This business appears to have a main focus of running as many tests as possible and then billing MED and supplemental insurance for all it can and then passing on the remainder to the patient. My 90+ year old father went to have a general exam and asked that the results be forwarded to his GP. After the first visit, Progressive Vision Institute scheduled a 2nd appointment to run more tests. There was little to no explanation before or after either visit. When my father inquired about the results, what they showed, and why they weren't forwarded, the staff said he didn't fill out the paperwork and they made no effort to honor the request. The physician never did give a reasonable review of the results despite inquiries from my father. When I called to discuss the situation of the unwarranted testing and billing, I spoke to Tiffany in billing, who said she had no control and gave me the office manager's number. I called the office manager, Courtney, and had to leave a message. After no reply from Courtney, I called again and was discourteously told they could do nothing about it in their office and the bill had been passed on.
This is the problem with corporate health care. You are a dollar sign in their eyes and nothing more. But even worse was the lack of communication and care exhibited by the treating physician and staff.
My father went to a different ophthalmologist who very clearly discussed his assessment and findings. No major issues, no unnecessary additional testing was needed, and he has excellent eye health, that of someone at least two decades or more his junior.
I would like to give a zero rating to this business because they actually did harm by loading stress on my father and did no good, not even a review of the basic exam." read more
