AVOID AT ALL COSTS - I have contacted the company about resolving our issues privately several times and have been ignored so I am now posting our review to help others avoid making the mistake of using this company.
We unfortunately had some pretty serious issues with the two taxis that we booked. We ordered two six seater MPVs a few months in advance, with full disclosure that these vehicles would be carrying bridesmaids and the immediate family (Mother of the Bride/Groom etc) on the morning of our wedding. When the vehicles arrived on the day, they were actually standard five seated vehicles with the fold out rear seats in the boot. As you can imagine, this was not suitable for bridesmaids as they had to climb into the boot in their full length, non-creased satin dresses and heels. We actually couldn't fit two in the back and the Mother of the Bride had to get in our photographer's car as she couldn't fit in the car provided.
Our other issue on the outbound journey was that the two MPVs that we hired both to arrive at the same time actually turned out to be ONE vehicle that did a return trip to collect the second load of people. This meant that the first vehicle turned up at 12.45pm (half an hour earlier than the booking time) and then continued to ring my mobile several times and repeatedly beeped his horn to get our attention. The cottages where they collected us are actually in a livery yard and fully functioning stables and the owners were not happy about this at all. At this point in time, I was actually in the middle of putting my wedding dress on so did not have my mobile on me. The guests due to go in this taxi were also still being photographed and finishing getting ready as they were not due to leave for another 30 minutes.
As you can imagine, timing is extremely important on a wedding day and whilst being early is great, it's expected of the driver to wait if they arrive earlier than scheduled. If the driver arrived early because he knew he was the only taxi, that is not our issue and amends should have been made prior to the day based on the importance of the event. We booked Silvertown Taxis based on your service promised online and we really didn't expect this type of service on our wedding day. The guests in this taxi commented on how dangerous the person's driving was too which isn't acceptable when carrying any guests that they're then responsible for. If the driver had their foot down based on them knowing they needed to complete the second trip, this is again not our problem as we paid a lot of money for TWO MPVs to arrive at the same time.
On our return trip that evening, neither of the MPVs arrived on time. My husband and I were the last people to leave the venue that evening and found our family all waiting outside. I made a phonecall to your office at 00.30 to ask where the taxis were and was informed that one was 5 minutes away and another was coming down the venue's driveway as we spoke. We waited around for this taxi and it didn't arrive until almost 15 minutes later. After we left the venue, I then asked the family if the other taxi had arrived and there was still no sign. I called your office again at 00.45 to ask about it and the person on the other phone responded with 'Really?!' when I stated that it hadn't arrived and then 'oh my days' after checking where it was. This meant that our family did not get back to the cottages until almost 1.15am. The taxis arrived over 20 minutes later than they should have done. When in the taxis, one driver also had no idea where they were going and attempted to take the guests down the wrong end of Sandhole Lane and into the muddy path. They had to then follow instructions from the passengers and then when they reached the top of the road, they stopped as though to let the passengers out to walk down the road to the cottages. They had to be asked to continue to the cottages, which is unacceptable as most of the passengers in the car are over the age of 70 and find it difficult to walk. read more
