been caught by our attorney. A perfect example involves two large floor-to-ceiling windows. Multiple experts who walked through the house suspected those windows were leaking, but we did not yet have clear documentation of water intrusion. Then, right around the time we were being pushed to sign earlier versions of the settlement agreement, a storm came through. During that storm my sister was able to record water visibly running down the inside of one of the windows. Despite that evidence, those windows were still not included in the final settlement scope, even though they were clearly part of the water intrusion issues affecting the property. The office also seemed extremely disorganized. We were asked multiple times for documents we had already provided. Outdated versions of the settlement agreement were circulated and referred to as the final version. At times it genuinely felt like no one was carefully reviewing the documents being sent to us. We were also repeatedly told the defendants were essentially insolvent and that we needed to accept the settlement because there was no money to pursue. When we asked how that determination had been made, the only documentation referenced was a financial disclosure sheet completed by the defendant himself listing limited assets. We were never informed if the actual business's financial records had been reviewed. Throughout all of this, the firm's partner, Daniel Forde, was copied on many of the communications but never stepped in to address the obvious problems. To be clear, the construction work that is now being completed at the property has addressed many of the defects. In fact, the damage turned out to be so extensive that the contractors ultimately ended up doing far more work than what was originally contemplated in the settlement. But that outcome came despite the legal representation, not because of it. What should have been professional legal guidance instead turned into months of unnecessary stress, confusion, and frustration. Far too often it felt like we were the ones doing the detailed review work while also paying legal fees. If you are considering hiring Hoffman & Forde, I strongly recommend asking very direct questions about who will actually handle your case and how closely documents will be reviewed before anything is finalized. Our experience with Mike Dicks was chaotic, exhausting, and deeply disappointing.
