I've stayed at Smith Creek Village in their woodland cabins several times, and have always had a wonderful experience. The folks who manage bookings are always friendly and communicative, and make an effort answer all of our questions prior to arrival. Be sure you have a clear understanding of check-in procedure because cell phone service will likely be limited or unavailable. There were no staff available both times I arrived to pick up my keys, so I appreciated having everything squared away ahead of time. Smith Creek Village is a remote area on the edge of Silver Falls State Park. It is a romantic, densely wooded enclave that is often enshrouded in fog during the fall and winter. I've visited in the spring and summer, but staying during the winter months is my favorite because it feels like you are at the edge of the universe. The solitude and relaxation are appreciated after a stressful week of work. Smith Creek Village has a variety of housing options, so be sure to check out their website to see if they have any accomodations that will suit your needs. I've chosed to stay in their one-room cabins each time I've visited. There is a sink and toilet in the cabin, but showers and dressing rooms are a just a quick walk away in a communal bathhouse. The Big Leaf Coffeehouse was a fantastic lodge style restaurant located near the main parking area where guests pick up their welcome packages, however as of October 2024 it seems to have closed "indefinitely." This has happened a number of times through the years, so I can't imagine it's a permanent closure. It really is a necessary amenity because many of the accomodations don't have kitchens. Silver Falls State Park is a beautiful destination not far from Portland. Be sure to check out Silverton, and some of the other attractions in the area if you are visiting from out of town. This is a review for the Big Leaf Coffeehouse and Grill which I don't think is listed separately on Yelp. My brother, who lives on the edge of the park, and I, who lives across the country, had breakfast and coffee two mornings in mid-April. It was quiet but lovely. The breakfasts were very good. On one visit we had the "elder special" which was tasty and very inexpensive. The next visit we chose other breakfast plates. We enjoyed all the options. Coffee was good and I loved my lattes. The ambiance, both inside and out, was lovely. What a wonder park and cozy building. The fireplace was just magnificent. The young man who wore multiple hats at the counter and serving and stoking the fire was incredibly friendly and efficient. We had a wonderful visit. 4 stars for the food and 5 stars for the service and ambiance. read more

I wouldn't call this glamping by any means. We checked in around 4 after hiking all day. There is one shower for each gender for all the tiny cabins to use and the door doesn't lock. It is quite secluded, so I showered as quickly as I could because it felt a bit like the start to a horror movie. Then we were ready to hang by the fire and have something to eat. The small store sells grab and go food, but everything has to be reheated. There wasn't a single place to heat food. It had rained recently, so we had no luck starting a fire (which was our only cooking option) and again, a shared space among all of the tiny cabins. Ours had one chair outside and not even a place to set up our camp stove. The shared lodge area had a bunch of board games, but most were missing pieces. Overall, I'd stick to Silver Falls State Park. This just wasn't worth the price jump in any way. read more

What an interesting place. The cabin is tiny, hence the name. It has a coffee, tiny fridge, toilet room and sink. Showers are in the lower building. Just a little bit of a walk up from the jeep but we are in the middle of the forest. These are hotel service tiny cabins with towels, hot water (tiny water heater), bed with sheets and blankets and pillows. There is no WiFi in the upper tiny cabins area but they are working on it. It's not your state park cabin. It's almost a full hotel room in the woods. The attraction is not the cabins, it's the park. The upper tiny cabins are in the forest just a few steps away from smith creek trail. Take a map with you and water. You are walking into the backwoods. I'm here for the mountain biking. Three days two night of good trails. Food? There are two grills in the park. Big Leaf Coffeehouse and Grill, and South Falls Cafe in the day use area near, you guessed it, south falls. Big Leaf is open for breakfast and lunch on Weekdays but also dinner on weekends. In the morning I get steak and eggs and roasted reds. At at south falls I get the hamburger with sweet potato fries. These places do well for such the seasonal, weather dependent crowds. They both have a small beer and wine collection. Many local brands. read more

Took my wife, mother in law and extended family to the Mother's Day brunch and I will never make that mistake again. I was going to say it was about the same as a complimentary continental breakfast at a reasonably priced hotel but that would be a disservice to the hotel, because at least at the hotel you can get a fresh waffle. And it was $350 for 7 of us. That's right $350. There were no Mother's Day decorations, no mimosas (unless you wanted to pay extra) and the food was in the metal containers you see here. They couldn't have more blatantly stolen my money with a gun. Don't waste your money. Go to Dennys. The food is better and less than haft the price. read more

I want to give this four stars but I can't because the most important thing to me during a stay anywhere is how accommodating they are when it comes to food... And silverfalls lodge made obtaining food quiet an obstacle. Let me start from the top - Finding it was easy enough but remember you're in the middle of nowhere so cell phone reception is nonexistent....maybe AT&T will get you a few bars ..otherwise you're shit out of luck. So take a screen shot of a map in case you get lost. Parking is plenty. Check in at a small stand on the side. Thy close at 10pm so if your flight is delayed and you can't make it by then...suggest coming in the next morning or you won't be able to get in. Cabins are plenty and plenty spacious. I came in expecting to sleep on the floor and going pee in the outhouse so I was very pleased with the classic cabin in the woods feel. Each lodge has approx 6bedrooms and two shared communal bathrooms. One for boys and one for girls. Each room has two twin beds and a small hanging closet. There is no air conditioning but there is a window that you can open for a nice breeze. The doors lock automatically but you can unlock it by having the key In Place and turning the knob. The communal living room is big with a couch, dining table, a mini fridge, a coffee maker but no filters or coffee except the prepackaged coffee which wasn't enough. There was also a large TV but we couldn't figure out how to work it. There is no kitchen and no microwave. Also a swimming pool so bring a swimming suit. Now onto the food situation which was really what tanked this review for this lodge. You have to pre purchase it before hand and its 26$ for dinner. I did not think their food was worth that price. Also you have to have meal tickets or they won't let you come in. Lunch is a box lunch and I think approx 11-15$ I can't remember. The problem with lunch was it was first come first serve so some people who paid but didn't make it back in time didn't get lunch. Nope they were not given refunds. Breakfast was 11-15$ also can't recall. It started at different times depending on the day so Read your ticket card carefully. Because it was so Confusing a lot of people missed breakfast and was granted an Additional meal Card... Still...I think that they were too stringent in the meal plans and this was a hinderance to most people as they could not hike or do their extracurricular Activity as they were worried about making it back for food!!! Now the food issue wouldn't be a big deal except that you were in the middle of nowhere and it was almost impossible to find something nearby except for the Deli and cafe place 20mins drive into the nearest town. I came here for a wedding and so I will also Comment on the food provided for that event. This was surprisingly delicious. The appetizers were crap dip, cheese slices, salami, meatballs, crackers, and bread. The brisket melted in your mouth, the mushroom ravioli was lightly covered in a rich cream Sauce. Salad and vinegrette was also tasty. Service was swift....as in they were quick to refill As this is all self service and buffet style. I would say it was a lovely place but their strict meal Plan policy needs some work at being more lenient. As is the convenience of making food easily accessible. Or if you can't then provide us with a kitchen/stove/oven/and or microwave so We're not starving for the weekend after a long hike at silverfalls state park. read more

Took my mother to meet friends for brunch and it was lovely. Completely wheelchair/ ADA accessible, delicious food, generous portions, yummy lattes, super lovely staff and the atmosphere was so relaxing. 3 hrs later we reluctantly pulled ourselves away from the restaurant to walk the grounds. Great place for a "no reason" brunch or even a celebratory brunch (e.g. promotion, Mother's Day). Absolutely worth the drive and will for sure be back! read more

First I will address our safety concerns. I am disabled and so when reading reviews and their website we had accommodation questions. My hubby called the day before and the day of before we booked . They never returned any of our calls so we could find out the deets to book if everything was to our satisfaction. They had one small cabin left on site. So we booked it. We were assigned tiny cabin C. A cabin that you have to hike up to on a steep incline on a unpaved slippery gravel surface. In the website it states, a short walk to the cabin. They mention nothing about how luggage should be moved back and forth. Found out later their are little green wheelbarrows that you are supossed to fill then drop at top of hill then come back down while walking on very slippery gravel. None of this was mentioned. Said that property had wifi. Yeah not unless your right next to the office. Then it's still a gamble as to whether your going to get a signal. The trail going up and down on a steep incline. It is only lit till around 9pm because our path light turned off then as we were trying to make it back to our room In the pitch dark. They leave a little itty bitty lantern but good luck seeing with that. Couldn't see with that at all. So the cabin is cute but older. Well taken care of. I heard that these used to be for the girl scouts these tiny cabins back in the 30s. Cabin C bad things. Cabin is not accessible to disabled wheelchairs it is gravel and has steps going onto the porch of cabin c. There is no shower included in room and it is located in a community shower at campground around corner No TV No clock No radio No refrigerator No microwave No phone No closet No where to hang a coat or hoodie 1 luggage rack The restaurant only stays open till 5.00pm at present so don't plan on dinner here unless you get to go or eat early. There were 7 windows in a 300sqft room 2 didn't have screens so no cross breeze there No A C/ there is a small heater about the size of a lunchbox in wall. There was used tissue packed into the wall outlet right next to the wires for the sink light above. My father in law was a fire captain and just wow! My husband was an electrician and he said, wow! Under the sink dirty smelly moldy towels that apparently were there for a leak smelt horrible. The cabin is so small and there is 2 vanity drawers and under sink storage. We couldn't use it because of mold. They have coffee makers in the room single kpod makers. The water from the tap tasted something rusty and moldy. We had to put the coffee maker next to the door on the floor where the plug was just to try to make a cup of coffee. We brought bottled water. The vanity had a outlet on other side but no where to set coffee maker on counter. Good thing I brought a box fan cause we needed that. It is hot at night in the tiny cabin and the heater wasn't on. We booked for 2 nights stayed one. The bathroom floor also hadn't been mopped and was really dirty. The bed in cabin c no bueno. Hard as a rock and moves a lot. Worst bed ever. Good things This area is so beautiful that being unhooked is okay! Please let your website media manager let people know what is up with the WiFi better so those that may have to keep track of loved ones can. If there was an emergency it would be spotty if even work to call 911 or even the ranger. The staff what little we met because we arrived after 4:00pm were already gone for the day. The one lady we met told us about our check in and where our keys and map to get to cabins is There were k pods of a local coffee nice! If you can brew them. My husband went to purchase coffee at the restaurant and started talking to the girl there and she got involved and called on her reservations manager to come talk with him. After much apologizing they told us they would refund our money and we didn't even ask. That was very nice and I really appreciate that. What I would really like to see is more disabled accessibility. Maybe pave the gravel and even out the steps that lean. Make sure their are working lights on paths. As my hubby and I were leaving a mom and dad were going for a bike ride and the little boy rode a little forward and tried to stop but because it's gravel brakes slide and boop right down the other side about 10 feet down. There is a meeting room and a banquet hall there behind cabin c. The fire pit and picnic table are there and free wood. If you want a fire you'll have to hunt up kindling and fire starter fluid. Bring sunblock and tons of insect repellent. If you are a younger or older physically fit individual then you hopefully will be able to ambulate around gloriously. If you are disabled or can't balance well this isn't your place Beautiful Beautiful sweet caring workers there though. Thanks you for all that you did do to correct our stay which meant a refund and a apology for not calling us back. I really wished this could of worked out better for us. The staff at Smith Creek Falls are fantastic! Not only are they courteous and kind they went out of their way on multiple occasions for the wedding I was coordinating on site including jumping in to help set tables when catering staff was unexpectedly delayed. I didn't have the opportunity to stay on-site this time around but was impressed with the accommodations and think it would be a great spot to return with a group or even for a quite couples getaway. If your goal is lots of time enjoying the beauty of the outdoors and "getting away from it all," I highly l recommend taking a look at Smith Creek Village. Have not stayed there yet but had dinner at Big Leaf Coffeehouse and Grill which is on premises. Second week of offering dinner on weekends so not many diners but food was excellent especially Ribeye with Gorgonzola butter. Serving staff was extremely friendly and chef came out to check on us as well. Menu is not expansive but items reasonably priced for location. Walked there from campground. Only stayed in park one night to hike Trail of Ten Falls but would definitely eat there again. Everyone visiting Silver Falls State Park should give this place a try. Open daily for breakfast and lunch as well as dinner on Friday through Sunday. read more

My wife and I chose Silver Falls because the cabins looked like a great place to disconnect from technology and have a little romantic getaway. One of the first things you may notice is there is no cell reception after entering the park...so if your goal is to disconnect they've got you "not-covered" so to speak. We arrived after 6pm so it was a late check-in and the dining hall was closed (we didn't know that was the only place to eat for about 20 miles) but we got Kaulana on the after hours phone at the registration booth and he graciously made us a fantastic dinner. We enjoyed chatting with him and learning about the park and it's many attractions. That weekend was the 42nd annual Christmas bazaar they had so much fun family stuff we wished we had brought our kids. The waterfall is a very convenient hike and the rooms have a cozy rustic appeal. From the quaint little cabins to the FANTASTIC food, we had a wonderful stay at Silver Falls Lodge. The cabins are the perfect amount of Glamping. Warm dry space to walk barefoot, a private toilet and sink, plenty of light and power for today's technology addicts. It might mean spending some money on a quick remodel, but I wish there were more cabins with double beds. Although it was fun to snuggle up together in a twin for 1 night, I would not want to do that for more than a couple days. So, makes sure to reserve your cabin early to get one with a double bed. We were late. OK, now to the food. It is an extra step to make reservations for dining in the hall but it is worth it.It is ABSOLUTLEY clear, that the team in the kitchen loves what they do. Although it is buffet style, it is by no means buffet food. Brussels Sprouts in a red wine vinaigrette reduction sauce! Really?, Vegan Shepard's Pie, Tiramisu with the coffee soaked in the bottom layer. Dinner was not lodge food. Breakfast was just as good, at least for a buffet. With out having a dedicated egg station, they tried to provide good over medium eggs, fresh yogurt, fruit and the best of all...Real rolled oats oatmeal. Loved it. Enjoying my stay at Silver Falls Lodge. We are in cabin 25. The cabin is very comfortable and the staff is very nice. Firewood is provided during the stay. The coffee maker and the room is nice but I would have preferred a drip coffee maker. The heaters work well and there are plenty of outlets. It's nice that the linens are provided and they will refresh them for you during the stay. The lodge offers a nice open space to sit down and have a meal or play games. It would be even better if you had access to their cooking equipment since it tends to be a rainy in the Northwest and cooking over a fire isn't always optional. You cannot use your camping cooking equipment next to the cabins so either pack drygoods are prepared to get wet if it's in the rainy season. I definitely plan on coming back. read more

Amazing, beautiful remote area with great little rooms. Very friendly staff. The silver falls hikes were incredible!! A must do for couples or a family. We took our 3 1/2 year old with us on the hike with our stroller and it was a little tuff buy manageable. If recommend using a BOB stroller with the big off road wheels. I wanted to give some feedback to the two front receptionist. Mark and Lexi were very friendly and super helpful. Quick Review: I would not recommend this venue unless you are paying for a full wedding planner who can deal with the venue when they don't respond. If you do book this venue because of the beautiful location make sure you stay on top of them with your emails and phone calls. Detailed Review: Let's start with the positives: The venue is beautiful, if you want an outdoor wedding and reception this was perfect. If you love Silver Falls you will be able to go and take wedding photos at the falls this is a good venue for that. Their catering was good. The rooms were decent for cabins and it was really fun to hang out around the campfire with our closest friends and family after the reception wrapped up. Now onto the cons: You have to pay for a certain number of rooms for the night of the wedding. The coordination of the cabins was a nightmare, you have to assign each one before people can call can reserve their rooms, or you have to put them on a purchase and have them pay you. With everything else going on with planning a wedding this was a lot more to juggle, though from our experience doing everything on the purchase was easier as long as you trust that your guests will pay you or you are ok covering the cost. I said the food was good, but I was disappointed with how the price increased from when we were quoted to when we had to finalize everything for our wedding. Over all they added more options, but it was just more added cost only 1-2 months before the wedding. Also they only have beer and wine, not really a con for us but might be for some. The soda's are included in the bar tab and they will try to get you to do "bottomless beverages" for the non alcoholic which is like punch, iced tea and virgin mojito, unless you know your guests will really drink this go with a by consumption amount for these, it cost us about half of what they would have charged us as the bottomless (reception of less than 90 people) The communication was great during the quote process, they got back to us quickly and answered questions promptly. This quickly fell off after we signed our paperwork. For our 6 month meeting they had changed up coordinators and it took emailing the general info email to get someone to schedule it with us. At this meeting we were told that the "day of coordinator" was really a "catering coordinator" (heads up I see a few places on the internet that still say they provide a day of coordinator they DO NOT). Things seemed ok at this point, but they changed up the coordinators again before the 2 month meeting. These two meetings were essentially repeats of each other and after the 2 month meeting it took a month for them to send us the updated estimate with the new catering prices. This left us about 4 weeks to work out all the kinks, which probably would have been fine if they had responded to our first email promptly but it took a week and a half to answer our email and that was after calling and emailing the main info email which got the attention of someone higher up. We were still trying to get everything nailed down the day before we had to pay (2 weeks prior to the wedding). Because of all this hassle we did get the dance floor comped and the original quoted price for our sparkling toast ($4 a glass vs $6... more on that later). They also gave us some banquet tables for the bridal party instead of the picnic tables. I did find out from some of my friends turned decorators that they banquet table for the bridal party and +1s didn't have chairs until they asked, and when I arrived there were only 10 chairs when I specifically asked for 14 during the finalization phase and they said that wouldn't be a problem. The hand passed sparkling toasts were really disappointing, like maybe a ¼ to 1/2 of a glass full (1-3 sips maybe) for each glass (these they are charging $4 a glass for...) I was also disappointed that they started cleaning everything up rather early it was only like 8-9 pm so they were cleaning up more than an hour before the end of their service. A few little other irksome things: getting ready room was underwhelming, they provided little hand mirrors and one large mirror, but my bridesmaids used the bathroom for most of their final touches. There was no getting ready space for the boys until 1 pm. We were unable to do a rehearsal onsite until the day of. Overview: Overall this was a beautiful venue, the food was good and the catering staff was nice, some even joined in the dancing. We were very underwhelmed by the "venue coordination" and only saw our coordinator a handful of times all day, which really made us wonder where she was and what she was doing when we would get her "there's an event today, I'll get back to you as soon as I can" auto replies. As I said at the beginning, I wouldn't recommend this because of the poor venue coordination and all the hassle we had dealing with them, but our wedding was beautiful and overall everything worked out. read more

I would give more stars because the venue is great and the chef and Steven the new wedding coordinator are amazing but I cannot get passed how absolutely rude the staff was at our wedding and the fact that the coordinator I worked with for almost a year was the worst I have ever experienced. From not showing up to meetings to arguing about chairs and then acting like doing her job was doing us a favor. Like I said the venue was great and not all of it was bad but do not call yourself a coordinator if day of you tell us you are only in charge of catering. We stayed in the Calypso Cabin. It is cozy, comfortable, adorable, and well furnished with all necessities. There is a separate, private bedroom and two spacious, comfortable daybeds in the living room, along with a large screen television. The bathroom is amazing. There is a full kitchen with room to cook. A wood stove provides an extra level of coziness. Plenty of wood for a fire inside or outside is provided. The staff is outstanding, friendly, and helpful. Everyone we interacted with was very accommodating. We were there mid-week and the atmosphere of the entire complex was peaceful and relaxing. There are trails to walk around the immediate area and an assortment of bicycles available for the use of the guests. It is a very short drive to the Falls. I highly recommend a get-a-way at this lovely lodge. read more

I am beyond impressed with this place! From the very friendly staff to the incredible buffet dinner and breakfast Silverfalls lodge did not disappoint! They have horse shoe pits, beautiful trails and books or games to borrow. The upper creek cabins we nice and clean and there was always wood stocked at the fire pits. Shower house was also very clean and welcoming. If you stay at the upper creek cabins be prepared for a little hike up to your cabin. Our four-day reunion in this rustic yet comfortable forest setting was enhanced by friendly and accommodating staff. Having our food prepared in the Lodge allowed us to spend more quality time together in the spacious meeting hall and around the outdoor campfire. This place has beautiful grounds and the staff are friendly, and accommodating. We asked about gluten free and veggie options before going and they made us feel like it was no problem and had options prepared for us when we arrived for meals in the dining hall. Meal prices are reasonable (not cheap; but include drinks and at dinner - dessert so I think it is totally worth the price). The drip coffee included in the breakfast was Boyds, and I'd rate it a B on a A-F scale. The cabins are rustic...we had #4, three twins w/ a sink and toilet and it was great - comfy mattresses, the room was clean and we had plenty of extra blankets and towels. There is a swimming pool, volleyball nets, bicycles available to borrow, other game areas, and lots of trails around to explore. It is a great place for families, and is nice if you really want to go hike and explore the trails and you don't want to prepare all the camping gear and meals that go along with tent camping. Waterfall #10 or Upper North has a pool at the bottom for a quick (and freezing but worth it) dip. I will definitely visit again. read more

Grounds are beautiful with very nice hikes. I liked the falls and the park is great for families. We stayed the night in one of cabins. While the room was clean although I was not impressed. 1. No food available unless you plan way ahead and order from the park. The room did not have a refrigerator or microwave so bringing food was limited. The coffee maker was a small pod unit. The closest restaurant is about 18 miles away. 2. They said it had a TV but it did not work. Unless you had Netflix, roku or other accounts it did not provide normal TV viewing options. There were a couple of movies that you could play if they appealed to you. 3. The wifi was so slow and poor it was wothless. 4. There is no cell coverage. read more

What a great place! It was our 48th anniversary and the experience was everything we hoped it would be. The staff even gave us a wonderful gift basket for the occasion. We stayed in the Upper Smith Creek cabins, a small cabin tucked right in the middle of a beautiful forest. Sitting on the porch in the evening was so tranquil, and waking up to the sun filtering between the trees was invigorating. The meals in the quaint lodge were great, the staff was helpful and knowledgeable, they even called us a week before our stay to arrange meals. Our families were blown away by the beauty of the venue as well as the park itself. Beautiful grounds! The facilities are very well maintained and the perfect location for a wedding.

Beautiful area with cabins nestled in the trees and built to blend in with their surroundings. Cabins vary in size and amenities. Stayed in a small cabin -- Chickaree--which was plenty big for the two of us. Bathroom stocked with nice towels, shampoo, hair dryer, coffee and coffee maker. Short walk to the dining room. Large lawn area has games available such as bocce and other lawn games. Dining was truly a treat at the lodge dining room. Jason, the chef, prepared and served an excellent dinner for my spouse and I, as we were the only two dining that evening. Food was wonderful and we appreciated the friendly and caring service. Had dinner the next night also and although there were more diners that evening, and Jason again prepared an excellent dinner--both meals were delightful. I highly recommend dining at the lodge. The park itself is quite spectacular--waterfalls, rain forest with huge trees and ferns, great trails. We divided the falls trails into two loops over two days and enjoyed both days of hiking. There are several historic buildings near the South Falls area, and a cafe at the beginning (or end) of the trail into the canyon--a great place to stop for a cold beer or other drink after hiking up from the canyon. This is a gem of a park and a wonderful lodge--we certainly plan to visit again! read more

We stayed here for two nights in the Upper Smith Creek Cabins and I could not be more pleased with our stay. I had quite a few questions about the cabins and lodge overall prior to booking and the staff could not have been more accommodating and helpful. I spoke with several people who all were very polite and knowledgeable. The cabin was small (as expected) but clean and just what we were hoping for. We enjoyed sitting out on the porch and enjoying the view as well as using the nearby firepits. Everything was very well taken care of and maintained. We went for a small hike from our cabin but did have to drive down to go do the silver falls hike which was not walk-able from where we were staying. That was honestly the only small disappointment. I would love to come back with friends and family and highly recommend staying here! read more

We stayed in the Calypso cabin for two nights, as part of our son's Make-A-Wish road trip to Oregon, and we were in heaven!! The cabin was adorable and would be great for a honeymoon in the forest! We could easily walk to the dining hall for delicious meals, and the staff was over-the-top amazing. Friendly, kind, and accommodating! It was easy to wake up and hit the trails, and still have time to shower and make it to dinner! To make the wish trip even more special, they had a huge welcome tub full of gifts, plus let us pick out some items for our boys from the gift shop. It was by far one of my favorite places I've ever stayed. read more

Just had their fathers day meal. Fewer selections than they had in the past and the quality was severely lacking for the price. All the meat selections were overcooked and dry. We have been regular customers over the years for holiday meals , but understand the food is being done by different people now. Overpriced for the quality and probably won't be back. Only positive was the desserts were ok. read more

Silver Falls Conference Center is now run by a concessionaire. I have attended a retreat at the SFLCC almost every year for the past 8 years, and this year was the first where most of the food was literally inedible. A friend with 20 years Army experience said it was worse than any she had in her military career. The kitchen now sports a screen in front of the commercial stove, indicating they don't plan on using the stove ever again to prepare meals. The lodge was clean and all the staff was very friendly except for the guy in the kitchen who offered my vegetarian friend a chicken burger as an option to the beef hamburger. If you don't know that chicken is not vegetarian friendly, then should you really be working in the kitchen? My gluten free boxed lunch (which was $15!) consisted of a box of lettuce, a packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing (which is not gf, btw), and a bag of Lay's potato chips. Whomever wrote the previous review that said the food was delicious was either paid or else they reserve different, better tasting food for their wedding events. To make matters worse, we scheduled an event for next year, and the prices are being raised significantly. In addition, I witnessed an employee telling her manager that she had already clocked out, but she wanted to make sure the guests had towels, so she was going to put that extra 20 minutes in on her own time, and the manager thanked the employee while letting her work for free (labor law violation anyone?) The venue is undoubtedly amazing. It is too bad the state of Oregon handed over the management reins to a for profit company from California. read more
