It was never a real priority for us though. Then one day, a woman using the name "Laurie" (spelled L'oreal and Laure'l) came to our store pitching her sign and graphics services. The company has all the earmarks of a scam. The rep uses several spellings of her name, as well as several company names. I understand seeing two is typical for businesses with parent companies, but she had four that I can think of. And neither her business card or website list a physical address, though she said she had a store in the Quarry Shopping Center. Unfortunately, I didn't realize this immediately and we made the decision to have her replace our artwork. We decided on simple letter decals to spell our business name and list bullet points below that outline our services. She was very pushy in trying to sell us more in terms of accompanying graphics, but we consistently declined. It took her 3-4 days to remove the previous artwork, which was longer than her initial estimate. We weren't in any kind of rush, but it's important to note that it took her so long because she was using a tiny razor blade. For a "professional," she had an amateur approach. She also used our Windex, our ladder and our towels. She obviously doesn't have any equipment or supplies of her own. She said she'd return on a Tuesday to clean the windows properly and let them cure prior to the application of the new decals, which was to take place the next day. Wednesday came and went, but the windows were not cleaned. We also noticed some oddities in her personality and in the things she'd say. For example, she knew what our owner looked like and claimed she'd spoken to him before she actually had. She also bypassed our counter staff and walked straight into our office without even knocking a couple of times. We found this both concerning and disrespectful. At this point, we started hoping she wouldn't come back as we were concerned about the quality of work she'd do. I told her not to begin applying anything until I see the new decals in person. I had not seen any proof after I submitted the desired wording and I wasn't sure how it was going to look. She returned to show me the decals, but I noticed some spelling and grammatical errors that weren't present in my request. However, she assured me she'd be able to correct the mistakes. She applied the decals on Friday evening (after hours and without cleaning the windows prior). When we reviewed the decals, the mistakes were still there, in addition to a couple more I hadn't noticed previously. I called her from our business line, only to hear a disconnected line. I tried this 5-6 times and then I decided to call from my personal phone and she answered! I'm guessing she had our business line blocked. Anyway, I explained that I found mistakes and said that she should've followed what I sent her verbatim. She then stated that I should not be speaking to her that way, asked me to be professional and then hung up on me. Apparently, hanging up on a customer is professional in her book. Surprisingly, she did call me back and I outlined the list of errors once more. Again, she stated she'd correct them. Concerned about her quality of work and the idea of having her back, I ultimately told her that we did not want to continue doing business with her. She said she didn't want to do business with us either and hung up on me again. Our business neighbor happens to sell signage and we later found out that she purchased the decals from him. He stated that she was supposed to have used a much larger razor to remove the previous artwork, as well as use a heat gun to apply the decals. He also said that he noticed the spelling errors, but she said that's how it should be. And he stayed out of it because it was her job. It wasn't a complete loss for us since she did spend a lot of time removing the previous window display. And the price seemed right for that, as it was a lot of physical work. And thankfully, because she didn't properly apply the stickers with a heat gun, the decals she applied came right off. Bottom line: I would never recommend using this "business" for anything.

FRAUDULENT BUSINESS PRACTICES…read more One of the most unprofessional people I've had the displeasure of working with. Not only did I not receive the item I paid for (a direct to garment printed t-shirt), when I inquired about a refund after not hearing from 'Laurie' for over a week, she told me she "doesn't give a rat's a**" what I think of her 'company'. Then proceeded with a litany of curses like a small child who's been found with their hand inside the cookie jar. She ended it by suggesting we've never done business in the first place, and continued to spew swear words. Karma will most certainly find its way to her, but until then, AVOID 'Laurie' at all costs.
