I have been seeing Randy Calahan, NP for over a year now and have nothing but accolades for his treatment. I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes to see him. I have found the office staff to be just as courteous and always helpful. Some people need to understand that there is a difference between a "talk" therapist who will spend 30 - 50 minutes with you and a doctor or nurse practitioner qualified to prescribe meds. He doesn't seem to take into consideration the family's input about the reality of his patient's symptoms, make changes or ask questions. Terrible care for minors. They had a provider leave without notice which we were not informed. Then our insurance changed and was never given good faith estimates. The account was sent to collections and continued to ask for the good faith estimates. They never provided. Threatened to take me to court even though it was past the statute of limitations. All I asked for the proper documentation which they refuse to give me. read more

I have been coming to Dr. Sievert for quiet some time and never had any issues. Every appointment has been for the most part tele health. I understand Covid has been lifted and I do not mind coming in office although the other day i had a family emergency which i could not make it to my appointment. Front staff Victoria was so rude, very ill mannered, impolite with me and said "NO YOU HAVE TO COME IN DR SIEVERT DOES NOT CARE IF YOU HAD A DEATH IN THE FAMILY" i could not believe my ears. I called back and asked who I spoke, Receptionist Ashley said it was VICTORIA and she would let her manager know. I made it to my appt to get my medications renewed. I was very upset and lost my cool when I spoke with Dr. Sievert. The other two girls in front were so nice checking me out I forgot to ask to speak with manager. I have been going to Sievert's office since 2018 and because my mental health has been difficult to treat I have been passed back and forth between Barbara Woodward and the head honcho himself, Dr Sievert. Since me starting treatment here, the staff has been very callous and cold towards me and my caregivers. Not only that, but they have failed to find any treatment that works for me. I just visited Barbara last on 3/11/2024, the first time I've seen anyone in the office in person since the pandemic, and let me just say, I left my appointment livid. I have tried every antipsychotic and antidepressant under the sun, and nothing has worked and has given me severe side effects such as high blood pressure and Oculogyric crisis (basically eyes roll up uncontrollably for hours leaving me blind and in pain) so I had stopped taking the medication since 1.) I've been taking it for a year and it has done nothing to help me 2.) I was about to be sent to the hospital by my primary because of how high my blood pressure was. When I stopped my medication, it made my side effects almost completely stop. When I went in for my appointment, I told Barbara the things I was experiencing and how I couldn't take being on the pills anymore. I also asked for a disability placard since I can become blind at any moment (thanks to my antipsychotics that SHE prescribed me) and I need to be able to be close to my car in case it happens in public (which it has). She flat out refused to give me one. Why? Was it because she didn't think I needed one? No, it was because, in her words, I "didn't follow (her) instructions and thought I knew myself better than she did" so she won't give me one. I'm sorry I don't want to be blind for 5 hours and have a stroke from high blood pressure, Barbara! Next time I'll make sure I'm taking the medication that makes me physically ILL so that you can remain the boss and maintain your power over me! She did the same thing to me when I asked if she could refill the only medication that has helped me during my time here, my sleep aid. She then remained in a sarcastic mood throughout our whole appointment, asking me "since I know myself better than she did" what I would do to heal my sickness "since I'm the physician". On top of that, she even went as far as to make remarks on my looks, making comments that I "used to dress so cute, now I guess you're comfortable with your fiancé", insinuating that I let myself go. For someone that works with individuals who are sensitive and not in the right headspace, she really is a mean woman. She then prescribed me a medication that 'I haven't tried before' (yes I have, note that these people that work here do not keep track of their records of what medication has/hasn't worked so you will have to do that) and that was the end of our appointment. All that for absolutely NO help at all. Just admit that you can't do anything for me and pass me off to a different office that can instead of being bitter and downright rude to me. As far as Dr Sievert goes, there's nothing much to say about him other than he does nothing. Just says "yeah", "uh -huh", "sorry to hear that" but doesn't really help or do anything, at least for me. Most of the office staff is ok but they always drop the ball after telephone appointments and sending messages to Doctors. Will be told to wait for them to call and set up an appointment then won't hear from them at all for months. All to get scolded by Woodward for their negligence. I was told when I was first referred here that this was the best of the best of the valleys Psychiatric doctors. If this is the best, then Fresno is no place to live if you need mental help. read more

Medical insurance has greatly reduced the time that a psychiatrist can spend with a patient, so it is all the more important that a provider be skilled at diagnosis and treatment. I've been a patient of Dr Sievert's for 20 years. He helped me out of the worst period on my life when I was completely disabled. And then he has kept me stable for my chronic issue. He knew when I needed to add counseling and when to make medical changes. Above all he sincerely cares for his patients. I cannot recommend him highly enough. read more

ABSOLUTLEY UNPROFESSIONAL AND DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! As a new patient, we waited at least a month to get an appointment, filled out tons of new patient paperwork, I did all the legwork for prior authorization with insurance company and was completely prepared for my minor daughters appointment. In the paperwork it stated there would be $100 fee for cancellation within 24 hrs, I respect that. I was also told to come 30 mins prior to my actual appointment which i did but they doors were locked. We waited in the parking lot and i got a call from the receptionist 5 minutes before my appointment saying they needed to cancel because the therapist called in sick. I walked in and said we have already driven across town, rearranged my work schedule and daughters schedule, and asked in there was any other doctor or therapist that could see her, she rudely said nobody else could see you today! Very unprofessional and inconsiderate of my time. Very hypocritical that they expect the patient to call 24 hours in advance or be charged $100 fee, when they call 5 minutes prior to a patient appointment and cancel, they should pay me the $100 fee!! Complete BS and therapist are a dime a dozen so please don't go to these people. Find a compassionate group that cares about the patients time and accommodating them when something unexpected arises, not being treated rudely, uncaring and a hypocritical place of business. I am going through a very important life altering situation and they won't get me in to see him because I am considered a "new patient". I have had many of the same issues as others have had. I liked Dr. Aviv as she was easy to talk with, but we never seemed to get round to talking about the underlying issues. I really liked Barbara, FNP-C, her critical care experience from her past matched my own so I always felt we were on the same page. My issues were with the front end staff, their lackadaisical, care free mind set confirms the one star given, half a star was not available. My issues were similar to others byway of canceling my appointment yet neglecting to notify me, screw up the billing then that person be rude about it. The final issue and the piece that made me snap was a insurance issue. My insurance changed from Trinity health BCBS PPO to an Anthem HMO plan, so I now had to obtain a referral to go back to this psychology office. My provider made the referral yet I never received a call from Sieverts office, one week later I called them to make an appointment but could only leave a message for them in the middle of the afternoon. Four more days passed so I called once more, at this time I was able to schedule an appointment. I made sure the office had received my insurance information which was confirmed yet I still offered to fax or give the information right then, I was told it was not necessary, "just bring your card when you come for your scheduled appointment". On the day of my appointment I showed up fifteen minutes early and checked in, I offered my insurance card and set down. Ten minutes later I was called up and given my card back and confirm everything was good to go and the receptionist confirmed. After my appointment I returned to the front desk to schedule more appointments with Dr. Aviv and a different NP, I was told my payment was nearly $200.00, after inquiring why the price was so steep She told me that my insurance was not accepted there any longer. They had better than two weeks to let me know that yet did not. I can not begin to explain how unprofessional the office is ran. This office should be ashamed of their business practices but I know in my heart they are not. read more

I've been a patient of Dr Sievert for 16 years, through the ups and downs of serious illness. Psychiatrists have a very difficult practice in our times. They are too few and insurance has reduced the appointment times fir follow up visits to 15 minutes--it's not the same as 30 years ago. Case loads are high and then there are the after-hour emergency and hospital visits. Perhaps it is 40+ years of experience that give Dr Sievert the ability to still provide good care. When I first saw him he carefully managed my case and made sure I got the medical care I needed, seeing me as often as I required. As I progressed he was able to incorporate a counselor. Finally when I was doing well he added a nurse practitioner to the team. Dr Sievert is caring and very interested in the patient's desires and concerns. He is an excellent listener. I had never been to a psychiatrist before my first visit with him and was truly a basket case. I can still remember when I was leaving that he put his hand in my shoulder and looked me in the eyes and said, "You are going to get better!" And he was correct. Sadly the modern field of psychiatry is very restricted in how much time they can spend with you. Dr Sievert's many years of prescribing medications and using local counselors made up for the problem in my case. He seems to intuitively know the best medications and dosing. When I first saw him I had been started on insufficient doses and incorrect medications by a generalists. He immediately changed course. Finally, if you have never been to a psychiatrist before you may feel embarrassed to go. You will find his staff pleasant and professional, and other than the sign in the door, you will find the office like any other specialists office. Sievert W Dwight, MD will over prescribe you, if you're not careful. Who really needs 120 pills x 8mg of Xanax bars each month with 4 refills overlapped every 2 months? Doing better now that she is away from this doctor. It took the legal system to interact in order to facilitate a change. He could care less about his patient well being. I went today to get help for my son and Absolutely WORSE experience ever!! That Randy guy was EXTREMELY rude to me, rolling his eyes and making faces everytime I said something..at first I thought I was just over reacting and I tried to shine it off but after a while it was so obvious HE DID NOT care! So I literally walked out of the session and he had the nerve to follow me to the front desk and tell me I was the one with mental problems right in front of staff and possibly other clients (I was too embarrassed to see who else heard) I am definitely filing a complaint on him! read more

Was a ho-hum patient for 3 years, never seemed to improve though. But I trusted my provider. 4th year? Yeah, I went bonkers...surprise! I'm in a psychiatric clinic! I'm going to give Dr. Sievert five stars. As a caretaker for my mom it has been difficult trying to find the right med for her. My mom has been seeing this psychiatrist for over two years now and although sometimes her symptoms worsen and we have a difficult time finding the right medication for her, I know Dr. Sievert truly cares for his patients and will do what is best. He is a good listener and if you give him suggestions, he will be open to them. Getting an appointment isn't hard, sometimes I've gotten same-day appointments. Refill request are very fast. The staff is really nice and friendly, I've never had trouble with them before. Unfortunately, sometimes medications don't help some patients but that's not the doctors fault. read more

Deborah Moore is a nurse practitioner in Dr. Sievert's office. She is an amazing practitioner who immediately puts her patients at ease. She is very understanding and truly cares about her patients and adds a human touch to the psychiatric office. Unfortunately, mental illness continues to carry a stigma that society has placed upon it. Deborah eases her patients fears, educates them on their condition, and encourages communication between patient and practitioner in order to improve patient outcomes. She is also very well versed in genetic testing, via cheek swab, and results in finding the best medication to treat a person's particular illness. This facility has no respect for their patients time. When you are lucky enough to get appointment (weeks or months out) expect to wait at least 30 mins to an hour after your scheduled time before you are actually seen. In addition after your initial appointment, the length of your appointment will be scheduled for 15 mins. If you have to cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours or have to miss due to an emergency the penalty fee is $200. While the doctors are good once you see them, the waste of time and frustration really isn't worth it. read more

It's true that sometimes you have to wait longer than you'd like, but when a doctor is dealing with patients with mental issues, tardiness and forgetfulness can just be part of it. Prescribing medications for conditions is not a science, more of an art. You try one, you try another, you do the best you can and so do they. It's important to inform you doctor if your medicine isn't working for you and of any side effects. Communication is the main issue with this office. I find that just going down there and waiting until the Rx issue is straightened out works pretty well, but I am retired and can do that. You can fax them at https://faxzero.com/ for free. Drop off a note, fax them, write a letter, send them a telegram, whatever. I WISH THEY HAD AN EMAIL ADDRESS. Because it does make getting refills a huge pain in the neck. This is my only complaint. My last psy doc had an email for patients to use to communicate with the office and it was the bomb. I suppose this office may be afraid it's opening a can of worms, but I used to give everyone my phone number and email when I taught and found it was never abused, even once. I've had a wonderful experience with this practice from the front office to Randy Callahan, PA. For the first six months after I started seeing Callahan, I kept having to contact the office for a number of issues. The office always attended and resolved my needs in a timely matter. I've never waited but maybe five minutes to be seeing. After seeing many doctors in the past, I was skeptical of finding a solution to my issues of anxiety, depression and ADHD. Callahan changed my life. He was able to find the right medications for me to remove all the negative forces that kept me from dealing with life properly. read more

My 1st couple visits early last year were ok. On my 3rd visit this year (9/11/18) I was told they no longer take my insurance and haven't taken it since last year. Strange since this was my 3rd visit this year and they were happy the last 2 time to take my money. I was further instructed that if I wanted to see the clinician I would have to pay $100 cash price to get my meds that I have been on for over a year. To me that seems like extortion. Now I have no meds and will suffer from withdrawals until my Dr. apt. So please avoid, also why the full charge of copay if your not seeing an actual Dr. A PA is not a doctor and we should not be paying doctor prices. read more

They do not advocate for their patients here. they prescribe RX without follow through and they give you the run around despite the persons health and best interest. I'm under no illusion that this job is a difficult one but they don't really care about the people coming in. And in this field is where patient and doctor need the most COMMUNICATION. My experience was 100% the same as Bruce T.'s I too did see Randy (6/1). It was the office manager/staff who has the responsibility of calling/faxing/E-scripting the prescribed order. I never got any drug which Randy prescribed (REFILLS) until NOVEMBER. Over the next 6 months, I asked 4 X "Where are they"? Just never got a squeak of an answer from anyone in the office. Regarding Randy's prescription: I asked that my 3 meds be sent to a pharmaceutical mail-order company. I have dealt with them before; very professional. I waited 10 days before I phoned the M-O company. I was told that they never received anything for me. So I call dr sievert's office and got the run around. They said they would re-send it. 'round & 'round we went until it was too late for me .... I needed medication. So In September, I phoned a woman in sievert's office whom I had known for several years. I told her in short what was happening. She asked me what I needed, and I pick the it up from a Walgreen's a few hours later. At WG's the drug costs $35.00 for one month; the M-O company charges $35. /3 months. I saw dr sievert on 11/4/15. I took with me a piece of paper upon which I had written the name and FAX number of the M-O company. I also wrote out the names of the 3 meds I needed. Included were the same dosage, instructions and quantity I had had before. The M-O company will only fill prescriptions for 90 days plus. I wrote down quantity of 90 days. The doctor copied it and then gave it back to me. At the front desk, I gave that list to "Lillibelle", and told her to keep it in my file in case there were any problems or mix-ups. When I asked about Randy's scrips of 6/1, Lillibelle pointed to her computer's appointment screen and said that they were sent in on June 30th...to WG's. I left the office at 12:15 pm. Skipping to the end of this experience, on 11/06, I filed a complaint with the company responsible for paying the sievert md inc his bill, - the money which is MY insurance money. They did pay sievert and Randy. They also did an investigation after I gave them many, many factual details. After 30 days, the report's conclusion was that the office manager, -"Jo" (1st office manager) did IN FACT have a FAX machine which dropped the ball when having to connect with the M-O company's FAX machine. Sievert's office manager (a new one named "Sue") and a M-O pharmacist did a dry run through on the stubborn machines. Well, I'll be. The pharmacist never got the paper the office manager said she was sending. This was done because she said she sent it on 11/4 after I left the office, and the M-O company must have never received it. (M-O told me that 2 phone calls to dr. sievert were not returned.) ....When y'all lie, keep it simple. Went to Walgreen's on that 11/4 appt day because they called for me to pick up my prescriptions. No M-O company again. Walgreen's print-outs later showed me that the office manager had called WG's at 2:43 pm. The first drug was in error as to quantity. The second cost me $35/a month. The 3rd did not come through. On 11/22, WG's called about 2 new prescriptions from Randy ... written on 6/1. On 11/5, I phoned and spoke with Lillibelle. I loudly RANTED with good language about not getting my prescriptions and yada, yada. She actually talked OVER me on the phone, as though she were talking to another patient making an appt. for next week. "See you next week." Then she hung up on me. On 11/5, someone from that office phoned in a scrip for Seraquel. I had told Randy and dr. that I did NOT need SERAQUEL. I had 7 bottles (months) of it at home. So with this new scrip, I would have ended up with 14 bottles (840 pills). The prescription was for THAT month, plus 6 refills, - and this was phoned in as a 90 day supply.... The order was attributed to dr. sievert. My insight tells me that dr sievert does not want anything to do with the "office", so they do their own thing. I knew dwight back in 1988 to 1990. He fell asleep twice. Now he is like a robot. Has NEVER asked me if I were having symptoms of "this or that" caused by the meds. I used Seraquel for sleep. When it no longer worked, he said to increase it,- would not hurt me. In Dec. I found out that I had macular edema, (my vision worsened to 20/60). Dr. Kim took me off the Seraquel. In a month the edema has lessened. Seraquel's manufacturer prints a list of recommended dosages and time to be on the drug. I was on it for 7 years and was taking a near top dosage. Sievert did not do due diligence. He had once asked why change if it is working? ...Another comment on a top notch office staff. They allowed a women's clothing catalog to be put into the waiting room which had on it the doctor's daughter's name. It had been mailed to her at the office. Now THAT stupidity would have woken up the doctor! Doctors, like my dad, are very careful about their privacy. Well, because he is in denial, nor does he care, -- the chickens have come home to roost. The above is true. read more

I am 52 and started seeing Randy Calahan about a month ago. Over the past 20 years I have been to more doctors than you can count for the same complaint, chronic fatigue, depression, pain and severe sweating. My quality of life was so bad that I lost my job and spent days at a time in bed from the pain and fatigue. I have never been a lazy person but my energy level was so low that I simply did not have the strength to fight which was causing major depression. Each doctor I saw simply gave me another medication or blamed everything on Fibromyalgia which I do have and told me to exercise and eat right. I had lost faith in doctors and only agreed to see another one to make my family happy. Mr. calahan was pretty sure that one of my medications was the problem but to be sure he did some genetic testing which confirmed a very severe reaction to the medication. After years of feeling like I was dying I can feel myself coming back to life. He also determined that I have been misdiagnosed for many years and we are making medicinal changes for that as well. Most doctors don't listen or take the time to figure out the problem and Randy does. The changes that he made are life changing and drastically positive. Thank you Randy! read more
