I recently moved to the area from north Jersey and needed to establish care with a cardiologist. Shore Heart Group was recommended to me I made an appointment in December in the Manahawkin office. The waiting room was probably furnished in the '70's. They should be embarrassed. The examination room was just as bad. With one person in charge of checking me in was but overwhelmed with a line that extended outside the building. When I was called for my appointment I was escorted to a dinghy examination room. I sat on an examination table where an EKG was administered while I sat up. Never had that before. I met with a physician for 10 minutes, reviewed my medical history and was given an appointment for a stress test. First visit - 10 minutes! The stress test was administered in a trailer in back of the main building. Since it was a nuclear stress test I had to be injected with the dye. It took two nurses to finally administer the injection. First time anyone ever had trouble finding my vein. I have several black and blues to show for their efforts. After the test there was no follow-up phone call and I had to wait for my next appointment to get the results Just as an aside, I cancelled my follow-up visit, picked up my test results and rescheduled with another cardiologist in a different group Bye bye Shore Heart Group. read more

They have too many patients and therefore cannot keep up with communicating with them. For over a month I have been calling to get information about an irregularity in my blood labs. I want to know if it is anything that should be done about this irregularity or not. Do my meds need to be changed or what? I am not the only one that has complaints about this group. there is no communication at all with this group. I cannot go on their patient portal because it keeps telling me that my email is invalid. I called today and they told me they did not have the blood work that I am talking about. the blood work was done at least a month ag. I had the results from the lab work about a month ago. read more

If you notice most of the 1-star reviews are recent giving you a more accurate current state of the practice. Like most one-star reviews here, the doctors are not the issue. The office administration is the choke point. My only experience has been with the Manahawkin office. My sister and myself have made numerous phone calls to clarify my 87-year-old mom's prescription medications with no return phone calls. I have left messages with the office manager with no return phone calls. I have an 83-year-old uncle who also goes there, and they performed the wrong in-office test because they mixed him up with another patient. I don't know if the office staff is overwhelmed with the number of patients thus being understaffed or the proper training isn't in place, or both but I feel it's just a matter of time before something bad happens to a patient. As a RN and health practitioner for many years I would never ever return to these cardiologists. Phones are not answered and once they are prepare to hold for 45 minutes then get a recording to leave a message which never gets returned. I don't know how they stay in business at all. Scheduling appointments is exhausting. I am currently in a 50 min cycle just attempting to speak to someone to get my husband's records. We are moving on without our records. my husband. The doctor seemed to be good although the PAs don't seem to communicate with the doctors because one tells you one thing and another tells you another thing. My biggest complaint, however, is that the organization other than the doctors absolutely sucks! You can call every single day to get a prescription refilled and they will ignore you. I have left messages over and over and over again about Trying to cancel an appointment or trying to talk to someone and you get nowhere. Don't bother leaving a message because they never returned your phone call. At one point I called Monday through Friday every day leaving a message for prescriptions and to speak to the doctor. No one ever called me back. I finally had my husband call the next Monday and, of course, when it's a male voice, they actually pay attention. Just be aware if you're gonna use these people That their service really does suck. read more

Absolute nightmare! First visit .. came to my appt at the Neptune office during a Noreaster storm Last week.. unfortunately my pocketbook was left on the ground at my apt bldg and I had two other bags with me which included my meds and notes for the doctor.. it was when the girl at the desk asked for my drivers license and copay that I realized I didn't have my purse. I asked if I could see the Doctor and bring my copay back the same day, or if they could give me a later time and I would leave then to go find my purse. The answer was NO! No copay now or no appt.. office manager came to desk and said the same thing... I asked if I could run to my sons house nearby to borrow the $40 from him , this was after the manager asked me if I could get the money somewhere else... I left the office in the torrential downpour to go to my sons to borrow the money! Meanwhile he was on a zoom call with 8 other people, in a meeting! He had to stop his meeting to locate his wallet. At this point I was in tears , soaking wringing wet, and feeling nauseous from the commotion.. the girls and mgr are the most horrible people I've ever come across. My visit with the Doctor was short.. I have no idea what we Even spoke about as I was crying through the entire visit.. needless to say, I will never step foot back in this place again... I think I must've seen 15 staff members running around and everyone of them had a miserable look on their face! Never saw a smile from one person... when i got home , the wind from the storm blew me down and I landed face first on the ground and the next thing I knew I was in an ambulance and taken to the hospital... if I can save one person from going to this practice , this review was worth it... the worst experience in a medical practice of my life and I'm going to be 70 years old... patients please beware! read more

I have been a patiant of the shore heart group for 2 years. Dr Orlando is a great Dr. I like him a lot. They saved my life. But I am done with this group hour and a half wait time if you can find a seat. office is a train wreck worse than any train wreck You could ever imagine cant get them on the phone without being on hold for 20 minutes. , I'm leaving. Not happy with the staff in Toms River office. They are very cold and unwelcoming. I questioned about my insurance covering My tests and got no response. I don't think my insurance was ever applied. the week before I asked if my insurance was covering these tests and I was told if it wasn't covered, I would be receiving a call. However, when I arrived I was asked for over $100 for my past test when I said I don't have that kind of money they had to get permission to continue with my tests for today and the receptionist was extremely nasty. I quess she has nobody in her family on limited funds. Dr Karem is a very good doctor but because of the office staff I will be looking for a new cardiologist. read more

I'm a 35 year old new mom who was told by her general physician to go to the heart doctor. Luckily all ended up being good health wise but it's a very scary thing to go through. It looks months to make 3 appointments with never any explanation on why I really needed the MRI or anything. The last of which was just to get results. Nothing else. I had to drive 2 hours for this one. I had to pay a lot for this visit. The nurses from the beginning said I had to be there and even my regular doctor said its better to go to be safe then when I get there they are all saying why did I travel so far for this? They also had me take a picture of the results with my phone. They are so technologically slow I have to always pay my bills via phone if they even pick up. I NEVER complain and actually enjoy writing great reviews but just so fed up! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! read more

He prescribed doubling my statin dosage . after 3 weeks i had such serious side effects i called his office to find out what to do. i called on 5 consecutive days and left messages because no one answers the medication or staff assistant line , only voicemail. No one called back including dr orlando. i finally called the appointment line and they answered the phone. they said it showed in my record that my issue had been referred to the doctor. nothing more they could do. or i could make an appt to see the dr. apparently no one cares at this office except to make your next appointment. i will go elsewhere. read more

Was supposed to have an appointment yesterday but when I arrived I was told that they did not accept my health insurance (even though on the health insurance website it says this office accepts it). Since I took half the day off of work for the appointment, I asked if I could just self-pay for the appointment since they do not accept the insurance I have. The woman at the desk claimed that I wasn't allowed to "double-dip" that its against the law. I asked her who was double-dipping, they don't take my insurance, so I am willing to pay out of pocket. She kept insisting that it was illegal!! (Those are her words!) I don't believe she even knows the definition of double-dipping. Additionally, I have been a patient there for several years (this year was the first year with new insurance). In the past, the wait time to see the doctor is usually about 2 hours (after your scheduled appointment time). So if your appointment is scheduled for 3 pm, you probably won't be seen until after 5pm. It is totally unacceptable! At this point, I rather go see another cardiologist because obviously these doctors have no idea how to run an office. They really need to train their office staff! read more

Today the office called me within less than two hours for a stress test. They said I could go to the Brick office, but I had on 40 minutes to get there and I live over 30 miles from Brick. Initially I had three appointments, one for an Echo, one for a stress test and the third was a follow-up with the doctor. The Echo was rescheduled twice and the stress test was pushed out as a result of the Echo being moved out. Today was the pay-off. I was scheduled for a stress test at 12PM and at 10:05 I received a call cancelling my appointment due to the cameras being down. I am going to have my records transferred to another Cardiologist, due to poor service. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Yang who is wonderful. He takes his time and really listens to your concerns. The problem I'm having is getting someone to respond to my medicine question. Dr. Yang told me to discontinue taking my meds for 10 days to see if it corrects my issue and call in 10 days. I have left 3 messages and no one has returned my call. I'm not sure if I should restart my meds or if he is going to prescribe a new med. Not good, very disappointed. read more

The doctors are great, but the staff leaves a lot to be desired. They don't return phone calls nor submit paperwork to insurance companies in a timely manner. We had to keep canceling and rescheduling an appointment (that's not easy to get) because the office failed to complete prior auth paperwork. They're not very friendly in person, but in their defense they seem overwhelmed. It's very robotic and cold when you go into the office. read more

On my recent visit to have a stress test, The provider was not in a good mood so I tried to make light conversation and laugh and what I received was an unprofessional behavior. The provider jammed the IV into the top of my hand and when I was complete with everything she yanked the IV needle out and caused a hematoma on the top of my hand. On the visit follow up with the provider I showed him a picture of my hand and he apologized for her ignorance. I also relayed to him that I was asked to sit in a chair that had stains all over it I said I wouldn't even put my feet up on it. With that I said to the provider the doctor look above the heating and air conditioning vents have black mold around it how can you work in a building like this? Now fast forward to today I was to have a 12:45 phone conversation regarding the results of a CAT scan it is now 7:51 and I have yet to receive a phone call from the doctor. I did however drive myself to the manahawkin office because no one and I say no one picked up the phone at that location The only office that picked up the phone was Neptune and they were very pleasant and courteous on the telephone. Upon my arrival in manahawkin I asked to receive my results of my test. It was relayed to me that I could not receive my test results unless I saw the doctor I said I had a 12:45 appointment she said she would have to speak to the doctor and then get back to me I said I've been phoning this office from 1:15 to 3:45 and not one person picks up and in front of all other patients sitting in their lobby I said I pressed all the numbers including acting as if I were a doctor or hospital and wanting to speak to the office nobody answers nobody answers when you press the number to get a prescription refill. What type of facility is this it's an absolute shame that no one picks the phone up in the manahawkin office but they pick up in their other locations and they're friendly I believe Jacqueline is your office manager and she should be fired for the conditions that reside in your facility in manahawkin. Since I have to add a star I'm going to add one star but in reality it's a minus hundred you failed. read more

I am a new patient in the Manahawkin office. the staff and the Doctor was friendly, courteous and informative. I really was impressed with Doctor Gill, he took the time to explain everything and made me feel comfortable. I had a procedure done in Neptune with Dr. Gill. Doctor Gill is first rate. Explains testing and results throughly. Answers all my questions. Cares about his patients. The Manahawkin office can be crowded at times. Which might be a result of covid related backlogs. Everyone trying to get their exams and tests scheduled and completed. Manahawkin and TomsRiver offices are convenient for me. read more

The 2 Doctors I have been a patient of are just Great. However, that being said, the staff SUCKS....!!!! They make me feel unwanted like I interrupting their day. Don't they know I pay their salary I went to the Toms River office on Tuesday and walked up to the window to get some paperwork. I waited and waited while the person behind the desk fiddled with paperwork knowing I was there waiting, but not recognizing me.. She finally said "Yes". What a turn off...!!! There are a whole group of Docs, but I can only write a review for ours. Dr. Orlando would be my choice! He literally stood up for my mom a few years ago after her heart attack and got her approved for what she needed. He saw a woman who was in her late 80s who had a lot of life left in her and had the caring attitude I don't see much of today. You never feel rushed. I heard someone mention that the waiting time in the waiting room is too long. Many times its because he either has an emergency or he gives everyone the personal time they need to discuss their concerns with him. You never leave feeling with him answering all of your questions. He's worth the wait. My husband and I also go to him and have been more than pleased with our care! read more

The doctor is good. The follow through from the office staff is unbelievably unacceptable when there is potential for post surgical risk. The office staff is rude, unprofessional and has zero bedside manner when it comes to a simple task of greeting patients as they enter the practice. They are curt, disrespectful and an awful representation of what this or any doctor should want for their front desk. It's truly unfortunate as the doctors do care. Even though the facts are short and to the point, the doctor is thorough are extremely to the point which may not appeal to all. The facts are all there and very thorough.
