We didn't eat all day. Stopped in for something quick to eat. I really like this place but I wish they had more vegan options. I love their spaghetti but I feel like I always get the same thing when I am there. I go there more than I place a review. For meat eaters, this place doesn't disappoint...so I am told. My husband and I stopped here for dinner and we were overwhelmed with the menu! (A super good overwhelmed) there were so many amazing choices, and our waitress was so nice! I decided on the chicken quesadilla (and it was HUGE!) I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow! My husband got biscuits and gravy, with potatoes and eggs. Oh, I almost forgot - we also got cheesesteak egg rolls and fried Mac and cheese! So delicious! There aren't many diners around anymore, and this give you all the old school amazing diner vibes. Silver Coin Diner is an old-fashioned diner located in Hammonton, NJ on the White Horse Pike, across the street from Walmart and adjacent to ShopRite. The diner has been around for a few decades, and it's been around far longer than I've been alive. One of the most iconic and authentic establishments in town, Silver Coin has been and continues to be the meeting ground for many of my family gatherings and outings with friends/coworkers. It's very easy to find family and friends here, since this is probably the #1 hangout for Hammontonians outside any given location in town. The food is amazing, the portions are huge, and they bring it to the table within minutes! They are very accommodating with their menu selections and they have some of the best customer service I've ever seen at an eating establishment, which definitely enhances it's atmosphere and makes it easier to come back. Silver Coin is always hopping, even early in the morning and especially on the weekends, which sometimes makes parking a hassle. Due to it's extreme popularity, they may run out of items quickly, such as desserts. Went here for a few late-night dinners and lunches over the past two years, and it was fairly nice. The waitresses for the night staff are usually very friendly, but the ones that work the day shift seem a bit more aloof in comparison. Even with picky eaters, everyone found something they enjoyed, and the food was decently made. Definitely not speedy, but nothing really to complain on for that aspect of things; it gave us time to relax and talk over milkshakes. My only disappointment and complaint is for the veggie burgers... which are actually just fried broccoli patties on a bun. I was expecting something more with beans, onions; a bit more creativity and better texture would've been nice. No one wants a squishy burger, no matter what type of ingredients it's made from. Still a good place for a quick lunch though when money is tight, and the atmosphere is always more on the peaceful side. read more

We had a less than satisfactory lunch experience here on Saturday May 15th. While the restaurant was undeniably busy and it seemed the wait staff overwhelmed. The food was mediocre. I had a corned beef sandwich and the portion was very skimpy. My wife had the "Thanksgiving Turkey Sandwich" which was cold as were as both of our french fries. Had the Monte Cristo ($9.28) which came with a complimentary soup of the day and fries,which I subbed with sweet potato fries. The chicken soup was nothing to craze over. Tasted like a can of Campbell chicken noodle soup. Bit on the saltier side for my taste. However, my Monte Cristo and fries were excellent. The french toasts for my Monte Cristo were nice and crispy on the outside and mega fluffy on the inside. Also a heads up, don't let the fries sit there for too long as they will lose their crispiness. Still good, regardless, being a sweet potato fiend that I am. Overall, a great diner to enjoy Sunday brunch with family and friends. My experience was fairly pleasant, however not everyone at my table would agree. Would I come by again? Probably only if I'm conveniently in the area and craving french toast, otherwise you can probably get a similar experience at another diner. read more

Chicken Gyro is awful! Minimal amount of unseasoned grilled chicken placed on pita and LOADED with lettuce and onion to make it look like much more than it is. Even stingy with the sauce. I left a bad review many years ago and I don't know why I would go again. Their prices are also getting ridiculous for what you get. $37. For two lettuce and tomato sandwiches disguised as chicken gyro and two measly slices of pie. WHAT!! $37. And the place is packed?? The Coin has above average diner food. In fact, it's probably some of the best damn diner food around. (And I'm not just saying that because I grew up going to the Coin.) As is standard with diner fare, one can never go wrong with breakfast. The waffle comes with fresh blueberries--none of that blueberry goo you find at IHOP--and the over-easy eggs are cooked to perfection. How's the scrapple, you ask? It's actually not bad. What?!!! Desserts are also a no-brainer at this place. Can't go wrong with diner pie! Anyway, the place is clean and prices reasonable (cheap!). Food quality is consistent (I stop by about once or twice a year now, and it's just as good as it was ten years ago). Service is friendly and quick. There's even one waitress who is still working here after, god, twenty years or so! That's saying something 'bout the place, huh? Went today for a dinner with family, had house open turkey with a small Lump of stuffing and a think gravy. What really irked me was the "mashed" potatoes were or had to be boxed and needed to be served in its own bowl otherwise it would not stay together. Very bland and gravy was something on top. I am giving this diner one star only because the waitress was excellent. My ale battered cod (which was advertised as quickly fried) was a big glob of greasy and burned flour. The child's hot dog platter consisted of two hot dogs on a torpedo roll. Children cannot eat torpedo rolls. Young children cannot eat this bread. Never have I seen a child's hot dog on anything other than a hot dog bun. The chicken wrap was all filled with grease. I didn't make a scene only because the waitress was so kind, but did mention my dissatisfaction to the cashier. Last night's dining experience was one-star worthy, but I've been here before and had a decent time, so I balanced the review with three stars. I ordered a Cobb salad without the chicken or bacon. It comes with egg, so that was my protein for dinner. The salad comes with three cheese choices, so I picked the blue cheese. My fiancé ordered a cheesesteak and asked to substitute sweet potato fries. The waitress came back to ask what cheese I wanted. I repeated blue cheese, and she said "okay, blue cheese as well." As well? What does that mean? I realized she thought I ordered blue cheese dressing originally, when I was just choosing my cheese and hoping for the dressing that comes standard on the salad. Not a big deal at all, I knew I'd just have to get a new dressing when the food came out. So I explained the confusion once the food was served, and she went back to get a side of vinaigrette. Then my fiancé realizes he received normal fries. Again, no big deal, but we already had to send her back once and we don't want to be those people. So he tells her he ordered sweet potato fries, and here is the big deal... She took his plate away. I have had this happen countless times with the whole fry thing, and it's NEVER an issue. "Oh sorry, brb!" And they return with the correct fries. Never in my life has a server taken the entire plate of food away. So now I don't want to start eating, and he has nothing to eat while he waits. And, I try not to think of human beings as being bad at their core, but who know what they did to his food?! I am just so confused as to why she took the plate back. It's not like they can re-serve the normal fries! Anyway, I then realized I didn't get my egg in my salad, so I paid $10 for lettuce and avocado. I wasn't going to dare send food back a third time. We still left 20% tip because I don't know whose fault any of this was, but really, none of these things would have been an issue if not for taking the plate back. SO WEIRD! I probably won't go here again, which is a shame because it's a nice midway point between my parents and me. read more

I have yet to have a bad meal and have always been pleased with the service. This past weekend my girlfriend and I came here for breakast. Even though they were busy, the eggs were fresh, hashbrowns were crispy, coffee was topped off, and our waitress couldn't have been nicer. We had a diner bar spot and had good views of the chaos, some hard workers and other servers hardly working. The food is typical Jersey diner and here there's nothing special about it. I had eggs and wife had an omelette, not awful but not special in any way either. The home fries were not home fries, they were just greasy fried potatoes (that's it) and were among the worst ever tasted.
