Two Saturdays ago, I was in the area and needed a drugstore. I did a search and found this Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM). It was a six-minute drive from where I was. This SDM is in a busy plaza anchored by Sobeys across from it. I found a parking spot fairly close to the main doors. I backed into it and headed inside. The layout is similar to most SDMs. It was easy to figure out which aisles I needed. I hit the vitamin aisle first. I was pleased that there was a vitamin sale going on. Two other shoppers, both men, were looking at vitamins, too. I got what I needed and continued exploring. This store had a decent selection of plushies. There were a couple of massive teddy bears. I know that they'd fit in my car, but where would I put them at home? Maybe one could be a guard by the door? I got some pop. I forgot to get a carton of eggs. The best price for a dozen is at SDM and Rexall on the weekend these days. A carton goes for $3.49. I hit the self-checkout area and scanned my items. I then loaded them into my reusable bag. I scanned my PC Optimum card and then paid with a credit card. Easy peasy! I placed my items in my car and started to leave. You do need to drive with caution in this lot. There are some drivers who enjoy driving in the middle of a roadway and aren't considerate. I witnessed it first-hand trying to leave. I couldn't because this person was hogging the road and holding up everyone around him. Other than this jerk, I enjoyed shopping here. Maybe it's more relaxed when it's not a weekend. (26) read more

I went to the pharmacy this afternoon to [ick up some meds and the pharmacy assistant was not wearing his mask properly - below the chin. He apologized when I asked him why he wasn't wearing his mask properly. I thought masks were compulsory. This Shoppers pharmacy gets consistently bad ratings, I have found the staff rude, and ignoring customers or simply walking away in mid sentence. I'm actually thinking of changing pharmacies - no mask was the last straw and it is against the law. read more

oh boy do i have a problem with this location. being the closest shoppers drug west of st. Joseph's hospital you'd think they have a better stock on medications that doctors prescribe. came here after a 8+ hour visit at the hospital to pick up some medication that was prescribed only to find out after 15+ minutes of waiting that they didn't have stock on the medication available, and it took an additional 15+ minutes for this location to figure out/communicate with the closest shoppers(park lawn) had stock on the medication needed. not like the medication was anything above and beyond the spectrum but they were anti-nausea medication. transit options are the Humber loop 501 queen streetcar in both directions with walking, the 66a Prince Edward bus with a walk, the 66b Prince Edward bus with a walk and directly the 80 Queensway bus. lots of parking at this shoppers as it is a stand alone building at this shopping centre. would go out of my way not to come here, under any circumstances, as time was greatly wasted here! read more

This review is also for the Pharmacy. The store itself is fine. I wished I had read the reviews on here before going here. There was quite the line up here. I guess it must be a very popular spot. I wanted to pick up some travel medication. Dukoral and Typhoid. I had prescriptions and the lady offered the over the shelf Dukoral as this didn't require a prescription or the dispensing fee to save a bit of money. I was given an electronic device to tell me when to come back to the counter when my medication was ready. I picked up the medication and paid for it. I spoke to 3 ladies in total. 2 were nice. But the one wasn't friendly at all. Anyways, I took it home and put the Typhoid into the fridge as it has a large sticker that says fridge on it. They gave me 2 sheets of paper with information on the medication. I looked at the other one to scan through to see if it needed to go in the fridge as well as it did NOT have the Fridge sticker on it. The sheet said room temperature. So I put it on my counter and went on my day as I was planning to start it on the weekend. The weekend came by and I took out both meds and opened it to read the instructions inside. The Dukoral which I had left on the counter. The info sheet inside the box says to make sure it is refrigerated. I checked the printed sheet that the pharmacy gave me and it says room temperature. I quickly picked up the phone and called the pharmacy. The guy on the phone told me to come in and they will replace the dukoral for me as it was their mistake. I then noticed that the printed sheet that they gave me had another patients name on it. It wasn't even for me. So I asked if he wanted the name and information as they should contact the person in case they received my sheet and his medication shouldn't had been refrigerated. He said no and they will deal with it when I come in. Seemed strange that he was not concerned with the other person. Anyways, I brought it in. I believe i had a manager as she told the first lady I was with that she wanted to speak with me. She took the wrong sheet and tucked it under the counter. Assuming it was put into a garbage. I asked her if she was going to contact the person and she said that she will later. But then she goes to explain that I would have 2 weeks to use my dukoral after it has been left on room temperature and that it was safe to use. One - this means I didn't really need to come back to the store to hear about this. Two - I wasn't comfortable with this as this was a very expensive medication and it was their error. They would NOT replace the medication with a new one that has been refrigerated. I am very disappointed in this type of service. This was completely their mistake. The dukoral is a two part medication. The 2nd to be taken 1 week after the first. Meaning I was taking the 2nd part on the day of expiry. I worry that the effects may not be as strong as if I had the medication that was not out on room temperature. I will not be back at this pharmacy. They seemed more concern with their costs (as she said that they cannot do anything with it if they swapped it out) vs the comfort levels of their customers even after their mistake! Also - To give a person the wrong information sheet is a pretty big mistake. So if you do go there, make sure you check all information to ensure accuracy. Or go elsewhere. I really hope that they did contact the other person. But my guess, they didn't. read more

I should have had more confidents in the other reviews, but I thought how bad can it be... The customers service wasn't too bad, but their time management is horrible. I gave them my prescription, they checked the inventory and put my vaccine with it. They then told me it would be about 30 minutes. I was fine with that since I had some other shopping I could do in the plaza, and they were helping other customers. I came back after 20 minutes and informed them I was would be waiting in the sitting area. It was almost 1 hour before they informed me they were working on my order. 20 minutes later they gave me my vaccine and told me I would have to wait another 30 minutes if I want them to inject it for me. At this point I didn't want to wait any longer, they clearly don't know how to manage their time and customers. My biggest issue is the fact that the box containing the vaccine they put on my prescription in the very beginning, was untouched, still sealed!!! They didn't do anything to it, it was just sitting there the whole time. All they had to do is cash me out!!! Wasted 1.5 hours on these fools, I will not be going back to this shoppers again. read more

I have filled prescriptions at Shopper's Drug Mart for most of my life, and have had some really great Pharmacists. I have a condition that requires a few medications and can be complex. I also deal with multiple specialists prescribing, which means that doing my due diligence at the receiving level is really, really important to prevent dangerous overlaps. I changed my Rxs over to the Queensway location after moving into the area, but am seriously debating switching to a less convenient location and having to walk much further (I don't drive) just to avoid having to deal with one. I cannot guess how many pharmacists or technicians work here, because every-single-time I call or visit I am served by a different person. That would be fine if they left decent notes for each other but because they don't I am constantly re-explaining things over and over to generally impatient and snappy people. There also seem to be a lot of less experienced people on staff, so that when I have questions (simple or complicated) I frequently have to wait to speak with someone else (or wait to get a call back, etc.). I expect someone to be able to answer simple questions like "Can I fill this Rx today?" if they are picking up the phone. I am left doing a lot of legwork that I don't usually have to do. Last week there was an issue so that they could not fill a prescription for me. It was before the long weekend, and I was told not to expect anything to happen until Monday, which was fine, except when I asked whether I would receive a call when they were ready I was was given a blank stare and told "I will write your number down, but probably not". Points for honesty, I guess? Personally, I want to recognize the pharmacists at my pharmacy, to have people who are just a tad patient and knowledgeable so that I can make sure I'm managing my prescriptions properly. This location does not offer any of that, so unless you really have no choice I would head up to Bloor near either Royal York or Runnymede instead.a read more

The make-up girls at this Shoppers Drug Mart are exceptional! They're knowledgeable, friendly and don't mind if you ask alot of silly questions like myself. I'm not the sharpest pencil in the box when it comes to make-up. Ever since renos, this Shoppers has gone first class. Added to their make-up line up are brands such as Benefit and Smash Box. It's almost a Sephora but replace all the black and red for white and blue. And if you coincidentally walk into a Shoppers during a Gala day (as I did here) then you're going to be hooked up! Cakes and pastries will be served, goodie bags filled with samples will be given to you with your purchase and freebies by the make-up brand expert girls will be handed to you. All-in-all I received around $50 of free beauty products. What what! This Shoppers also has great hours. Open until midnight and it's across a super Sobey's which is open 24 hours. read more

Store 0865 has been my SDM for 12-13 years for every need that a drug store can provide. There have been issues I'll admit, but they've been discussed and dealt with. The staff (especially the pharmacist(s) have been more than helpful to explain and/or correct errors on my side or theirs. I heard that the digital print section of some big Shoppers Drug Marts was a good place to get passport photos. Since this one was nearby, and my passport has expired, I went. The good news: passport photos $10. The bad news: they closed down the photo lab last week, since the whole store is being renovated (odd, since they just built this particular Shoppers a few years ago), and the lab won't be open again until November. The rest of this large Shoppers is still open, but it's a bit discombobulated right now. There is a clearance rack, with baby formula and other sundries, so it might be worth a look. Hopefully, they'll still have their occasional loss-leader bagged milk sale (4L for $2.99!) at this location, since in the past I've made the trip here just for that deal alone. read more

75% of the pharmacy staff are utterly rude and have zero people skills. They speak too loudly and do not respect a patient's privacy. The other 25% are okay. Trying to get through on the telephone is also a huge challenge. They rarely answer the phone. Do not leave messages, as they will not call back. I often have to call 3 or 4 times in a day to get a live person. A few years ago, I left several messages for the pharmacy owner, Karen, asking her to explain why the staff never answers the phone. Ironically, she never called me back either. It is amazing they have not been shut down by Health Canada for treating people like dirt. SF read more

Consistently the absolute WORST customer service at the pharmacy. Poor listening skills, inaccurate dispensing, incredibly rude staff who are not personable, and horrible wait times. The staff here are irked that they are at risk for being replaced by machines/online technology, but their lack of human engagement actually supports why they can be so easily replaced. Maybe try to smile, work with your customers, and offer solutions versus always being so unhelpful. Why would you expect that people would return and be loyal when you can not display even an ounce of human emotion! read more

This pharmacy is the worst. Trying to get any information from the staff is like pulling teeth... My Dr. faxed in several rx's that I've never taken before, and when I asked the pharmacist (older gentleman) for advice regarding schedule and compatibility with other drugs, he told me to ask my Dr!! He continuously talked over me, and wouldn't let me get a word in edge wise. Wow, it was incredibly frustrating. I was not impressed at all. I was also looking for advice regarding 2 similar over the counter meds, as to which one would work best for me. He said he didn't know, and to just buy both. I've had bad experiences at this pharmacy before, but this was just over the top. I'm going to have my prescriptions filled somewhere else from now on. The convenience just isn't worth the aggravation. read more

This Shoppers and their pharmacy are open 24 hours, which is useful when you are discharged from hospital in the middle of the night and have prescriptions to fill. But during business hours...use another pharmacy! I'm not sure what the issue is, but they have failed to meet acceptable customer service standards several times. I've seen them keep my veterinarian waiting on hold for 20 minutes, when she was phoning in a prescription refill - on their doctor's line! Are there any medical professionals in the city who have time to wait that long? She finally gave up and prepared a written prescription, which I then had to drop off and wait for them to fill. I've also had them make mistakes on prescriptions. Most recently I went to pick one up, and luckily looked at the bottle before leaving, and noticed that they had indicated it had no refills, when the prescription actually had included two. I asked them to check if it was correct in their computer system, since that would be a time consuming and costly mistake for me to deal with. They insisted that the prescription had not included any refills. Since I had just dropped the prescription off that evening, I asked them to retrieve the original to double check. They protested but eventually sent someone to go through all of the evening's prescriptions and find mine. Sure enough, it indicated 2 refills. They said they didn't know what happened and fixed it in their computer system, but that's a pretty big oversight for a pharmacy, when attention to detail and oversight are the primary components of their value proposition! It turns out there is also a pharmacy in the Sobey's in the same plaza. I'm not sure why I haven't been dropping my prescriptions off there and doing my grocery shopping at the same time! read more

This store is no longer 24 hours it's open from 8 a.m. till midnight Itsfunneh no one mentioned it I stopped off there twice a week after work usually around 12:30 in the morning Maybe that's a good thing because the manager there was a real beep They never had stock of anything that was popular on sale I would constantly get lied to for instance when they have their six pack of pop on sale I would get there at 12:30 in the morning the day of the sale and they would tell me the shipment is coming in later so I go back in the evening then I would be told they're sold out this has happened so many times I've lost count The same manager on more than one occasion at 12:30 in the morning also had staff meetings just on the other side of the cash registers And he would literally be yelling at the employees So after the second time I actually called Shoppers Drug Mart head office to voice my disapproval of how he was treating the employees where everyone could see and hear it They apologized said they would talk to the manager and gave me 10,000 PC points I thought that's nice now the employees won't be yield at where everyone could see and I got a little bonus Two weeks later I'm at 12:30 in the morning again just after work and there he is again yelling at the employees again At this point I had enough I am a very calm person I turned around and raise my voice at him and said this is extremely unprofessional this is not something you do to employees nevermind doing it to them in public And his response was I'm the manager of the store and I'll run it the way it needs to be run I pulled my phone up and said that's good I've got two minutes of video of you yelling at them and another 30 seconds of this conversation And he told me to leave the store I paid for my stuff gave him the finger and walked out and the security guard almost burst out laughing I called head office again and sent them a copy of the video and audio And again they gave me 10,000 points and apologized I'm just disappointed now because they're not open 24 hours and I won't find out if he actually got canned As for the pharmacy I have only ever used it twice because Like the other reviews the pharmacy is horrible after spending 4 1/2 hours in a hospital with my son I went there to get a prescription filled for antibiotics for his ear I get home and it's the wrong prescription the first name was the same as my son's the last name was completely different Instead of antibiotics I had a bottle of 240 oxycodone Thinking they would be appreciative when I returned it because that was a huge mistake one of the pharmacist jokes and says you are lucky you didn't give that to your son And the other ones giving me the third degree almost like a police interrogation on TV I need to check this before you go and make sure you didn't take any out she said After so many problems the only reason I went there was because it was 24 hours I don't even bother anymore I go to one that's about 5 minutes further away and that's a nightmare to find parking half the size store but for whatever reason they always have what I need in stock And because of the disgust I have for the one on The Queensway I only go to the other one on Parklawn and Lakeshore when Costco is closed read more

Gave them a 1 for customer service! Was in their store today and at the checkout I asked for a bag. Was not given one once the transaction was complete. I asked for the bag and was told "if you asked I would had given you one" I said politely that I did ask and was told they were 5 cents. I was told again I did not ask, I was not getting into an argument over a silly bag and started to leave. I then over heard the cashier tell the next customer in line "if he wants a bag he has to pay for it and ask for it" I turned to her and said "you really don't want to drop this do you" I then just walked out of the store. read more

I used this pharmacy on the regular and they are highly unorganized and can be quite short and rude not to mention passive aggressive. Do not use this pharmacy just because it is close you you as you will regret it eventually. I'm a big fan of SDM stores, love the wide selections, optimum points system, etc... And I usually find the staff fairly helpful and friendly at most of the location across the GTA... However, I consistently find this particular location (The Queensway) with RUDE cashiers in the front, like they don't really want to be there, no smiles, very dismissive... I always find myself not wanting to shop there every time I get cashed out by the bitchy cashiers... If I had a choice or time to go to another location or a Rexall, I always do! read more

This was the worst pharmacy experience I have ever had. Went in to fill a new prescription and had to wait 1 hr! There was one pharmacist, Amirali Pirani and one assistant to fill all the prescriptions. When I finally got my prescription, and ask the pharmacist a question, he told me to read the box. As far as customer service goes, this store need an improvement. I had an incident where I was set aside and kept waiting, until all the customers behind me was served, just because the cashier charged me more for a sale item by mistake(?questionable) and I found out about it and came back to claim the difference. The manager did an excellent job making me feel like I was NOT one of the customers. Let me also say that this was not the first time this kind of thing happen to me at this store. I have never experienced such an awful phone call to a pharmacy in my life. it took forever for me to get through and once i had, the woman who sounded to be Philippino was extremely unprofessional, she constantly repeated questions that i had already answered, so when i constantly repeated the same information rather annoyed she became very rude and impatient, I'm not sure why because she is the pharmacist who is suppose to be prepared with answered and information for the customer. when all was said and done she did not even say thank you or goodbye she rudely hung up, i called back to get her name and she didn't answer. read more
