I would have given a 5 stars but on paying at the cashier they did not accept my Chase Visa card. We were previously at Landmark and Fishers Mall a day or two ago, and they both accepted my Chase visa debit card. It was a good thing I had cash. Then we decided to have merienda at their cafe and on paying our bill my sister gave her senior card, and my wife and I gave our Nevada ID to show our age. Our IDs were not accepted either. We told them that our IDs have been good at every dining establishment we've been to but they still declined. I realize now that it is a company policy and the employees have nothing to do with this decision. It is just sad that they prefer to alienate their old customers who are balikbayans now. It is a total discrimination for us. We as Filipinos were never discriminated on in the United States, and now we were discriminated in our own country. I hope they enforce the same discriminating policy to the Chinese nationals.

Almost all products are being sold here. Pricey merchandise as compared to public market prices. They cater to upscale customers, tourists and visitors in the area. The only setback for foreign visitors is you can't use your foreign credit cards to make your purchase in Unimart. They only accept Philippines banks issued credit cards. You need to pay CASH! I would like to suggest for Unimart's meat and fish outsourced vendors; Unimart management must provide de-sanitizers and paper towels to customers buying fish and meat. It's so unsanitary!

It's honestly surprising how there's so many groceries on Commonwealth Avenue. You'd think with…read moretheir number they would saturate the market. Curiously enough, each establishment is still standing. I guess they all have a target market in mind. Shopwise is the newest kid on the block and boldly opened smack dab in the middle of it all. I quickly converted to the church of Shopwise when I found out that they close at 11PM every day. During late nights working (or just bumming around) at home, I'm able to buy last minute junk food at grocery store prices and not at inflated convenience store ones. I take advantage of this late closing time even with my regular groceries. If you go during peak times, you'll go crazy with how long the queue is. At the wee hours of the night, there's only a handful of people so the queues are short and sweet.

I have nothing against Puregold, but maybe there's just something a little more inviting about All Day. I've always known All Day as a convenience store and didn't quite think they had the chutzpah to make a supermarket. And as far as supermarkets go, they're pretty fine if you're just doing normal groceries and not looking for anything specific. They're small, but it doesn't feel cramped and always seem clean and not cluttered. I also appreciate that they have a side exit that goes out onto Shaw without having to go back through the mall, so I can just briskwalk through the mall, get what I need at All Day, and hightail outta there. I don't feel that there's too much variety in grocery items though--I remember looking for cleaning tools like brushes and wipes for the clinic and seeing that there wasn't a lot to choose from. They have a lot of bottled drink options on racks, but only about two fridges that has cold options, which I think is a little poor. They do have a respectable liquor selection, and have a strangely hefty amount of confectionery--they're the stuff nearest the side exit, which is why I notice this, but also because I like sweet and alcoholic things. If I'm in a hurry and not looking for much, All Day is a nice option to have.

For one thing, it *is* at the basement of the department store. After a demanding day of window shopping and trying on clothes just to put them back on the rack, you can actually end up doing something productive and take the escalator downstairs to do your groceries conveniently. Sure, it may have a lower ceiling, be more modest in space, and have a less expansive selection, but its compactness may also be its advantage--if you like to do your shopping quick then it's easier to do at SM, where you will better know where everything is and spend less time getting lost in tall, lengthy racks of stuff. They also have a lot of cashiers at either entrance and I find their centralized queues for smaller basket purchases a lot more efficient and effective. You can lose your mind waiting at individual cashiers! Never again will you switch lines and curse yourself when the line you switched to ends up taking longer than the one you left. And if you get hungry, there are many food stalls a hop and a skip away in the basement lobby. I will always love Shopwise, but sometimes you just need SM to get the job done.

I haven't seen it so I entered and ended up staying just enough to kill the time. They're one of those mini groceries with imported items, much like an SnR without the bulk. They had all sorts of Kellog's cereal brands, Japanese items, frozen fruits, and even toiletries! They carried a lot of things local groceries like Rustan's doesn't (like 20 flavors of Pringles!!). The place is pretty small and they don't carry everything, but it's a good quick stop if you're looking for harder to find imported items!

You'll also find yourself scoring a good deal with their chips bags in front of the counter. Think fiiiiine quality chips, a refresher from the usual big brands here, in big bags for just P150. The grocery store is located on the GL inside of SM Megamall. I find everything here from meat, fruits, liquor to paper towels with decent prices. The meat and fruits are pretty good as well. I always get my pasalubong here for others in the States. They open mall hours and late on weekends. They have a membership for points if you are a residence. If your are a senior citizen and have a senior card, it's discounted here as well. Why don't we have this in the States?! [83/100]

Our old reliable when it comes to grocery shopping has always been Puregold. Not just because of…read moredistance, but because it typically has everything we need for our house. It has a good mix of local and international items, which is always convenient. A nice thing to note is that it's also pretty easy to navigate through. And for someone who's pretty directionally challenge, that is a huuuuge plus. Whenever I have a shopping list, everything tends to get checked while i'm in there. They have loads of produce from chicken, fish, pork, and beef. Their vegetable assortment is always wonderful, I'm usually able to find the herbs I need for whatever I'm planning to cook that day. The international sections offers a lot of Asian items, flavors, and a lot of American goods. I wish there could be more diversity in their international items, but hey, no supermarket is the perfect mix.

Whatever it is, no matter what mood I'm in, I always feel a little better going into Rustan's Supermarket. Granted I've never stayed that long there, since I'm usually just in it to buy a bottle of wine, or Messy Bessy products, or just a quick, cheap snack. Maybe my opinion would change otherwise if I actually spent some time doing groceries here, but it's overall a great, nice supermarket. Really I think the only thing that kind of breaks the illusion is the few cashiers that they have and the depressing checkout area. They could probably stand to put a few more fun things there, but otherwise it's always a good day shopping there.
