This restaurant is hidden in a huge complex. The area is not too great but I think the food makes up for it. They have all the basics as well as bubble tea. We ordered two appetizers spring rolls and gyoza which were super crispy and the dipping sauces were perfect. We also ordered drunken noodles which was supposed to be spicy but wasn't. I was browsing Yelp for lunch options since Sterling is not the greatest for food variety. I stumbled upon this place and it helped that it was super close to me. I ordered takeout and the lady on the phone was very polite and helpful. Siam Spice is located between the Dollar Store and laundromat in the Safeway shopping center on Sterling Blvd. It's a tiny cozy place. I was there around noon time and only one table was taken. There were 2 cashiers and both of them had a pleasant and inviting attitude, which is always a plus. I ordered Drunken Noodles (dinner size) and Thai Iced Tea. The Drunken Noodles were tasty and spicy, and the size was about what you would get anywhere else for $11. I loved that they waited till I got there to pour the iced tea in a to go cup; however the tea itself was a bit too sweet for me. Overall a good lunch spot. read more

This became one of the top best Thai spots in the DMV for me. The place was clean but fairly small. The shopping center isn't appealing but this is a hidden gem. Customer service was great. The restaurant was clean. The prices were fair for the amount of food you get. The food came out quick which gave them brownie points. My favorite dishes to order from any Thai restaurants are pad thai, larb gai, and curry. The larb gai salad (and requested sticky rice to go with it) was absolutely delicious. The flavor of it was mouth watering and well balanced. I also ordered pad Thai, Siam fried rice, satay chicken skewers (app), cheese wontons (app)... and I was happy with all of my choices. It was one of those Saturdays where the last thing I wanted to do was cook dinner. I ordered a crystal noodle with extra chicken and tom kha soup via the Yelp app/Grubhub. So delicious! I opted for mild because I wasn't in a spicy mood, and the food was perfect. Tangy, but not too spicy, just like I'd asked. The noodles were amazing and not greasy at all (which is always a risk depending on how they are cooked). Plus delivery was super fast, beating the estimated ETA by a good 20 minutes. Cheese wontons - I understand every place has their own way of making things, but for me it's a no. In town for the weekend and was craving some Thai food. I checked Yelp for recommendations and this place had decent reviews. I called to place my order by phone and asked for the Spicy Basil Chicken and Fried Rice. I was informed they didn't have any fried rice available. I was surprised seeing as they have several fried rice dishes, one being their "signature dish" Siam Fried Rice. I arrived to pick up my order and to my surprise the entree was in a small container than usual take out dishes. There was more rice then there was chicken. This definitely is only a one person dish if you aren't a big rice eater, and aren't getting anything else. Now the bright side is the dish was very flavorful and delicious. Overall a good meal. i order delivery from this place twice. First time I got Sun Dried Beef and Siam Steak. Sun Dried Beef come with a little side of salad and a mild sweet and sour sauce, a decent appetizer to snack on. The Siam Steak is really good however, very well seasoning, doesn't need the sauce on the side in my opinion. I would order extra side of rice for the Siam steak. I used to live in Northern VA for many years and one of my favorite things I loved was the diversity of food here. While in Sterling for the week, I found this gem of a restaurant through Yelp/Google. I love Thai food so I'm always looking for good Thai places to eat at. We walked in and there was nobody eating in the restaurant due to COVID and the bad weather (it was snowing), so we decided to sit down to eat. There were lots of people coming in and out to get to-go orders so we knew this place was promising. The owner was very inviting and gave us all great suggestions. We started off with Thai Iced Tea, had Shrimp Tom Yum soup as an appetizer, Siam Steak, Basil Crispy Chicken, Mango Sticky Rice, and Chicken Pad Thai to-go! There was only 2 of us but we definitely went all out and ordered everything lol. Siam Steak was very tender, the sauce that came with it was flavorful. The Basil Crispy chicken was crunchy and fresh. We were so full but we still made room for Mango Sticky rice (which was on the house!). The Pad Thai was great and you could really taste the tamarind flavor. Even the dressing on the garden salad was yummy. The owner was very nice and talked to us about Thailand since we were telling him we had just visited there 2 years ago. I'm a huge fan of Thai food but a little spoiled after having gone to Thailand. But it was good here! I got the Panang curry. YUM. I feel like I could've eaten without the rice and that says a lot cuz I love rice with everything. The best thing about this place place is the spice rack. Best Thai in Loudoun! Super cute restaurant with amazing people making excellent Thai food. The food here is super fresh and flavorful, just the right portion size, and really a deal for the price considering the service and quality of food. The Thai bubble tea was made to order and had a nice balance of sweet and flavorful. The tom kha soup was a good balance of spicy and savory, really fresh mushrooms and lemon grass and green onions and the broth was smooth with a nice little spice to it mellowed by the coconut cream. The basil crispy chicken was awesome, a very nice presentation with perfectly crisp and seasoned chicken and beautiful veggies. Not too hot with the right balance of heat and a little sweet. The side salad was refreshing and the dressing a light peanut sauce, which offset the chicken well. The staff working really made it better, first time dining in offered helpful suggestions on what to get and a very pleasant balance of attention without being overbearing. Very friendly and seemed like a cohesive family or team atmosphere. The restaurant itself was very clean and well taken care of. OK. So we really didn't expect this at all. Amazing Thai food in the Sterling Park Shopping Center....next to Harbor Freight....and a laundromat? Huh....really? This place is a hidden gem. We have eaten at the restaurant, as well as enjoyed take out on several occasions. They just don't miss. The food is hot, fresh, flavorful and spiced perfectly. The service is top noch, to include amazingly fast delivery. Every Thai restaurant is judged on a few different dishes. To start with, Siam Spice excels in the spring roll department. They are perfectly cooked, not too greasy and come with a excellent dipping sauce. Tom Kha soup is a meal unto itself. Creamy, spicy, and a hint of sweetness make it a perfect accompaniment to any meal. My wife and I are fans of vegetarian Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles. Siam Spice delivers with both of these standards. Again, the freshness and attention to spice make both of these dishes delicious and memorable. I know that Sterling Park Shopping Plaza may not be everyone's cup of tea in the evening. However, I would highly recommend that you make the trip and try Siam Spice. Review update: ordered via grub hub again. I ordered tom yum noodle soup, Thai ice coffee, beef salad $24 with out delivery, tax or tip. Tom Yum noodle soup : $13 and disappointing. I expected a more authentic taste and just more. The broth was sweet, like it had been sweeten with sugar, the spice was too much even though I chose mild, it came with 4 shrimp , a vegetable I think bok Choy, and white rice noodles same size as the pad Thai ones. And then it had ground pork or chicken in it which I wasn't expecting. I really didn't like the soup it just didn't taste like the Tom yum I'm use too. I ate it but would not order again. Thai ice coffee: $3 it is NOT ice THAI Tea like i thought it was it was legit coffee. Lol it was okay, very sweet and strong . I probably would not order again too sweet for me and I honestly thought it was Thai tea not the coffee lol Beef Thai salad: $8 thank goodness for this salad, the meat was tender juicy and well marinated. Overall good lunch salad for the price. Over all I would probably order again for other items, but not the Tom yum unfortunately. This was definitely a let down compared to my previous order a few days ago. I will update review if and when I try other items. The service here is super friendly and welcoming. But sadly, the food isn't up to par. There was a hair in my Tom Yum soup on the shrimp. The soup itself was very sweet, instead of the Tom Yum tartness that most Tom Yum should be. The chicken pad Thai was also very sweet. Pricing and portion sizes are reasonable. The first thing you notice when you walk in: there is zero smell of food cooking.... Zero. But you will probably trust that the place is disinfected, because the smell of cleaning chemicals was overpowering. As Thai restaurants go, we felt the food was very average. All of the flavors in the dishes existed, but were underwhelming. My (2 star = spicey) drunken noodles lacked both flavor and spice. The chicken wasn't sautéed, but probably just thrown in at the end. It's my opinion that the sauces were canned, but I could be wrong. WOWZA! Fantastic. We came in on Father's Day and were immediately seated. The decor was cute and they had jazzy music playing. The servicer was quick and attentive. She was also very nice! We ordered two appetizers: the calamari and the Spicy Siam Wings. The calamari was SMALL but tasty. The wings were awesome. For entrees we ordered the Basil Shrimp Fried Rice, Dynamite Chicken, Minced Basil Chicken, and Beef Drunkin Noodle. Every dish was phenomenal. Everything cooked to perfection. Tons of leftovers! Side note: the server was awesome and let us know about the odor of the Dynamite Chicken ahead of time. We still got it and loved it but we really appreciated her giving us a heads up. She also double checked we loved super spicy food and we felt she didn't hold back the spicy like some Thai places do. For dessert We ordered a mango sticky rice and they surprised us with a slice of cheesecake as well for my husband to celebrate Father's Day! Pattaya Thai was the long-time occupant of this spot. In the beginning, it was a great restaurant and we were repeat customers. At some point, it changed hands and went downhill. We noticed that Siam Spice was the new occupant so I looked them up on Yelp to find that the reviews were great. With that in mind, we were here on a Saturday around 5:30 p.m. When we arrived, we were their only customers that were dining in. They got a couple of calls for take out orders. It helps that they offer free delivery. Our server was very friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. For drinks, I had water while my husband had a can of Coke. They don't serve any alcoholic beverages---and I'm not sure if they plan to keep it that way or if they are waiting on a liquor license. That said, we got our drinks served in glasses advertising Singha beer... We both started with soup. My husband got tom yum soup which consists of: "spicy lemongrass soup flavored in wild lime leaves with mushrooms and cilantro. You can add meat or fish to it if you like. He added shrimp to his. This soup is on the spicy side and has two stars for spiciness rating. My husband said the soup started out sweet but as he got further into it, he really tasted the heat. He was given 3 decent sized shrimp. Overall, he enjoyed this soup. I started with wonton soup. Having never seen this on a Thai menu, I was curious. It consists of: "marinated ground pork wrapped in wonton skin and served in delicious chicken broth". The wontons were good-sized and the pork filling had an undercurrent of sweetness to it. There were bits of Napa cabbage in the bowl. The broth was seasoned well with the right amount of salt. I would have this soup again. For my main course, I chose a chicken dish. By asking the server, I found out that some of their chicken dishes are all white meat like the basil chicken and the dynamite chicken. Some have both dark and white meat in them. If it matters to you, do ask the server before ordering. I chose dynamite chicken which had one star when it came to spiciness. This dish consists of: "crispy chicken mixed with spicy lime dressing, red onions, scallion and roasted rice". The rice was served on the side and to me, it tasted like regular steamed rice. The chicken was very lightly battered which was just enough to give it some crispiness. The red onions are sliced and added after the dish is cooked---so in other words, they are raw. It had red pepper slices in it that were lightly stir-fried as were the broccoli florets and Napa cabbage. Some shredded carrots and one half of a cherry tomato were placed on a large romaine lettuce leaf and presented as garnish. The chicken did have a bit of a kick to it and was tasty. I liked that the spice wasn't overpowering. Since I'm not a fan of raw onion, I removed the red onion slices. My husband got garlic lovers. With this dish, you choose what meat or seafood you wanted in it. He chose shrimp. It consists of: "choice of meat or seafood stir-fried with white pepper in a Thai garlic sauce served with steamed broccoli". He did enjoy it and noticed that there were some whole garlic cloves in it. His one complaint was that he wished that they had amped up the garlic flavoring in it---given that the name "garlic lovers" implies that the flavoring would be bold. Overall, we enjoyed the food and plan to return to sample more menu items. The new owners redecorated the dining room very nicely. They also removed the refrigerated case from the dining area. The background music wasn't loud which we appreciated it and consisted of smooth jazz which added a nice touch to the atmosphere. Before the tip, dinner cost $40 + change. read more

I really wanted to like Siam Spice as I love supporting new local businesses here in Sterling but it just fell so short. I was excited to try it given excellent reviews here and on the Sterling facebook group but I'm just not seeing what others have seen. The good: The waitstaff were quick to answer the phone and get my order. The restaurant itself seemed clean and had nice decor. The waitstaff were quick with my pick-up order and perfectly pleasant. I have no complaints about the staff. The food however, is where Siam Spice falls short. I ordered pickup to take along to a meeting for 3 of us and ordered a dynamite chicken, veggie delight with tofu, and Pad Thai with shrimp. All of it was sub-par. I wish I would have taken photos of the food itself, but I was in a meeting and couldn't really do that. The dynamite chicken sounded really good from the menu description and other reviews. It was dry, had some powdery stuff over it that made it even more dry (maybe it was an attempt at flavor and spice?). There was no lime dressing as described. If there was, it was so miniscule, it was soaked up by the dry chicken in the 10 minute drive I took the food down the road. Others reported getting broccoli with their chicken, ours did not. It was a pile of dry, overly fried chicken with raw red onion (the red onion was the best part of the dish) with a pile of lettuce and a half cherry tomato. The "roasted" rice was steamed white rice. Nothing special about it. I assumed I would have a little spice with the dynamite chicken since it had a star with it. None. No spice whatsoever. I'll never order it again. The Veggie Delight with tofu was ok but nothing special. It was a much smaller serving than the dynamite chicken despite being listed as an entree (and an $11 price tag) and would not have been enough for one person alone without the heap of white rice. So glad we had 3 awful dishes than just one tiny dish. It too came with standard steamed white rice. The light brown sauce listed on the menu was certainly light, almost non-existent. I don't need my food to be drowning in sauce, but I like a little to mix into my rice and actually taste with the dish when the menu claims it has a sauce. The pad thai was the least offensive of the 3 dishes but really just lacked any flavor. After tasting everything, I double checked the bag. Maybe they had put the lime dressing for the chicken in there? Maybe there were small containers of spices so we could add our own heat (other local Thai places do this with pick-up/deliver). Nothing. For the price of the dishes, I expected a lot more. It's going to take a lot for me to give Siam Spice another try and even then I'm not sure I will. read more

The warmest service I've ever experienced at a Thai Restaurant is to be found in DC, apparently! Came here straight off the plane from California, and the five star reviews did not disappoint. The Pad Khee Mao (aka Drunken Noodles, which I ordered with chicken) here is outstanding because of the freshly made, plump and chewy rice noodles - the owner told me he sources them from the best place in DC and picks them up daily. The sweet soy sauce is a bit on the sweet side though so if you want more savory then specify that. The lean chicken breast was perfectly sautéed and cut thinly enough to take the right amount of flavor, the edges a little crispy and tastier for it. Of note, Drunken Noodles are a street food found in Thailand, and got its name as it is a popular dish for people who are trying to sober up after having a lot to drink. I'd imagine it would taste great with a beer too. The mango sticky rice was on point too- I normally eat the mango and only a few bites of the carb-rich sticky rice, but the rice was perfectly seasoned (sweet+salty coconut milk goodness) and with that just-right toothsome texture that I ended up polishing off the dish. Ah well. I did starve on the plane, and endured a very chatty passenger who tried to talk my ear off the entire trip! Taking solace in great Thai food can be forgiven, methinks. I'd come back here just for the warm service, which makes great food taste better. Next time I plan to try the green or red curry, as these are the house specialties. Unlike most Thai restaurants, this place serves what looks to be house-made sauces with their noodles so I'm curious to order the Pad Thai next time.
