This new cute mom & pop owned diner has delicious food and friendly and attentive staff. There are specials almost everyday and the quality of the food is apparent. For breakfast I tried the chocolate chip pancakes with eggs over hard and crisp thick cut bacon which was superb and for lunch I had a gyro with fries (you can also opt for fried zucchini) which was delicious as well. Random place I decided to go too and it was delicious! I ordered the steak combo and some chocolate chip pancakes on the side. Found a place to seat right away and you can definitely tell it's like a MA and pa shop. It was crowded but not too crowded. I had my food and it was really good! The plate alone filled me up so I couldn't eat the pancakes :( The prices was amazing! It was very competitive while the food was up to par! I didn't order coffee but I noticed there's always a staff going around tables to refill your coffee. Pretty cool since not a lot of places do that anymore. I've only been here once so I would want to come back with the fam bam so they can experienced it themselves for stuff I can't make at home. And it wouldn't hurt the wallet either! read more

I can't decide between three and four stars because at least the food was on par with the price, which is good. Pro: friendly staff Con: friendly staff It gets a little disingenuous when everyone is constantly smiling and asking how you are too many times. We were trying to have a conversation as we left but we are "assaulted" by five different staff members all saying bye bye and thank you for coming. They just disregard any normal courtesies when it comes to being pleasant. The food was very well cooked and came out really fast. It was a lot of canned and frozen food but again, it was on par with the price. I'd recommend coming here though, if you're looking for a nice breakfast grill cafe. read more

Both my bf and I spent roughly $12-13 on two meals and a side of hash browns to share. Food came out in 10 min or less Try their pumpkin pancakes while they're still in season, so fluffy and not too saturated w/ the heavy pumpkin flavor, just enough. Scrambled eggs were fluffy and actually had flavor, boyfriend loved his french toast. Only thing I didn't really like was the bacon...it was very brittle and didn't have much flavor. Service was excellent but the food wasn't great. As a matter of fact it was bad. The corned beef hash that is $10.00 is from a can. Trust me I'm a professional chef. It doesn't take a professional chef to spot this but i feel it worth noting because jeeze I feel ripped off. Cashier was polite, prompt and to the point. The lady with shorter hair that worked the floor was also attentive and helped move me tables inside so i didn't have to sit in the sun. I liked that I can serve myself as much soda as i want without waiting. The place was clean. I could see that a manager was working the line with the cooks. Sign in the window looking for cooks. I just wonder how much more magical this place could be with a chef making slow braised corned beef, roasted potatoes, fresh herbs, caramelized onions on the flat top with clarified butter? They are using butter blend either Phase 2 margarine blend or griddle butter. Same girl with short hair is taking phone orders, pouring coffee and working her butt off. I came here on the recommendation of a very prestigious chef who said for me to pancakes and eggs but i do not like pancakes so i got the dang corned beef hash and it was awful. Down right grey, lifeless and tasted like canned dog food. Please for the love of God start serving real hash. Kylie as i just found out is,the lady zipping around doing an amazing job. This place is an absolute gem. Came here on a Sunday morning around 11:00 and it was decently crowded, but tables cleared up regularly. The four of us (with drinks) came out to under $40 which is great because so many breakfast only spots love to jack up their prices. Here, you get the hardy meal you want, no frills, really REALLY great service (they are on clearing tables like THAT) all at a good price! I don't eat out regularly, but this is a place that will forever be on my rotation on the special days I do go out. It's also somewhere I would bring guests from out of town. Finally a great breakfast place that isn't super expensive and has great quality food. This place is located in a kind of weird location but is worth driving to! I came to eat breakfast here one morning and it was about half full of people. I ordered the egg combo, which came with eggs, bacon, country potatoes and toast. An excellent "mom & pop" type establishment, where they genuinely care about quality and service. I've had breakfast and their burgers here, and I have never been disappointed. Their prices are good as well. If I ever tire of the fast food jungle, and want some home cooking, then I come here. It's a valid alternative to my mom's cooking. Keep in mind that they are usually only open to 3pm. So, this place is (sadly) only an option for breakfast and lunch. Other than that, there are no negatives to this place. I got the Truman fries which are chili cheese fries with pastrami and I was drooling just from them smell. The thick cut fries and chili definitely went well together and the pastrami was delicious. Great family owned and operated little place to eat! Just south of Yorba Linda Blvd. on Placentia in Fullerton. Also accessible from Yorba Linda Blvd where Target is... But it's completely across the parking lot from Target. The establishment is extremely clean and the staff very friendly and attentive, not only towards the customers, but towards their duties as well. Everyone on staff was busy doing something, never just standing around. I had a sourdough burger with bacon and cheddar cheese, and a salad. My husband ordered the Ortega burger with fries. There was enough of the fries and salad that we shared them. The burgers were delicious!!! The bacon thick and very crispy and the grilled sourdough wasn't overly greasy like some other local places. My husband was also very happy with his Ortega chile burger. We had a nice visit with one of the owners, who gave us a short history on their former restaurants and how Shorty'z came to life. Great family, great food and affordably priced. Will most definitely be back!! read more
