I was in the area (for a Yelp Elite experience, actually lol) but it was a gorgeous day outside (aka, forties in February) so I wanted to make sure I soaked up some of the sunshine in the afternoon. Peeking at this place on Google maps it didn't look like much, but I gave it a shot; I'm quite glad I did! Part of why I'd been unsure was because it does have a relatively small footprint of the landscape (it doesn't even encompass the entire lake, as many houses have backyards around more than half the shore... boo). But, they made up for it with a really nice visitor center and art installations! Honestly, I'd say this place wouldn't be half as good without the outdoor art walk; I really enjoyed discovering all the unique and fun sculptures along the path. It meant I got a much more engaged and lengthy experience; I don't know if their longest path was much more than a mile's distance, but because of the sculptures I kept venturing off the paved path to check them out up close (and take photos and selfies with each)! It was fun. There seemed to be two parking lots. The one near the visitor center was pretty large and seemed to be necessary; there were quite a lot of visitors there when I was, plus a school bus! Most of the visitors seemed to be there to enjoy some skating around out on the frozen lake, but others were walking the trail. Inside the visitor center were bathrooms, including a family restroom, water fountains, including a water bottle refill station, cute little trinkets to buy, a cafe with beverages and bakery snacks, a cozy seating area, lots of rooms for community events, a board advertising said community events for the next couple months, and an art exhibit. I was grateful for the easy access to bathrooms and water! Just outside the visitor center was one of the most adorable little free libraries I've ever seen, nestled inside a mushroom-like sculpture! All in all, definitely worth checking out. Unless you lived nearby, you probably wouldn't go too repeatedly (I think the indoor art exhibit changes seasonally, but the outdoor one has been installed awhile... one of the plaques read 2018), but it's great for a one-off or occasional visit! read more

I love Silverwood Park. It has beautiful trails through the woods and along the lake. Every year, we are lucky enough to see a family of Great Horned owls in the spring that make their nests there. The lake is perfect for kayaking, paddleboarding or swimming. I also enjoy their cafe and art center, which offers delicious treats and Wi-Fi so you can work in an alternate space. read more

Such a cool park to walk in, with lots of sculptures, beautiful trees and plants and really well maintained paths. The peninsula is super cool and has a picnic pavilion with grills. Parking is plentiful with at least two lots I saw and two different entrances. Today the frogs were super loud, we saw two deer just chilling, and we could hear the red wing blackbirds are back. Definitely a great popular place to visit in the area. read more

Silverwood Park... I like it, but I hate the name. Silverwood is meaningless on its own and the name sounds like a typical corporate mashup of two dissimilar words thrown together. Or maybe something a committee came up with in the early 1960s after their three-martini lunch. (I hope that they got the Don Draper Double-Clutch Discount on that one!) Yeah, it's near Silver Lake Road and Silver Lake itself, but why not call it Silver Lake Park (or Silverlake Park, if you're into the whole condensing words thing)? There must be a reason, but I'm too lazy to look it up and it's not gonna change anything anyway. Silverwood it is! Anyway, the park! It's a very spacious-feeling park area with a nice building and a lake with a peninsula in it, plus some shorter paved walking trails and a number of art installations scattered throughout. The building has a meeting area with wood plank ceilings and a decent cafe in it, plus restrooms for those seeking to rest. Out of everything, the so-called silver lake is the highlight of this shebang. Take a stroll and take it all in. read more

A great park in St. Anthony Village! One of my favorites for dog walking year round. This park has many amenities including a lodge, picnic tables, a beach, and art sculptures. I just attended a wedding here and it is a very cool event center. Since it is winter i did not walk around outside or go down to the lake since it was frozen. I did run outside for a photo by the fireplace. We Phoenicians do not get to see snow very often. So my review is only for the event enter. Great place to have a party so check it out. from the other reviews it seems like a great place to enjoy the outdoors too when the weather improves. read more

Love Silverwood Park! This is my first winter visit. If you've never been, it's a must! Especially during fall and summer months. Though we very much enjoyed during this visit. I was excited to seen many walking paths have been plowed. Though if you veer off the main path, the hard packed snow can be slippery, but hello, it's MN! If you venture out during these long winter months do warm up inside and check out the visitor's center. There is a cafe with hot chocolate, light bites, coffee drinks to warm up inside! Also, checkout the events and activities listed and available the there are so many fun things to do for all ages! And if you enjoy this park there are more parks connected within the Three Rivers Park District. Each park offers something new and fun for you and/or the whole family. Wow! I attended a Sculpture Trail Tour here with friends. OKAY I knew this park was beautiful...but I didn't really realize there were sculptures here...and they are STUNNING! Our guide, guide who is part of the Visitor's Center and with Three Rivers Park was very knowledgeable and informative. What an awesome tour and to top it all off, we got to see an owl and her owlette resting in the nearby trees. Afterwards my friends and I enjoyed a yummy lunch...they have awesome salads and coffee here. LOVE! read more

Hidden gem in the St. Anthony area (NE Mpls area). Wow-don't know what to really start with: The Natural History & Forest Bathing Tours or the Sculpture & Poetry Tours? Or just a dog-walk (on leash) around the park? 2.2 miles of paved hike/bike fun, as well as trails at your pace and unpaved hikes. Perfect, well maintained beautiful park! It is not too big where you can't see it all and not too small that you don't feel like you've gotten away. With a one mile curvy, paved trail flowing over hills, through woods and along Silver Lake, it is the perfect distance to quick walk the dog or exercise your galloping children. Or... you can get a coffee in the brand new building, sit by the real stone fireplace and look at local art, then walk out to the island and sit on a bench overlooking the water/ice. (No dogs allowed across the bridge.) Serenity now! :) P.S. If you are into native plants and gardening this is a must-see park in the summer. read more

Clean park with paved trails and plenty of parking! The sculptures along the trail are unique and fun to look at! Great for a leisurely walk! I wish there were more garbage cans on the trails, since I like to walk my dog here and the only trash can was the one by the bridge/lake. I think there's also a cafe and bathrooms in the visitor center, but I've never gone in there. read more

I've been visiting Silverwood Park for several years. Silverwood offers a variety of programs for people of all ages, and so far the programs I've tried have been lovely. The grounds and buildings are immaculate and stunning. The trails are nicely paved and easy to walk or bike. The island is accessible by a footbridge and is a great place to spend time picnicking or hanging out with the kids. The cafe is wonderful. I love sitting by the big windows looking out, drinking a hot chai and reading a book. Silverwood is wonderful in any season and any weather. This place is a gem. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon with my girl's tennis team for a picnic and canoe ride on the lake. All of the staff were very respectful and helpful in assisting us, but two staff who really stood out were Elijah and Ana (I apologize if I spelled your names wrong). I had rented a total of 4 canoes but they were very patient in handing out the life jackets, oars, and canoes. I watched as they sanitized everything to keep everyone safe. For most of the girls, it was their first time canoeing but they all had a blast. I highly recommend the park and their watercraft rentals! read more

All I have to say is WOW! Actually I have more to say, which you would know if you have read any of my reviews. Anyway, here it goes... This is not your run-of-the-mill park. It is absolutely gorgeous! They have an art and nature theme throughout the park. While enjoying a walk to and around the lake, there are many sculptures with nature themes. (I do not know if there are bike trails.) A very photogenic park! They have a great visitor's center and banquet space as well. My brother recently got married here. With a 'green' support staff, they were very willing and helpful in accommodating all of your needs. They use all compostable and recyclable products and recommend you do as well. Complete with a kitchen and huge banquet room, it was easy to accommodate all 200+ guests. (We did have to do all of the set up though, as per the usual.) The actual wedding took place on the patio. Complete with rocking chairs and a stone fireplace, the ceremony overlooked the lake, complimented by the artsy sculptures in the background. The park has two docks for fishing and the like. They offer summer classes that follow the art/nature theme as well. All in all, this is a very beautiful and well maintained space. I can't believe I lived across the lake for a year and never knew this place existed! Be careful though. If you check it out, you may want to get married here too! read more

This is a nice park. They have a couple of geocaches in it to keep those hunters going. There are art and poetry markers around to keep the nature lovers involved. The center is nice and clean. We went there for Grasshead day. The kids enjoyed decorating old pill bottles and stuffing nylons full or grass seeds and dirt. This was a free event, so the price was right. When we took a walk around, there was a group of people on a nature hike. It sounded like they were guided by someone who worked there. Although I don't know if ice under water near shore is really a "rare" event. read more

Beautiful park - very well put together and maintained. We just had our wedding here and it was awesome - lot of art, trails, etc through the park - we had our ceremony up in Dyer's garden which is secluded and didn't have to pay an extra fee for rental - which helps since these things get crazy expensive!! The cafe has really tasty food and the staff was very helpful in answering questions and getting back to us quickly. My only complaint would be that it would be nice to have two dressing rooms for those w/ the ceremony and reception on site - the guys were getting dressed in the storage room - someone said it was fine and another person there kicked em out. Location is really convenient as well - at least for us - close to downtown mpls. They also compost and very little garbage was generated from our event - at least once people figured out that everything was compostable! read more

My brother and the wonderful Annie D got married here in the spring, and it was such a beautiful location! When I usually think of a wedding at a park, I think "ew". This was not the case. They have a wonderful outdoor area for the ceremony that seated all the guests at the wedding (about 250!). The inside is wonderful, and big! High ceilings and windows all on one wall that go to an outdoor balcony area that had a fire pit. The instead definitely fit everybody comfortably. Even during dinner time when seats are usually pushed against each other from different tables, there was room to walk between tables. read more

Stunning park. I live like almost next door to this park. I can see the beach from my dining room! In any case, it's my go-to for a quiet break from the house, dog walking sesh, nature blast to the state of mind, and a place to bring the kid for a fun afternoon. The trails are long. Some paved, some mulched, some beaten down. You can take a "long" way or a "short cut!" There are also tiny paths to the shore of the lake and miscellaneous docks here and there to push someone off of. The bridge that takes you to the island is usually littered with people fishing. I found it so odd that people fish here... but one day I rode my bike past a man as he pulled his line out with a sunny on it and a bright smile on his face! Nature is abundant here. Foliage, flora, critters and deer! And the art... you'll be prancing around minding your business amongst natural beauty and then boom! There's an art installation in the midst of wildflowers. So cool. My cousin had her wedding here last summer and the building is beautifully maintained as is the outdoor patio area overlooking some of the park and the lake. Great place for a fancy event. My stepdaughter will be attending a summer art day camp soon as well. For real, I love this park! PS. I'm pretty sure it's the only Three River District Park with a beach adjacent to it. Not a terrible beach: has a pavilion, sad volleyball court, a tiny playground and a swim area. Kids love it but lots of geese! read more

An absolutely gorgeous park! My friends are getting married here in October, so we visited to check things out. The main building was very large, and could accommodate a large wedding, while at the same time staying open to the public. They also have a very respectable cafe and small kitchen with decent pricing. I should also add that they compost, and strongly encourage it everywhere (all refuse stations have compost, recycling, and trash). I really appreciated that. read more

I recently moved to NE and I needed to find a lake near me, because I crave the sound of water splashing. I came across Silverwood Park and decided to hop in my car and drive the quick 5 minute drive there and have now been there several times since. The park really has a lot to offer. There are a few walking paths that you can take. Some just around the water area and others in more woodsy areas. There is information centers at various parts of the park. You can actually call in and they inform you of what the center is about. I called into some handmade irrigation section and it was actually pretty interesting. I typically like to keep my learning outside of my mindfulness time, but hey it sparked my interest! There is a little bridge that people were fishing on that made me slightly want to take up the hobby myself. There is a beach on the lake but it is pretty small, but I mean....this isn't California or anything. Every time I have gone it has been pretty peaceful, there have been people out and about but not super crowded like other Lake areas in the cities can get. There is an event center pretty centrally located of the park and it looks beautiful as well. I'll keep coming back. Happy to have a peaceful place so close by for those moments I need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. read more

Great place to spend the afternoon. The trails were long enough to get a good walk in but not so long that you're tired and want to leave but are too far from the building. There were several interactive sculptures that a 6 & 7 year old had fun interacting with. The human sundial will be fun to play with on a sunny day in the future. After our hike, we grabbed a few pasties and a sandwich from the coffee shop. The prices were more than fair and the food was delicious. There are several activists thoughout the year here and I'll definitely be trying to make in the future. read more

We held our wedding ceremony and reception at Silverwood Park in late August. Our guests commented what a beautiful venue it was and how the nature setting fit us as a couple. The staff was incredibly helpful! They met with us a couple of weeks before our event to go over last minute details. They helped us to think of some things that we hadn't considered yet. The day of the event, it was raining in the early morning so we decided to move our ceremony from the patio to inside. At the last minute, the weather cooperated so we moved back outside. The staff was WONDEFFUL in helping us change our ceremony location TWICE! I would recommend Silverwood to any couple looking for a wedding venue. read more

Love that this little unknown hide-away is so close to my place, just sorry it took me this long to figure out it was here! The park/trails are really well kept, there are art installments along the walking path, which keep things interesting if you need something to talk about on a walk, and it's never been really busy when I've been there. There's a few small beaches with docks where you can lay out or rent a kayak. Not sure about the swimming though. The beaches looked pretty clean, but it looked like there was a lot of seaweed (which is why I took off a star). There's also a cabin/venue where you can go inside and order coffee and then come sit out on the deck/wrap-around porch in any of their tables or rocking chairs. I'm pretty sure the venue is also used for parties and weddings. Love this place. read more

This is simply a great local park. The paths are well-kept year round. Cyclists coexist well with pedestrians. There are modern art installations scattered around the grounds with plenty of places to just sit and enjoy nature. The cafe and central building is great. The cafe offers unique and constantly changing coffee and tea drinks. Nice seating area to relax- with a fireplace for those cold winter days. Items made by local artists are often on display and for sale. Clean facilities and it's not uncommon to see weddings and reunions on the weekends. The park stays open during events which is nice. Great place to walk dogs- trash cans placed all around the park. The pavilion/picnic area is kind of separate and dog-free. Couldn't ask for much more in a park. A bigger and better beach area would be nice, but the focus here is on the woods and art. read more

GORGEOUS is what comes to mind when I think about this park..so sorry we got there at 4pm, one hour before they closed the coffee shop...(winter hours) but I plan to return , maybe sooner than later .How pretty is the lake and all the grounds are kept so nice..I was expecting after reading the details about the park to just find a place to get a cup of coffee and warm up...what a shocker to find such a Gorgeous buliding , art work and a full fledged coffee shop espresso , latte's and the works, even Chai Tea and bakery goodies.We sat around the beautiful fireplace , drank our coffee's and then walked the "Ginger girl" a bit and then regretted we had to depart so soon.Next time we are making an afternoon of it ...did I mention we loved it and thought it was GORGEOUS :) read more

We held a wedding there in 2014 and really enjoyed the space and natural settings of the park. However, we were told there would be staff to assist with changing the hall from ceremony to reception and that never really happened. The staff spent more time spying on us and telling us what we couldn't do, even after we received approval, then actually assisting us in setting up. The changing rooms keys were not entrusted to us which made using the cramped bridal room difficult to access. Garbage was supposed to be removed by the staff but we had to find our own people to take care of that. Toilet paper was not refilled and that was a big problem towards the end of the night. Overall, there were so many regulation we had to follow in order to use the facility yet they did little to follow through with giving us any assistance. I'm not sure if all of the drama and expense was worth it just to use the lovely space. read more
