Not simply that, it's also your go-to spot if you need to find anything for electronics. You have the main floors with handfuls of normal stores, but there is one particular corner of the building where you enter, and it's a multitude of stalls and kiosks for a good 3 floors, with any range of whatever you need: screen repairs, cables, phone cases, new merchandise...I first got to know it when I was looking to get my iPod screen fixed, but now place it in my mental filing cabinet for anything I need. If you're getting something repaired and have some time to kill, head downstairs and grab a burger or a beer at any of the variety of other businesses that occupy the building aside from electronics stores. Right next to Carioca metro/subway station, you can't miss it!

The indoor shopping center is a massive complex. Four floors of stores; with a good size food court, and a two floor parking garage. We were there around noontime. Many office workers having lunch. It's like one stop shopping here. Clothing, shoes, refrigerators, housewares, mattresses, barber shop, nail and pedicure, etc. Several international labels like Nike, Zara, Lindt truffles, and Daiso. And Havainas, the Brazilian flip flop store. We did mostly window shopping. Our two little purchases - 1) two Portuguese egg tarts from a small vendor and 2) Lindt truffles by weight. Later it was another easy Uber ride back to the hotel.

It offers a gorgeous panoramic of, of course, Botafogo beach and Pao de açúcar. Going at dusk is an awesome time to see the sky changing colors. There's also plenty to do in the mall with the food court and movie theatre on the top floor. There's also a good variety of stores. Some of your more typical stores like Leader and other fancier like Uncle K. There's also a few non-chain stores that offer some more unique options for gifts and the like. It's convenient to the bus lines and not too far from the metro or other restaurants.

But walking around this mall was a fun time. It wasn't super crowded despite being a holiday. This mall has it all. Coffee shops, bars, restaurants at different price points, chocolate shops, clothing stores, açaí, toy stores, etc. It has a cinema. It's clean, spacious and well-organized. It was easy for me to find what I was looking for despite being distracted by all the different stores. If you're tired of being out in the sun on the beach, this is a nice little break. Nearby, you'll find more restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Store employees don't speak much English but with translation apps, you'll be fine.

This is a very cool and contemporary shopping center in Rio. The center is quite large and spread across several floors. The layout is a little weird with branching side corridors that make it potentially possible to get a bit turned around. Also, I could not find a single store directory or map in the entire place! There is a mix of stores you might never heard of if you're from the U.S. along with some familiar names. My favorite is the L'Occitane au Bresil store which features skincare products made in Brazil with Brazilian ingredients. Some of the staff in the various stores spoke some English and others not. Knowing a few Portuguese phrases will serve you well. I was disappointed that there was no store selling souvenirs for those who might want to pick up something for friends or family back home. On the top floor is a large selection of various restaurants to suit nearly any taste. Definitely give this center a visit if you want to shop in Rio!

A few stores have a nice store front and the strong air conditioning is welcoming in the hot Rio weather. However, it seems to have opened with only a few stores in place. I assume the hope is to fill the mall with other stores but it seems like they would have already signed the leases. Forever 21 and Le Lis Blanc are the first stores you see when exiting the airport and have a modern welcoming storefront. The other stores either weren't open or were harder to find. The food court, again aesthetically pleasing with open natural lighting, really only had two restaurants: Subway and Burger King. There the coffee shop Katz and a VIP airport lounge and a kiosk of super paletas but hardly more than that. There were a lot of "coming soon" signs that showed the mall has a lot more potential. It's really not worth visiting now but maybe later when more stores are actually open.

As far as I know, that's the only one in this area, with the next closest being located in Barra Shopping. The food court and other options aren't that great. Maybe as the mall develops and brings in some revenue it will start to attract other businesses and really bloom, but for now, only go if you're looking for something at Forever 21.

This also houses several live theaters spread out on the second and third floors and a movie theater on the fourth floor. They have a variety of good quality restaurants to choose from (Xi Bistrô, Balada mix). There's a convenient taxi stand in the front of the mall for easy transportation and a parking garage on the top floors. Plus the bus lines run a block away towards PUC.

The stores also don't focus on clothes. Instead, you're likely to find something unique for your house, maybe a gift for a friend, or something completely unexpected. The most unique attractions for me are the theaters and restaurants. Every floor has at least one live-action theater, both for adults and kids. It's common to see costumed princesses or pirates walking around and taking pictures with kids. I haven't personally seen a play there yet, but I have heard good things from friends. The movie theater is unique too. Smaller than the typical theater, it offers more of a feeling of community for those watching the film together. We also saw an advertisement that they will be showing old-time movies with live piano accompaniment in the near future. The restaurants are all top notch. Lunch, supper, ice cream, coffee, chocolate, whatever it is you are looking for, they have a place in Shopping da Gávea that will meet or exceed your expectation. Definitely give this place a visit, just don't expect anything like you've seen before in a mall.
