They try and sell you things for 3 times the money, if you are silly enough to fall for it. At this store, the prices were right from the get go. I felt so comfortable dealing with the lovely man and lady, they were very helpful and knowledgable about the history and culture of the cities in Mexico. Also, the quality of the clothing is great. I purchased 2 10" hand thrown, and hand painted ceramic dishes fully painted with the Aztec calendar in the flat, center portion of the dish. These are incredibly complex and detailed art pieces, that are made about 4 days drive from tijuana by the Aztec indians. The perfection in the detailed painting of the calendars is very impressive. I bought a large one years ago, they make great colorful and decorative hangings / conversation pieces, for less $$ than a 12 pack of Tecate!

I also came here a bunch of times to buy fabric for school dances/recitals/plays all of that fun stuff. They have tons of fabrics here, and they're good quality too. It's rather small in comparison to the other fabric stores around the city, but what matters here is quality not quantity. Another good thing about Telas Costa Azul is that it's a one-stop-shop for making dresses. I'm not that familiar with the actual names of the things you need, but things like string, patterns, pads, etc. You also have the option of purchasing an entire roll of fabric (for large parties.... or a reaaallly big puffy dress) They are open monday through sunday which is amazingly convenient. Their hours do vary though, so make sure you check out the times or give them a call to make sure they're open when you come.
