Despite my undying love for Sultane de Saba when it comes to waxing, I had little time to trek…read morethere recently and decided to check out this beauty salon not that far from my hood.
The reservation process was delightful and they were able to accommodate me with short notice, so far so good.
The exterior of the salon as you can see leaves little to be desired and doesn't do justice to the attentive, chatty, personalized service that you get once indoors. In fact, the same goes for the interior, which is rather bland and unexciting.
The big perks however to this salon go to two very important thing:
1. The owner, a fascinating woman who looks twenty years younger than she is, has had an extraordinary life. In just one session on her waxing table, I heard a novella's worth of information about her kids (7 of them!), her ex-husband, her ex-boyfriend, dating strategies, her changing attitudes towards faith, her travels... powerful stuff that she definitely needs to get down in a book somewhere because she is a pretty inspiring woman. I won't give any of the info away as not to spoil the experience for you.
2. Whatever wax she uses doesn't not hurt one damn bit. I mean, not at all. I've never experienced such a pain-free wax anywhere in the world. Cheers to that!
So, this place is a great really for the service and conversation. I'd just love to see some improvement to the aesthetics of the space to make it a truly special address.
